The Gaza Freedom Flotilla 2 thread...

Discussion in 'Politics' started by SmokinP, Jun 30, 2011.

  1. It's not like these freedom people don't know this either. They know exactly what they are signing up for.

  2. Clearly it's just an excuse to provoke Israeli forces and then come crying wolf....

    Of course there's no aid..

  3. Well, there is _some_ cargo on those boats. The fig-leaf of aid the jihadis and their naive supporters hide behind.

But it isn't much. If we're generous, and considering the size of the boats, perhaps 30 truckloads worth of goods.

On any given day, from Israel alone, over 200 trucks with goods are transported into Gaza. Most is commercial goods, and about a quarter is humanitarian aid. In June this year, over 4500 trucks entered Gaza with goods. From Israel.

What is on those boats, would amount to less than a percent of the monthly traffic of goods and aid into Gaza. So obviously, the real issue is not aid. But rather Hamas wanting unsupervised flow of goods into Gaza. And there is really only one reason for that, they want to import weapons.

The Greek have by the way, offered to transport the goods of the jihad-flotilla for free on a proper cargo-ship. It'll go to an Israeli port, be inspected and then lorried to Gaza. The jihad flotilla have declined this generous offer.

  5. Even if one gives you that - how is the collective punishment of a civilian population justified by this?

This is a debate between the author of your article, a UN rep, and a Free Gaza Rep.

  6. it wasnt one, it was many. and the blockade of ships is not collective punishment. There are other ways to get aid there. That's the point.

Israel keeps out bulk of 'flytilla' activists - Middle East - Al Jazeera English

Israel seems to have gone into lock down and a state of paranoia in a deluded and disturbing attempt to prevent any attempt to highlight the plight of the imprisoned of Gaza and the West Bank...

Do they not realize that they are coming out of this looking very very bad to those that live in the "free world" ?

Palestinian children, traumatised by the occupation, are regularly arrested, detained, and interrogated by Israeli security forces.

    Shot by who ?

    Israel ?

The country that is occupying and imprisoning the citizens of Gaza ?

No problem with either of those media sources... In fact i view both daily...

The only media source i raised concerns about was the biased Israel News.

So where's all that aid they were so anxious to bring.....?

More like they don't want potential anti-Israeli threats flying into the country and causing trouble. Now tell me, why didn't the flotilla activists fly through Egypt? Isn't it an oxymoron that these anti-Israel/Pro Gaza activists are traveling to their arch nemesis country? If Israel is such a fascist state, why are they letting pro-gaza activists travel there?

    That was the Flotilla J...

    This is the Flytilla...:)

All about highlighting the suffering of the Palestinian people of Gaza and the West Bank...

Probably because they knew that Israel would as ever react in an OTT fashion and that by travelling through Israel they would bring more media coverage to the suffering of the innocents of Gaza and the West Bank...

The more people that are aware of the actions of Israel against the Palestinian people the more pressure on Israel to relent...

And it is not about being anti Israeli or Pro Palestinian..

It is about human rights and freedoms...

Gaza is a self-governed state (Hamas, the terrorist group was even elected in democratic elections by their own people:eek:). Gaza has it's own economy (they've demostrated a burgeoning luxury car market, shopping centers, and even water parks:eek:

  14. Flytilla...I get it, but where they able to bring any of that aid they were so anxious to being into gaza?

I'm guessing you also mean the plight of Hamas controlled Gaza as well right? Are you also referring to the suffering of Gazan's and their luxury cars, malls, and water parks?

  15. Ah the same old Israeli government propaganda...
Did you not know that the internet killed Israeli PR ?

They could have streets paved with gold and cocaine J...
    It changes nothing.

    Israel is occupying Gaza.

Israel has Gaza in a stranglehold.

Israel restricts movement in and out of Gaza.

Israel decides what the citizens of Gaza can and cannot have.

Israel has made Gaza a prison...

Lady in the above video really looks like a threat to Israel...

  17. Now wait a gosh darn second... I thought Israel was the only democracy in the M.E? a stunning glow of secularism and differing political ideologies freely expressing themselves?

  18. This was a silly comment my friend. The government's annoyance with these annoying activists who have no concept of history of the conflict is surely over the top, but does it really undo all of Israel's good qualities? It's not a black and white world we live in. And you know that, though obviously OP doesn't.

  19. The history of the conflict is irrelevant to the suffering of the civilians of Gaza.

All the Israeli apologists can come up with are excuses.

Blaming the Palestinian people for electing Hamas.

Making idiotic remarks regarding shopping malls and water parks...

None of this excuses Israel's behaviour.

There is no excuse for what the people of Gaza are enduring.
