How To Make A Slider For My Homemade Bong

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by thecpk, Oct 13, 2011.

  1. So I don't get one aspect of it. We want the bong to be airtight but I don't understand how a slider is airtight because you can easily take it out so that means it's not really tight around it

  2. the corner store will sell you one. making a perfectly fitting slide from household materials will be next to impossible

  3. sliders nomally are glass on glass or have a rubber ring to block air coming in so all you get is the milky smoke

  4. Well then do people make homemades. Does airtight not matter too much. Cause on my last homemade bong it worked great but when I released the carb it didn't clear. U guys know why

  5. Get a rubber oring to keep it air tight.

  6. Wont the o ring make it hard the pull it out.

Btw sliders are better than a carb

  7. Won't the o ring make hard to pull it out.

Btw are sliders better than carbs. Do u know where I can get an o ring around the house

  8. The down stem goes into the water, the slider goes into the down stem. Hit the bong, fill it up, pull out the slide to clear it.

  9. I never took any super cautious steps to making a homemade piece.
    but uh, what I did:
burn the spot you want the hole for the bong to be in until it starts to make a hole, then, use a razor or something similar to slowly shave that hole bigger until your stem/slide fits perfectly. (I used a standard bic pen that I had taken the ink piece out of and put the whole thing back together) then cut a little bit off the writing end of the pen, and put a socket on it (perfect bowl) now, you just take the bowl off the stem to clear the bong. also, you can take the tapered part of the pen off and on easily, so, yeah, uh.. hope I helped :smoking:

  10. Wait so the downstem doesn't have to be airtight with the slider

  12. Glass-on-glass downstems are factory made.

If you want to get a super tight fit, you will probably need to use to pieces that are already made to fit to each other.

  13. Hey OP I'm big into making homemade pieces too.(glass idk if you use plastic, if you do ignore this) If you don't already put a rubber grommet in the hole you drilled, and then buy a down stem that you can just barely get to fit. Then on your actual slider use an o ring. To answer your other question about it being airtight it is EXTREMELY important, especially for a bong. (because if it isn't you will clear the bong just by milking it) Best of luck. :smoke:

  15. I used to use plastic too; before I discovered glass drill bits that is. Then I got a real bong, decided it wasn't as good as my homemades and sold it. :smoke:

  16. OP please don't do this, you will end up smoking plastic. :smoke:

Do you have any DIY threads for making a bong?

  19. Nope. I figure I probably should. Uhm here I'll redirect you to a buddy of mine. He makes great homemades as well. If you got any questions feel free to ask. :smoke: Kanaal van soundrone - YouTube
