Books, That Changed Affected Your Life?

Discussion in 'The Bookshelf' started by 5cooby Doo, Nov 7, 2011.

  1. Are there any books, that after reading you felt, changed your life for the better? Effected the way you look at things? The way you act or think?

Post it.... title, author, picture of book, little summary... anything you want.
Don't forget to mention why you're posting said book! :smoking::smoke:

  2. Forged by fire was the first book i have ever finished reading from front to end and it was very sad and fucked up but great book

  3. The Art of War.

It inspired me to take over China

  4. This may be a little controversial but The God Delusion By Richard Dawkins is a great book that made me think a little differently.

  5. The Last Lecture, Five People You Meet in Heaven, and Perks of Being a Walfllower.

Maybe not changed the way I looked at life but at important times in my life these were the books I was reading then so they mean a lot.

  6. George Orwell's "1984" and Arthur C. Clarke's "Childhood's End"

Both are about rewriting history and controlling humanity and shit I highly recommend. Childhood's End is an easy read, not very long and flows well. :smoke:

Stalking the Wild Pendulum: On the Mechanics of Consciousness - Itzhak Bentov

An interesting, controversial book covering the nature of existence in how it relates to individual perception (and a whole lot more).

I've also been affected by the works of Jane Goodall and the Dalai Lama, both of whom I've had the privilege of attending at past lectures.

If a particular author’s work has moved you, then I highly recommend checking their touring dates and attending their speaking engagements in person. You may also be surprised by how many will take the time to respond to personal mail if you send it.

    Peace.

  9. Making of a latin king. That book was nuts cuz i used to live close to where all the gangs were. I feel bad for people in the ghetto. Glad we moved out when i was just a kid.

  10. Brave new world.

  11. A New Earth

  12. Before reading "Art of War" I was a very violent person.

I'm not nearly as violent anymore.

  14. odly enough steve-o's book, Its to long to explain how it changed my views on life, but i definetly recommend reading it, I couldnt put it down really intersting.

  15. The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test...I wanted to live in a commune after I read that and I really liked reading about the Acid tests they had. I thought it was interesting that their concerts were more free flow as opposed to a rigid structured event.

Lord of the Flies. Piggy, that poor indignant lump...

Also, Frankenstein... that poor bastard. And Victor? Don't get me started on that monster.

  17. Aldous Huxleys

    The doors of perception

Aldous contemplates whether we have a restriction valve on our perception and whether psychadelic drugs allow us to reach our full perception of the world
