What the fuck is this society coming to?

  1. I'm a cashier at a grocery store. Earlier on today, a woman came in, got groceries, paid with food stamps, and requested $60 dollars cash back.

How is this okay? No, I am NOT against food stamps, I am NOT against the welfare system, I am NOT a republican. What I am against though, is the corruption in the system. Like, how is this fucking okay? You should not ever be able to get fucking cash off of a food stamps card. The government should see every. single. thing. you buy. It's the same concept as living with your parents. If your parents support you, they have the right to monitor you in ways they deem appropriate. If you need to live under the government's wing, they should damn well watch your purchases. Take from the rich and give to the needy. Not take from the working and give to the lazy.

    Fuck. /rant

  2. This thread makes me grateful I don't have to use food stamps.

They should make them big, like the size of a poster or something, so people would hate having to use them.

  3. There not actually 'stamps', it's an EBT card.

  4. So it just looks like a credit card?

  5. .... i don't use foodstamps but i've seen my friends lazy ass mom use them back when i was in high school .... it's a credit card now, and the only reason that lady was able to get cash back is because when they give you the money for the food stamps they also give you a certain amount of cash along with it....

  6. idk, but i'm gonna be making bank when i graduate and i could give fuck-all about anyone else.

    that's america for you.

  7. In PA they are obviously food stamp cards, idk about other places. It has the word "ACCESS" written across it and it's a blue and yellow color. Modest people who actually need the program will usually turn it upside down and slide it to me along the register or something, because from the back it does look just like a credit card. But the ones buying fifteen packs of bacon and enough meat to feed a family of lions are usually flashing it all around like, "YEAH I GET FREE STUFF AND YOU DON'T."

  8. Also. Like I said. I have nothing against people who HAVE to use food stamps. It's against the people who do it out of laziness and/or greed.

  9. No they shouldn't, because not everyone who uses food stamps is a cunt.

  10. This is what the fuck society is coming too.

Nobody cares about helping our fellow men

It's all about the Green and who you have to step on to get it.

    America at it's finest.

  11. yup agreed. I work as a manager at a convenience store and we get lots of ebt users here. No complaints. But i see some of these douchebags who get cash assistance (don't even know how. i think you have to be homeless or something) and guess what they use it for? Smokes and alcohol ALL DAY. Yup, makes sense to me

  12. Eh, you're right. :p

  13. My buddy had a guy living with him on food stamps. One day I was over there all he did all day was ask us if we would buy him cigarettes in exchange for some snacks.

But hey guess who makes millions off of tobacco... You guessed it! GOVERNMENT!

Yeah, because if they actually gave a shit about our health they would totally let Tobacco of all things be legal.

  14. Society is all screwed up... because food stamps?

What about rims on a hooptie? (is this still the proper nomenclature? i'm getting old man) I mean, that's some fucked up priorities.

  15. It's definitely sad how many people abuse food stamp assistance.

I remember back in the day I'd complain about not having enough money for something trivial and one of my friends would always say "you should apply for food stamps!"

Um, no I shouldn't. I can afford food just fine, I'm not going to ask the government to give me extra money so that I can buy more weed every month when there are people who are having a hard time just feeding their families.

Know why? 'Cause I'm not an asshole, that's why. :poke:

I don't think you can get cash from food stamp cards here, but that doesn't stop people from trading them for drugs.

  16. I'm not saying society is totally thrown out of all moral balance based on the fact that people are getting government assistance. I'm saying that there's a problem with what is acceptable and not acceptable in terms of government assistance. You shouldn't be able to do anything the government can't see or say no to if they are paying for your shit

  17. used to work at a corner store (kinda like a half gas station half bodega type thing) and people would come in and use EBT all the time. as i recall they werent aloud to buy cigarrettes and the store didnt sell alcohol, but i saw a fair share of people who were using it to buy unnecessary bullshit.

  18. I've never experienced this at work, but I guess it's because i work in a rich snobby area. What I experience most of the time is these people with 10 different credit cards requesting me to try each one. Then I get the people who when I tell them the transaction isn't approved, they ask me "why not?" like i'm in charge of their finances.

  19. i used to hate when people would tell me to run the card a million times. not my problem. stop wasting my time please

  20. some states are starting to drug test people who apply for food stamps GREAT idea i think. If you can afford that coke or even that weed you can afford to buy food. Arkansas did it, i wanna say oklahoma too i hope more start to follow suit
