so they need 100,000 valid signatures by July, 2, 2012.
so they have a year to get the sigs needed, as of there last count (july 8th 2011) they have 19,111 sigs.
they have 1 year to get 80,889 sigs.

Do I have to wait for confirmation that my voters registration went through or can I just sign it?

you need to be a registered voter when they check if your sig is valid, but i dont know if they check when they sent it to be collected of when its counted on the dead line.
your got 11 months, so thers no need to rush, i would wait for your registry to be finalized, to be safe.

I miss read something somewhere. I’ve been saying the goal was 100,000, but according to the main site it’s 125,000, but there face book says 130,000.
After rereading some, my understanding is both those numbers are what the campaign would like to get, to help to account for invalid sigs. So the goal number is inflated.
The actual required minimal signatures needed are 87,213.
So as of july 27th they need 57,074 sigs (if all of the current sigs are valid)
so from now on if i post updated numbers ill include the minimal sigs for the ballot and the goal number.

I mailed my registration a bit ago. Any idea how long it takes before you know you're registered?

You should get the card in the next couple of weeks. The State of Oregon website is down for some odd reason so I can't post anything useful:(, but I registered at the DMV and had no trouble (other than some guy getting shot at Lloyd center when I was there:eek:)

Alrighty. Thanks. I forgot about the Secretary of State check if your registered thing. I'll just check that periodically.

Get your friends to sign in the meantime. I've got every older, nearsighted person in the building to sign one.

Serious question...can this somehow happen in Texas that would be cool? Austin,TX would easily have the 100k signatures from what I've seen there....

I'd like to see a politician come out in support of this act.
I think voters are a long ways off.
Oregon didn't even pass an act to legalize dispensaries the last vote. It got 42 percent. The voting mass and reefer madness generation is not ready for this.
I apologize for posting sounds pessimistic but just being real California needs to jump first.
