I spent a fortune on a piece I found at a local head shop, and the inline diffuser doesn't seem to be working right?

here are some pictures of the inline:

See that big hole at the end of the inline? I don't know if that could be the issue, because the inlines i see in other pieces are rounded at the end, and the smoke only comes out of the slats in the inline.
Is it a flaw in the actual inline itself? Am i not putting the right amount of water in the chamber? Do any of you have the same issue?

I just don't want to find out that I broke the bank on a piece that doesn't even work the way it should :(

  2. 1 - Looks to me like you need another 0.5 - 1 centimeter of water in there. You're not completely covering the diffuser, which needs to happen

2 - What do you mean by "not working right"? Is it not bubbling? That's what I'd expect with the water level that low. Once the water splashes down a bit, the smoke has a nice easy path direct into the air without filtering through the water.

  3. Yeah, just try raising the water a bit man.

  4. Yeah play with your water levels to find what you like best. its different for every piece/inline.

The slits do look cut a little to deep (high up) but it cant effect it to bad. the end has nothing to do with it.

  5. Looks like you have to submerge that hole at the end to get more diffusion. add more water like the other guys said. my inline has a closed end, but im sure it varies from company to company.
Put more water in it and throw up a vid!!

  6. How much did you pay for that? Can I see a picture of the whole thing?

  7. I don't think it's a design flaw. It shouldn't effect performance significantly.

  8. Just curious did putting more water like everyone said work??

damn id be pissed if i got a gridded inline with a open end...

EDIT: doesnt apear to be gridded but still

  10. That hole at the end should not be there especially with the slits facing down like that. The air is just gonna take the path if least resistance and that path is right out that huge hole. That sucks man maybe post a vid so we can see what it looks like when the perc is firing

  11. go back to the headshop and be pist about it. 8/10 times they give the un happy customer discount cards or free shit :D

  12. Not usually one to revive dead threads, but I just bought an inline perc bong and the first thing I noticed is that the end had a hole in it. I couldn't tell by the pic when I ordered it. Alll the air rushes out the end when you pull on it unless you tilt the bong at 45* but then it only percs through the first like 4 slits.

My idea was to heat up the glass and push it in to close the end off or take it to a glass blower and have them do it.

Here is the bong I ordered.
