non grounded timers.

  1. Hey guys, I am having a helluva time finding a digital grounded timer locally. I was able to find a 15 amp capacity non-grounded timer. If I plug a 3 prong adapter into it, will it be safe to run my 400watt MH light? I don't want to screw up the ballast.

Have a Home Depot or a Lowe's near you?

If so, there they are. If not, they deliver.

    Mechanical options:
    Plug-In Dual-Outlet Heavy-Duty Timer-15075 at The Home Depot
Shop Utilitech Indoor 2-Outlet Mechanical Timer at Lowes.com

Do not plug a grounded 3 prong wire into a non grounded 2 prong outlet. You are just asking for disaster.

  3. I've already looked at Home Depot and lowe's. Their digital timers are all 2 prong here, It's not an old 2 prong outlet, it's a GFCI outlet. The timer is 2 prong. I was asking if it would be safe to plug a 2 to 3 prong adapter into the timer, and plug the ballast into that.

  4. Personally, I would just order the proper timers and wait the few days for them to arrive... My luck, I would run into problems trying to "make things work" that will cause a bigger clusterfuck in the end. But, that's just MO. Good Luck
