Am I doing something wrong? (storage of bud after purchase)

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by scornfulheal, Jul 9, 2011.

  1. GrassCity,

So, I've noticed this trend with my bud:

At the purchase of the bud, and it's of decent quality (maybe not top-notch, and definitely not medical), that the bud is nice and fluffy to the touch. Not overly though if that makes sense. There are nice solid nugs, but when you go to pinch some off you can definitely tell there is a flufflyness to it. However, after about a week of storage with daily access to said storage the bud seems to be a lot more brittle for lack of a better term. It seems to be more dried out where it "breaks" or "snaps" off the nug, rather than a more delicate and fluffy picking experience near purchase.

    Storage Method:
Either one ziplock baggy (i squeeze the air out as best I can before fully sealing, but I hear ziplocks arent completly air tight anyways), double ziplock baggies, or one/two baggies and inside a glass container with rubber sealing. If you've noticed, the goal I've been pursuing is as little air as possible. This is then stored in a room with only one window, and is either in a drawer or sitting on a desk, but not getting too much light (I hear light degrades thc).

I was wondering if this is normal, if the bud is cured poorly, or if I am doing something that makes the bud overly dry. Any thoughts would be welcome.

    Sincerely,
    Scornfulheal

  2. My buds slowly get drier and snappier the longer I have them. I think you can put your bud in a baggy with a slice of lemon or orange to add some moisture again if it's too dry. (harsh) I think you're only supposed to do this for a short amount of time to avoid mold, though.

So long as it isn't harsh, the "snapping" is nothing to worry about. A properly dried/cured bud will have that snap in the stem at least.

  3. Thanks. Yeah The only reason I haven't tried anything to slightly moisten it is due to the fear of mold. I wouldn't say it is too harsh of a dryness, I was just curious if this was natural or if I was aiding it.

  4. Does it make the bud taste like an orange??

  5. Personly I put mine in a mason jar and I make sure there isn't light around it and my weed seems pretty good

  6. no but it makes it smell "orangey?"
