Eating edibles on a full vs. empty stomach.

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by twizzla, Oct 8, 2011.

  1. Yesterday I had a pretty big dinner and ate 2/3 of a brownie (2/3g weed also) about 2 hours after dinner. Normally 1/2 of a brownie gives me a pretty good high, so I decided to ramp it up just a bit. I've noticed that normally-on a semi-empty stomach-it takes around 45 minutes for me to start feeling something, but yesterday it took a good two hours for anything to happen. This I expected, because of my full stomach. But the thing is, I didn't get more than a light buzz the whole time. I was definitely feeling something, but it was barely noticeable.

I guess my question is, did me having a full stomach diminish the potency? Or could it be something wrong with the brownies, or some other factor? FWIW this is a new batch of brownies that my friend made.

  2. well, I'm not the expert on this, but iirc your body can only uptake so much lipid at a time. it's one of the reasons I take my fish oil before a meal for my triglycerides.
anything that can't get taken up just passes through.
that's one reason why lecithin increases the bioavailability, it encapsulated some of the material into micelles I believe.

  3. Ah, that might explain it. I had a big dessert of ice cream and chocolate chip cookies...yep. Going to try again tonight on a less full belly.

  4. I believe you're supposed to have a snack about an hour before eating, and not eat for a while afterward for the edibles to have the most powerful effect. I think it's cause if you eat too much your body will not absorb it, but if you don't eat anything your body will just use up all the edible as a fuel source. Or something like that, haha.

  5. Did you see your friend make these brownies? Because if you're not making them, you don't really know how well they're going to come out.

  6. Unless you know how much bud he put in the brownies and how many he cut. I havent done enough edibles to know how it affects on an empty or full stomach. I know it seems like i get higher on an empty stomach when i smoke. An back when i was younger and used to do unmentionables a lot i know those hit you a lot harder and faster on an empty stomach. Cannabis like veggies is hard for your body to digest so you have to make it as bioavailable as possible. Thats why somebody earlier said to use lecithin, it can help with your body absorbing the cannabanoids.

  7. See, now this is weird. I eat some after/.with meals sometimes, but I aalways seem to feel it more in the morning on an empty stomach. Ill have to do more tests.
