Thinking about just moving to Amsterdam

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Madian, Oct 23, 2011.

1. so somebody isn't allowed to voice their own opinion anymore without getting flamed. And it's nothing like your example, Amsterdam is not currently/recently at war. Amsterdam is the capital, hence why people want to go there, if you came to the U.K, you would go to london, not leeds/manchester/bristol/portsmouth, because it is the most well known place.

Thank you.

3. I guess its just resentment I've retained from highschool where kids would think Amsterdam is its own country and I dragged it here. Sorry for hating. Live well blaze often.

4. Amsterdam is sketchy as hell at night.

5. You can only dream of the country you want to live in, not the state or city? What does your reply even mean?

I want to live in Cali, but I have never been there. What is wrong with me wanting to live somewhere I have never been? I might find out I hate it if I ever got around to doing it, but isn't that what life is? Positive and negative experiences based on the decisions we make? You really ought to make your own life better and stop slamming others for expressing their dreams.

6. Nah, thats what I thought too, till I find out, those rumors have been around for years, and it wasn't even aimed at American tourists but rather drug cartels that come over the border. But from what I understand, there are no plans to cut off the coffee shops from tourists.

7. which you can't do anyway?
elaborate.

8. Honestly man, I love Amsterdam, it's such a cool, beautiful place.

But i've met just as many wankers there as I have elsewhere. Also, would you be willing to learn a new language? If you aren't from the EU then it could be tough getting a visa without work already sorted and yeah, as has been said, like any major city, Amsterdam isn't particularly safe at night, but it's no worse than London or New York for example.
And Amsterdam (at least to a tourist) is ridiculously expensive. I don't know about house/flat prices, but food there (both in restaurants and food shops) was crazy, like 2 or 3 euro for a small chocolate bar. And coffeeshops are soo expensive, especially if you want to chill in one...

Also, don't worry about all the people saying 'foreigners can't smoke in Amsterdam', it's not true.

But yeah, obviously if you have your heart set on it, go for it. But it won't be easy for you...

9. NYC is not bad at night not as bad as ppl think im 24yrs of age and I have NEVER been robbed....I did the robbing lol but those days are gone now

10. I also wanted to visit Amsterdam one of the reasons is bud but also those people seem very friendly and nice to talk too, very cultural as well and open minded, music festivals happen every summer or every fall don't know but the Netherlands seems like a great place.

11. Alrite mate seeing as i live an hour away i tink i know a bit more about it than you.
the public transports awesome the majority of people are kind and pot prices are actually pretty decent 7 EUROS for a g of AK47? thats real cheap pal. As for getting beaten or robbed ive spent in total over a year in the dam and i havent witnessed one violent crime. The fucking US is a shithole hell even the UKs got crime but you dont see as much of it in holland. All the people are well educated ffs the waiters, janitors, bus drivers all speak perfect english. In england and the US where english is the main language alot of people cant even string a fucking sentence together. Also everythings clean unlike US and other countries where theres shit all over everywhere. The grass really is greener over there albeit if i was gonna move anywhere it would be zurich cos its even nicer than die nedeerlands and the chronics decriminalized.

12. take me with u

13. WTF is wrong with you?

14. Is it even possible to just up and move to a different country? Wouldn't you have to get a visa or something like that? If you have a passport you can visit but if you don't come back can't you get in trouble if they catch you?

15.
Sorry it just really grinds my gears for someone to say I want to move to Amsterdam. It would be like someone in Iraq saying I wish one day to move to the wonderful land of Massachusetts! Amsterdam isn't its own country.
A lot of people want to move to California. That isn't it's own country. London. Same thing.

16. i'm definitely interested in vistiting Holland but i wouldn't know anything about living there. basically subbing for updates :)

happy toking :bongin:

20. Europe in general is very bad with jobs now, Holland from what i know is also bad because its such a small country. Unless you're a specialist in something, i wouldn't recommend moving there because its pretty expensive and having a low-key job won't meet your expectations from this country.
