Healing frequencies in Sanskrit and cat purrs

  1. I had originally posted this in science, because I think it's just as applicable, and these things can be studied using the scientific method, but people have to complain.

I learned some Sanskrit mantras a while back. I was a cashier at Wal-Mart, it was gray winter, and I needed something to help me through.

    om

that was my first introduction. So simple. So elegant. So pure.

I got the flu really suddenly during this time, and learned a mantra for healing

    om arkaya namaha

and another longer that I can't type but can say

Also at this time, my friend's dog had a leg surgery, and I touched the dog's leg and said the mantras often and the vet said the dog healed faster than any dog she's ever seen.

I got over my flu really fast.

That winter was a time of emotional turmoil for me. I found sanctuary in cannabis and would smoke in the dead cold of night in my car because I couldn't anywhere else.

There was this cat that would come chill with me. I wouldn't get him high ever, just chill.

He'd come sit on my lap and start purring, and he sounded like a didgeridoo. I love those instruments and think they're like mantras.

The cat would play music for me as I blazed, and sometimes I would om along with it.
I think these have unstudied potential.

I also find that doing this singing makes me feel better.

  2. I can't believe this has zero replies.

Does no one think this is good?

  3. The immune system is a beautiful thing

I don't think humming to yourself has any medical benefits aside from a placebo effect lol...

  4. I've never really gotten into vocal meditation or humming, but I've heard that it does have positive effects. I just think it's so new and out there to westerners because it's mostly confined to small native uncivilized tribes of the world, and so most are skeptical or don't believe in its properties.

    Thanks for sharing this knowledge.

  5. So I bring exposure :D

healing mantras are commonplace medicine in India.

  6. They do a lot of weird shit in India

    ever heard of Eunuch's?

so i was curled up in bed in terrible pain, my cat noticed this. he jumped on my bed and curled up on ner my stomach and started purring real hard, within 10 minutes i felt better than ever and still do.

  12. If you know what asmr is, it definitely activates that

I had the same hunch all the time though, you're probably onto something

  13. In an exercise prescription class in college we reviewed an article that displayed a positive correlation between cat purrs and bone density.

This was 2-3 years ago. I'll try to find the original article though.

I don't think you're crazy at all dude.  I mean just look at the benefits of music described in that article.  It is reasonable to assume that certain frequencies could have a profound affect on the human body.  I imagine there is an absolute plethora of knowledge to be gained in this subject.  Unfortunately, there's probably not a lot of money in it since anybody could do it themselves.  So research will definitely be limited.  Maybe "bose" or "beats by dre" will create a playlist that goes with their headphones and can heal hahaha.
