LabCorp Test - Dilution results question

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by SmokeGirl, Oct 22, 2011.

  1. Sorry if this has been answered before, but whenever I search for information about dilution and drug tests, the only results I get are HOW to dilute and what happens if my sample was rejected...... rather than my questions of how much is too much dilution to be outside of the normal range? Like... could I accidentally dilute or would I have to REALLY try for that extreme? and how long would it be before I was informed the sample was dilute and asked to re-test? This is labcorps standard immunoassay urine test with the 50ng/ml or whatever cutoff.

Background, if you need more info to answer those questions:

I had to do my first drug test the other day for pre-employment. I quit smoking as soon as I found out the company I had an interview with did drug testing, and sort-of lucky me I interviewed and got offered the job astonishingly quickly. This amounted to me being clean for a week by the time I went for the test. I am a semi regular user, but I wouldn't say my use is heavy.

I'd never tested before though, and I know everyone is different so I took a few at home tests (passed 3 of them) semi-diluted (you know, my usual morning coffee and then probably a total of no more than 40oz of water) and let myself pee several times that morning and early afternoon before I went to the lab. Do you have to REALLY work at diluting to an uncomfortable level before it would fail any of the lab's specific gravity tests? Or... could I somewhat accidentally dilute too much? I have pretty good hydration habits so maybe someone who doesn't WOULD have a hard time staying as hydrated as I do normally and that's why I'm second guessing myself. I'm not too concerned about the result being negative, because I passed an at home test just before I went to the lab. It is now Saturday, and I took this test on Thursday afternoon. If my sample was diluted, would they have already contacted me about that yesterday? They'd want me to re-test ASAP, if the specimen showed up as dilute, right? If I passed dilution then I'm pretty confident I passed, PERIOD.

    Thanks for your help!

  2. depends on what kind of test theyre running on you. i think some test can tell if you were trying to dillute your sample. good luck though!

  3. It's the standard urine test at labcorp. I'm sure they do specimin validity testing... I'm just curious if I'd have to really try hard to dilute enough for it to be at a suspicious level. Is it even possibly to accidentally dilute too much or is dilution pretty extreme?

  4. Well if you passed a home test, you will be fine. If the home test was a 50ng/mL, and your employment one was also a 50ng/mL, then youre fine. They aren't gonna tel you you're taking a 50ng/mL test, but give you a 40ng/mL. You don't even need to worry about diluting.

Edit: as for your post above this, it takes extreme diluting. If you have read any of the guides, they tell you to drink like 2 gallons of water like 4 hours leading up to the test. That's A LOT of water.

  5. Ohh geez yes that is a lot of water. I drank noooowhere near that much. I already took the test on Thursday. I was just worried about the possibility that I might accidentally dilute. but... obviously it takes some serious effort to dilute to a suspicious extent. My other question was just related to how long would it take them to get back to me if my specimen WERE dilute? I took the test 2 days ago, so I would've heard something by now if I needed to re-test, right? I'd think they'd want me to retest ASAP.

  6. They would have told you right away. Because if they waited 4 days, for example, those days are just more time for the drugs to get out of your system.

  7. Right right, that is what I figured. Thanks much for the re-assurance.

  8. LabCorp is a piece of shit. They will tell you when your test is dilute, and will make you re-take it until they get a proper sample. You could overload your system with creatine to mask the traces of THC, but they test for that also. There's really nothing you can do for them to not find in their tests. Just take it when your clean, end of story.

  9. Well, I passed an at-home test just before I went to labcorp. I wasn't attempting the dilution method. I had just smoked about a week before my test so I figured my urine should at least be somewhat less concentrated but just wanted to make sure I wouldn't end up overdoing it. So... if they didn't contact me about dilution by now then I'll assume it was all good and the job is mine!

  10. Well, I took my test, got the job, and a week later they sent in the results saying I failed.

  11. Well if it took a week I hear that's because you fail the initial screening, then they run the more sophisticated test to rule out any false positives. I am not worried about passing, I was just concerned they might reject my sample for it being too dilute. But it sounds like you've gotta drink an awful lot for that to happen. Sorry you failed.

  12. Hey guys. I just found out the other day that I have to complete a drug test at some point between now and march 20th. I am an every day smoker. the last time i smoked was this past saturday, March 2nd, and have not smoked since. I am taking my test at LabCorp in Massachusetts. Everyone has been telling me to buy QuikFix 5.7 so I did. I was wondering if anyone knows if LabCorp can detect synthetic urine. I have some time before my test so Should I try the natural way of working out a ton, inhaling water and cranberry juice, and maybe buying some detox for the day of the test? Or should i go with the quik fix. I'm 6 2 200 pounds and consider myself in pretty good shape (I can sweat a lot if I have to).I welcome any advice .thanks guys!

  13. i think some test can tell if you were trying to dillute your sample. good luck though![IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  14. I ought to add a super late update here. I did pass this test no problems. I had a friend who had to take a test a few times because it kept coming up dilute. And she was not deliberately trying to dilute since she was clean anyway. Pretty crazy. I'd never heard of that happening to anyone else though.

I took a test for another job in the fall of 2012 and I used the QuickFix. I'd go that route again anytime over quitting. It was incredibly easy to pull off.
