Their job is to keep you from coughing and to stop mucus from forming right? What's the point of that? Colds aren't the introduction of mucus into the body. Mucus is a defense system. Germs and shit sticks to the mucus, and coughing is how those germs get out. That's like killing all of our soldiers because people don't like the war. The problem is still there, and you probably just made it worse. Now your body can't defend itself because it can't create mucus. The problem is bacteria. Not mucus and coughing. Am I right about this?
Most cough medicine actually doesn't really get rid of mucus. They actually increase the production of the fluid in mucus, allowing it to be broken up easier, allowing for more productive coughs.
Cause people don't like having to cough every 2 seconds, it helps when you have to go to work/school and when your trying to sleep. Yeah it's taking down your bodies defense but people don't really care, and the cold will go away nonetheless.
