well put. I was going to say something along those lines but not as fancy. Like it would depend on your perspective of what you classify as 'success' because like you just put, on some aspects they are very successful.
So true. For both of my deployments in Iraq we always talked about the oncoming power vacuum that's been created by displacing Saddam. And here it is.
Feds spend $1 million collecting "suspicious memes" http://m.theweek.com/speedreads/index/267058/speedreads-feds-spend-1-million-collecting-suspicious-memes
Too much anti government propoganda. They about to get cerial Sent from my LG-E739 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
James as usual taking data out of context. Here's the "raw" data: Notice how Jame's meme selectively picks just the 2012 and 2014 data points and ignores everything else?
I'm no math aficionado, but a wage increase from around $7 to $15 is a 2 fold increase, if costs would only rise 38%, isn't that still a large improvement?
I thought it was obvious that the meme was about Al Gore being wrong in his assessment. I understand why he made that statement, since from the information from the graph you posted, the amount of ice was relatively stable form 78-98, but then from 98-08, it fell dramatically.
If the sole purpose of that meme was to prove Al Gore's statement wrong, then all it would have to show is show a picture of ice in the Artic in 2014. But it does a lot more than that, for very obvious reasons. It cherry picked two years that were as contrasting as possible and displayed that data in big colorful figures and huge font. It's blatant propaganda designed to mislead the reader into thinking the ice in the Artic is expanding.
The only people being misled are those that dont read the meme fully, or take meme's seriously. The meme could of shown how the ice has expanded from 2007-2014 (when Gore gave the speech), which is supported by your numbers. edit: (Nvm it does) And if thats propaganda, then what is Al Gore?
Those are exactly the people that memes like this intend to target and intentionally deceive, hence it being blatant propaganda. No, data from 2007-2014 does not show expansion lol. If anything, a best fit line would be about even. Throw in more data points prior to 2007 and clearly expansion is not the trend. And my opinion of Al Gore is irrelevant to the meme in question.
Well, you arent reading the meme, so dont know what to tell you. Then your numbers are wrong. I understand there is more data prior to 2007, but once again, it is about 2007 onward. And so if it is even, then Al Gore is still wrong. I wasnt asking you about your opinion, but clearly Al Gore was lying (propaganda) in what he was saying. So whats worse, his propaganda, or the meme's? Who benefits more?
