Hey guys,

Starting it off right this time with a good grow journal. This is my second grow and first in aeroponics. Last grow was only 3 big plants in 5 gallon buckets, 2 were AK-48 and the other was Lowrider. Ended up getting about 5oz total, not what i had hoped for but it was a good start for the first time.

I moved into the house and the basement was a pretty good area for a couple grow rooms so i set to work designing it in paint!

Here is what I came out with

Posted Image

Decided to make our own 60 site aeroponic system for ~$300

Above it is a 1000w HPS with sunsoaker reflector

Posted Image

The mother room is still under construction, I think we might do one plant for every 5 gal bucket but its really a pain to change the water in each one. Here's what it looks like though

Posted Image

The clone room came together today just need to spray paint the top of the cloner white, all the little guys in there right now are bag seed, were doing a run through with some crappy stuff to make sure everything goes right. Right now we have a Medi-Bud mother plant thats about 10 inches tall, and we have 3 Medi-Bud and 3 Ice seeds in germination right now

Posted Image

The fan worked out pretty well, there is an old coal chimney that just needed a little cleaning in the access vent, so that runs right to the roof

Posted Image

Right now we have some bag seed in flowering, this is about the 2nd week. Looking to get some clones this weekend from the dispensary to fill up at least 40 plants until we get some good healthy mothers.

Temp: 80*
Humidity: 55%
PH: 5.8
PPM: 1350

Nutes FloraGro, FloraMicro, FloraBloom, FloraBlend, Liquid Koolbloom and getting FloraNectar.

Looking to try some different nutes for flowering and vegging clones for 1-3 weeks, any suggestions?

Also next week we are going to be closing out the room and completely sealing it for co2 when we have some extra funds. We will also be switching the 1000w to become the mothering light and have (2) 600w HPS lights above the aeroponic system.

Please comments/questions/concerns are welcome

im wondering how many misters you have to how many GPH your pump is?trying to get a grasp on ideal pump/mister pressure for optimal mist

we have 60 360* sprayers, probably going to replace everything with the EZ clone sprayers, we went cheap and im not happy but they still work because 95% of the root system is on the bottom and water runs over it back into the drain.

We have a 1000gph pump now but could probably be running 1500. how large is your grow?

so am i! not only for the bagseed but for everything once we have all 60 sites filled up!

the bagseed is probably a week behind where it should be because i was trimming into flowering period so they were probably in shock for the first week. they are really starting to stretch and grow now though

well im just no setting up my second grow and i upgraded my pumps to the 550gph activeaqua for about 30 sprayers and i can tell its a little low on pressure but i plan on lowering thed amount of sprayers before i get the system going. i cant remember where i saw it but someone had a gph/mister head for proper pressure and water droplet size... .cant find it though. check out my thread if you want to see what my plans are for the next grow. i'll be starting a new thread with the new build.

heres a couple more pics of today, they are really starting to hit flowering because of the week delay or so from me trimming them right as they were put into flowering.

Awesome setup man! Your running 1/4" aquarium hose to your misters right? If so did you just pop a grommet in your grow tubes and slide the 1/4" hose through then screw the mister on the other end?

Also, what connectors are you using on the other end of that 1/4" aquarium hose? Does it have a threaded end which you screw into the PVC and then a barbed end that the hose pushes onto?

With the draining I can see you simply cut holes into the bottom of each grow tube, allowing the water to flow out of each tube and into your eavestrough which then leads the water back to your res. I was concerned with this design due to the likelihood of algae forming from the water being exposed to light. Have you had any issues?

forgot to take a picture today before the lights went off but we lowered the entire system today so plants near light wont be an issue.

Yes and yes! the grommets arent actually necessary, you could actually just drill a hole a tiny bit bigger than 1/4 slide the hose through and it should be pretty tight, if it moved you could just epoxy or silicon around it.

Also, what connectors are you using on the other end of that 1/4" aquarium hose? Does it have a threaded end which you screw into the PVC and then a barbed end that the hose pushes onto?

no it is a little connector thats used for attaching two 1/4' hoses together or an extension i guess you could call it. Ill take a picture tomorrow. just drilled a hole in the water line put a grommet in it stuck the connector in it then epoxied it so it doesn't leak.

With the draining I can see you simply cut holes into the bottom of each grow tube, allowing the water to flow out of each tube and into your eavestrough which then leads the water back to your res. we actually just have it draining right out the end of the tubes into a 2" pvc pipe which then funnels to the middle and we have a 2" downspout running down back into the reservoir. Again ill take some up close shots tomorrow, this system is kind of just jerry rigged different ways. Unless the system turns out to be great, once we get some more funds put together well probably end up buying the General Hydroponics 60 site Aeroflow system but this only cost about $300 instead of the what $800 or so for the Gen hydro so thats why we did this first. But back to the algae, i havent noticed any problem the water runs through everything pretty swiftly not giving it any chance to grow algae

Very cool! I like it. I'll give some of those techniques a go with mine and be sure to hook you up with a link once all is said and done. I don't see why you'd go buy a whole new system if the one you've got is doing you well. It looks really well made and if it's producing I'd say stick with it. It'll save you a couple bucks and give you the gratification of knowing it's something you did yourself.

Thanks again for the help.

hey guys,

sorry this has taken so long to update, just been busy with life and building the room and getting everything together, oh and a lot of so i would want to start typing but got too lazy.

So we got the room all built out and got some mylar up. Getting a new roll soon and then we will wrap it good. co2 is here but we are still waiting for the PPM meter so that should be all setup next week. We are having some debates on lighting, originally got a 1000w HPS thinking it would cover everything, it obviously doesn't so i added my 600w and that helps but i think the bulb might be a little burnt out? it doesn't seem to put out the lumens as it used to but maybe im used to the 1000w now.

Anyway we are debating doing (2) 600w or (2) 1000w, our plan is to get two easycool 6's from htgsupply along with a 6" fan and mount it to the ceiling connected to the two lights and have it just blow air through everything and back into the room.

I have attached some pics of the building materials, if you have any questions ask

lastly here are some of the newest pics, plants really exploded and 2 of them are taller than the light just about. The medi-bud plant which will be our mother along with 2 others look really good. This strain really stinks, it smells right now in vegging i cant imagine what shell smell like flowering

Looks pretty good man! Thank you for the pictures of the smaller fittings and the close ups of how each are attached.

When it comes to your lighting have you ever thought about using a light mover? You'd be able to keep your energy bill at only 1000watts which saves you money and keeps you off the radar. Secondly your able to achieve the full coverage of your garden that your looking for. Just some food for thought.

Awesome! I can't to see the final setup. Are you growing out some mothers or do you have a source to reliable clones? If your growing your own what strain are you thinking of getting on the go for next round?

we are growing (3) Medi-Bud and (2) Ice mothers. The one medi-bud is in a picture i last posted but until they are big and healthy we will be getting clones from a dispensary
