ron paul 2012 = legalize marijuana?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by kbubb91, Oct 8, 2011.

  1. could ron paul be the answer i have been looking for. when will marijuana be legalized?

  2. He is closer then any other candidates.

  3. not just cannabis, he wants to legalize all drugs

  4. This being the first Presidential election I've ever been able to vote in, legalization of all drugs is definitely something that would secure my ballot

  5. He may be a social libertarian but he's also a laissez fair capitolist. I think that makes for a pretty dangerous combination.
Let the masses have their distractions so they don't mind being raped by big business.

  6. He wants to legalize all drugs.. not just marijuana. Idk about Ron Paul though, he VERY extreme. But who know, he might be good. Better then the dingle we have right now, thats for damn sure.. ..

  7. he wants to legalize freedom

  8. He isn't going to win, obviously.

  9. can you predict my future pls

  10. Yes, I see huge amounts of masturbation. Not trying to be a pessimist, but has a libertarian ever been President? :/ I am willing to bet my soul that he won't win, as much as I'd like for him to.

  11. look at the polls

  12. would you like to re-enforce that deal, cause i could always use more souls. and if he doesnt get elected you get pot

  13. As much as id love to see him win, Obama will be a two term president.

  14. Before we get carried away with frivolous debates, let me just make my one and only post in this thread to steer the conversation back towards the facts of RP + "pro-drugs"...

Ron Paul will not overnight legalize marijuana, or heroin, or anything else for that matter, but he will get the Federal Government out of the decision making process. Therefore, from my understanding, if you were in prison for a FEDERAL drug offense (non-violent), then you could feasibly be forgiven of your sentence. If there are any current FEDERAL laws against said drug (i.e. the "War on Drugs") then RP would address those mistakes, because these are issues THAT STATES CAN DECIDE ON.

The reason I bold that last part, is to highlight the small fact that it takes time to change anything. I do trust Dr. Paul when he says he will address it at a federal level, but then the decision has to go through the intricate process of being put on state ballots, voted on, passed and implemented.

According to NORML.ORG, these are the states that currently have some form of marijuana "decriminalization" rules on their books:

    States That Have Decriminalized

The following states have passed laws decriminalizing marijuana. Typically, decriminalization means no prison time or criminal record for first-time possession of a small amount for personal consumption. The conduct is treated like a minor traffic violation.

    Alaska
    California
    Colorado
    Connecticut
    Maine
    Massachusetts
    Minnesota
    Mississippi
    Nebraska
    Nevada
    New York
    North Carolina
    Ohio
    Oregon

Also, these following states have implemented some form of regulating marijuana for medicinal purposes:

    [ Alaska | Arizona | California | Colorado | Delaware | District of Columbia | Hawaii | Maine | Maryland | Michigan | Montana | Nevada | New Jersey | New Mexico | Oregon | Rhode Island | Vermont | Washington ]

What this means is, until this "pro-marijuana" issue gets discussed and voted upon at the state level, your rules will stay the same as they are today (with exception to the Federal ease up)

  16. Ron Paul is anything but extreme.

Ending the wars, bringing our troops home, defending civil liberties, restoring strength to our currency, and working towards beginning an era of peace and prosperity is not extreme. Kicking the can down the road, following the same failed policies we've been following is extreme.

Extreme is having trillion dollar deficits year after year, and not even having Congress run a budget.

Extreme, is the President, unconstitutionally bombing and invading sovereign nations without even consulting Congress.

Extreme is having 900 military bases around the world, and not even knowing exactly the number of wars you are currently in.

Extreme are leaders who vote to take our rights away under the auspices of 'keeping us safe.'

Extreme is a system that endorses Rx drugs which kill hundreds of thousands of people, and that number goes into the millions when you include alcohol and tobacco; all while people who grow and consume Marijuana plants are put in prison.

I think you have your definition of extreme, upside down and backwards.

Addendum: People who do not understand free market economics will always be afraid of the word(s)- Capitalism or free trade. Its a laughable though, because unless you're around 100 years old you haven't experienced anything close to free markets or capitalism. Capitalism and free trade have been dead since 1913. Our whole lives we've been surrounded by big government, fascist, Keynesian Economics, which everyone has been brainwashed to think is Capitalism. You're wrong, get over it. K? K.

  17. Ron Paul this might be his last time running !! He old !!

  18. Had a black man ever been president? How about a Black man who is doing a Richard Nixon impersonation? ;)

Anything is possible-under similar conditions in the last century, we quite nearly elected a Socialist, so its probably not a good idea to underestimate the influence of social disruption on the voting public.

And, during a period of severe economic downturn, the normally staid British voters elected these guys-Ron Paul getting elected seems much easier to imagine than....
