Kandy Kush, Chocolope, White Widow LED - T5 grow

I'm starting a new grow and thought I would document it here. This is my second legal medical grow in the state of Arizona.

Strains:
DNA Genetics Chocolope Feminized
Reserva Privada Kandy Kush Feminized
Dinafem White Widow Feminized
Dinafem California Hash Plant Feminized (Did not germ)

Lights:
Blackstar 500w LED
Hydra Farm 2' 4 tube T5

Soil/Nutes:
Summer Winds Organic Potting Soil (made by a local nursery)
Techanaflora Recipe For Success

Misc:
4X4 tent, air pots.

2011/08/13
Put Chocolope, Kandy Kush, California Hash Plant seeds in damp paper towels.

2011/08/14
am
Chocolope sprouted... moved to a flora plug in soil in a small air pot.
pm
Chocolope broke ground
Kandy Kush sprouted, moved to flora plug.

2011/08/20
Chocolope growing well. Added small amounts of RO water when flora plug dries.
Kandy Kush grew like a corkscrew... pulled.
Cali Hash Plant did not sprout.

2011/08/21
Started germing a Kandy Kush and a White Widow using the shot glass method.

2011/08/22
White widow sprouted, nothing from Kandy Kush. Both seeds sink in the water. Moved to flora plugs.

2011/08/24
Calling this official day 1!
White widow and Kandy Kush broke ground. Chocolope doing fine.
Keeping under T5 only until KK and WW mature a little more. Then will add the led.

2011/08/29 - Day 6 (Day 16 for Chocolope)
Turned on the LED yesterday. Watered all with RO water. No nutes.
Chocolope growing well. Might start light nutes next watering.
White Widow and Kandy Kush doing well.

2011-09-03 - Day 11
Transplanted to 5gal airpots today. Chocolope is showing a nitrogen deficiency. Starting nutes next watering. The rootball in the picture is from the Chocolope... My hands were too dirty to take pics of the others.

I need to find something better to catch the runoff of the air pots. Anyone have any ideas? These just barley fit in the 14" plastic plant disks. No room for runoff. Had to use plastic boxes that are too big.

EDIT: PS.... Air pots make replanting so easy.

Great to see another Arizonan grower here. I'm curious if you have run into any deficiencies caused by low humidity here. Cant wait till see how your grow turns out, Im just getting into LEDs myself.

Hey now... To help with the humidity I ended picking up a humidifier and at least over the last few months my tent humidity has stayed around 40. I might pick up another humidifier if it goes low after monsoon season.

My first grow with this LED was 4 autoflowers I got free from Attitude. Crop turned out really good. Did have some nute issues that I'm trying to avoid this round.

2011-09-06 - Day 14 (Chocolope 24)
Chocolope showed some stress after the transplant. The bottom leaves got yellower pretty quickly.

Kandy Kush got a few dry spots on the lower most 2 leaves after transplant.

White Widow shows no issues.

Watered with 25% nutes yesterday (ph 6.8.) After a few hours leaf tips were pointing down on Chocolope. After 24 hours all plants seem to be loving it and are really taking off.

Was planning on going to flower at day 30 but now that WW and KK are a week younger than the Chocolope I might wait another week. Or maybe take them out of the tent and switch the lights on just the chocolope.

Thanks for stopping by.... what type of LED are you using? I love my blackstar so far.

I bought them from my buddy so I dont know the brand I have a 120 & a 90. I also ordered 2 180 watt blackstars and they should b in any day. I also ordered some afgan kush autos from attitude

2011-09-10 - Day 18 (Chocolope 28)
Watered all with ph 6.8 RO water. Will add more nutes next watering. All are growing great. No new signs of nute issues or anything getting worse.

White Widow is a bit shorter but it is primarily under the T5. I raised the lights so it would get more LED.

Chocolope is getting close to the point I want to start to flower. Going to rotate her under the T5 to try to slow her down until KK and WW are ready.

I'm thinking of swapping my T5 + some cash for a 240 watt veg blackstar. Will probably do it next week.

Hey RO76... Thanks for stopping by. I was pretty close to going hydro this time after watching your last grow but I was a bit nervous about water temp since outside temps were still 110f here for the first month of the grow.

Thanks for the kind words. I try to keep the tent tidy... It sort of pisses off the girlfriend and now she says I've been slacking around the house.

This is my first non auto grow with LED... I'm pretty excited to see how it turns out too. The autos came out great. Hopefully the photo period plants will do just as well.

I currently have the LED and t5 side by side 24" above the plants. They were at 18" but I raised them so the white widow would be more in the LEDs footprint.

I went ahead and ordered a 240w blackstar and am selling the t5 to a friend that is starting his first grow. It will be nice to get the heat of the t5 out of the tent. Want to start a separate veg/clone area eventually. Figured I'd go all LED.

2011-09-13 - Day 21 (Chocolope 31)
The tent is starting to smell skunky. Chocolope still had leaf tips pointing down, Kandy Kush still has slightly curled leaves. White Widow is still short but looks good. Decided to water with straight RO water and no nutes. Also trimmed off the first set of true leaves on each plant.

Moved chocolope back to the back and going to get the led closer to try to avoid stretch. Also going to move the T5 closer to the WW.

Switching to 12/12 Saturday.

2011-09-17 - Day 2 of 12/12, 25 overall
Switched lights over to 12/12 on 9-15. Received the new LED and removed the T5... The new LED is a veg model and will be used in a separate veg area after this grow. For now I'll keep it in the tent.

Chocolope has shown female preflowers. Still no sign from Kandy Kush or White widow.

Watered today with ph 6.8 RO water with 25% nutes.

Looking good. Probably with in a week or two rest of your plants going to show their sex.

Thanks... I'm amazed at the size of some of the leaves on the Kandy Kush. Easily bigger than my hand.

Plants are looking prime mate. I too am also growing Kandy Kush. Only @ Day 12 tho.

Good to see another Kandy Kush grower. I've not run into many others. This is my first grow with these strains so I figured I'd see how they do without any training. I'll have to keep an eye on yours as next time I want to do some training.
