Teeth pulled tomorrow, any advice?

  1. As the title says, I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow :(

Lucky for my, I don't have a phobia of going to the dentist that many people share. I don't, however, want to be in a crazy amount of pain as they gouge out my lower left impacted tooth piece by piece. The dentist I go to is known for pain-free sedation dentistry, and I think he plans to put me under pretty well. I had to take a diazepam tonight followed by a triazolam tomorrow one hour prior to going on. I was told I won't be out cold (full anesthesia) but it will be more like 'going in and out of sleep and you won't remember a thing.' The assistant then told me that I will have another triazolam, and if needed 'liquid sedation' whatever that might be. To top it all off, they're going to use nitrous as well.

I know all about the pain involved in recovery, but I'm more nervous about the procedure. Anyone have a similar experience?

On a side note, I can't do any form of sucking for at least 3-5 days. This means that straws, cigarettes, and pipes are way out of the question. What about a bong? Even better, a gravity bong? Would that be too much suction? I really want to avoid dry sockets.

    Thanks in advance! :smoke:

  2. After a day are two when your ready to eat and make Mac n Cheese with canabutter

  3. tell the doctor that if your not completely out and he comes at you with a knife your going to beat his ass, and that you have no control over it, its just a natural reaction. its in my medical record that any time a surgury of any kind is done to me if i tell them to put me out that they need to because a doctor was cutting out a cyst when i was in the army and i broke his nose as soon as the knife touched my skin. now it dont matter what they do, they put me out lol even though im not in the army anymore they transferred that to my civilian record

  4. When I had my wisdom teeth out, I was under full sedation... but if they say you won't remember a thing, I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone heals at different rates...I was pretty much pain free 2-3 days after the surgery. Some peoples cheeks swell up like a chipmunk for a week.

The best way to shorten healing time is to actually take it easy. Drink lots of water, take vitamins, and don't move around a lot. I would definitely avoid bong hits..it takes a lot of suction to clear a bong. I would just make some edibles before the procedure, so you don't have to smoke for a few days. You don't want dry sockets.

  5. You wouldn't have to suck really with a gravity bong, you just inhale and push the smoke into your lungs

  6. I wish you well, friend. I believe they give you a nice supply of T3's after the procedure for the pain if I am not mistaken.

It's unfortunate so many people have to get their wisdom teeth pulled. I still have all of mine and I wouldn't dare get them pulled. Best teeth to have for eating beef jerky. :metal:

  7. I had my wisdom teeth removed about a year ago. I had local anesthesia, like you're talking about. It's not complete unconsciousness, but more like the absence of sensation.

I remember them hooking me up to an IV drip and in about ten seconds I was out cold. Next thing I know, I'm awake. I don't remember a thing about what happened the next hour or so, it took a while before the drugs completely wore off. It was a cinch, not a painful procedure at all.

They'll give you a solid prescription for some opiates, and I strongly recommend you take them before the numbness wares off. I didn't, and I was faced with a good 40 minutes of excruciating pain until the pills kicked in. Other then that, it kind of sucks because you can't really eat for the next few days. Stock up on pudding cups and apple sauce.

I'd also recommend that you don't smoke. The suction fucks with the cuts on your jaw, for the same reason don't use a straw.

  8. Thanks for the advice everyone. :smoke: I'm sure it's going to go fine, but there's still that nagging voice in the back of my mind saying "what if the drugs don't work and you remember the whole thing?" One way to find out, eh?

I'll be sure to update tomorrow if and when I'm lucid enough.

  9. Be careful man , being able to feel pain even under anesthetics is more common than you think. Luckily I found out during a procedure at the dentist and not in some major surgery where I couldn't say anything. As soon as the dentist started drilling into my tooth I felt such an excruciating pain. It was indescribable but luckily I wasn't fully sedated so I was conscious enough to tell them I was feeling pain. Ask them to pinch you before they start drilling. Seriously

  10. the suction from smoking and the straw can reopen the cuts, and also give you dry rot, its pretty painful and i dont wish that on my worst enemy. actually i do, but i dont know this guy so be smart dude lol

  11. first they'll give you shots to numb your mouth, they get a big ass clamper or whatever and yank that shit out

  12. My advice: have fun with the pain pills!

  13. For my wisdom tooth operation, I was put under intravenously with some opiate sedative. Didn't feel a thing.

  14. go high. make edibles after.
