opinions on trimming leaves during flower

  1. i have always been skeptical on this. how the plant will react to all the extra stress. this year it was quality>quanity so im contemplating trimming the inner leafs. which i never have had to do.

this year i find my tops about 5 days away from being done however the lower buds. not popcorns. im talking 2.5-3.5 gram buds still need to need about a week or so.

now my indicas this year, master kush and bubba kush are really bushy.

what is grasscitys opinion on trimming inner leafs and fan leafs?

  2. im against trimming any leaves. they are a source of energy for the plant.

a common misconception is that trimming some off will allow more light to get to the buds..but almost all of the sunlight travel right thru them

I would like a better explanation of this theory of "almost all of the sunlight travel right through them" if the plant is using the light to make photosynthesis. How does the light pass through it? I would like evidence if this please. I can quote from High Times magazine and the Cannabis Grow Bible that trimming and pruning large lower excess fan leaves during the first stage of flowering helps direct the plants energy toward growing bigger flowers/buds.

  5. What's everyone's opinion on training those large enough to, I've just been tucking the larger ones in & around lower branches or ties I have in place. I'm not pinching or cropping, just a gentle bend. I've opened up tones of space for the lower buds which now will get 100% sun.

  6. I actually cut off any new growth/leaves close to the stalk. Bye bye. And then, you know how when u clone and u cut the fan leaves in half? U do that so the clone will root and also to keep in moisture. I live in the NW and we had 3 weeks of 90-100 degree weather so I decided I'd cut my leaves in half on my 1.5 month old plants. In the end, my plants stayed super green and hydrated and benefitted from it. It caused a ton of extra growth too.

  7. I've tried not trimming and trimming. The plants I've picked from to get extra light in have never been affected by it .They have much better bud development where the light is opened up.

  8. Don't trim while flowering leaves make chlorefill which the plant uses for food the more leave the food the plant makes the bigger your buds will be , those huge fan leaves will take in more sun and make more food than the tiny ones at the bottom will, you can remove dead leaves or Sickk leaves.

  9. I only remove dead and leaves that are 50 percent dead. Yellowed leaves during veg also get recovered. I trim off lower branches at the sort of flowering. A few days prior to harvest I remove all fan leaves to prep for harvest. I wet trim all my flowers. I dislike dry trimming.

  10. Fan leaves act as solar panels for bud growth so i would not cut them. I only cut the yellow water leaves at the bottom of the plant during flower.
