SO sick of looking for a job.

  1. I've been looking for a job and have applied at like 40 places and haven't even gotten an interview... I've been on a t-break in anticipation of taking a drug test and it sucks not being able to smoke... Like it sucks enough not even getting an interview but this is also the first time i've been looking for a job after being arrested. I'm dreading having to bring that shit up in the interview even though it was dismissed. :(

I'm just so sick of not being able to smoke and not making any leeway on the job situation...

    Any ideas??

  2. Prostitution.

  3. Feel your pain, but as an aside, if everything was "dropped" then you shouldn't have to mention it, as there would be no record.

  4. Unfortunately i think there's still the arrest record.. I'm currently in the process of expunging it though.

  5. Telemarketing hires everybody, on the spot. Look up local telemarketing places in your area, they pay low wages but you make your own hours and they hire everybody because they give you a few days to "test" you out, see how good you are at telemarketing.

Once you start raking in 100-200$ each day for them in donations, you can stay with that job as long as you want.

I used to just work from 9-12:30 every morning, make a solid 36$ then chill the rest of the day with friends.

  6. dude! fuck a job! get on unemployment and milk that shit as long as you can! ppl werent meant to work 5 days a week 8 hours a day thats bullshit! why should we rot away at a place we dont even want to be and have to answer to someone else! we are all slaves to society and we must break the system!

  7. Tell me about it. I had a full-time job but i quit because of the labor involved. The pay was not worth what i was doing. Fuck the economy man.

I wish I could live in the mountains with a cute hippie girl and eat/smoke homegrowns all day.

Too bad the majority women are in love with money.

  8. You can pretty much expect NOT to get a job just running around dropping off mass applications.

You really want the/a job ?

Turn in the application, ask to speak to the manager, hand him the application, with your own resume and cover letter . Tell them you would really like to be a part of their "team" or whatever.

Dont just leave it at that , in 1 week GO BACK IN , and talk to to the same manager. Introduce yourself, let them know you are checking on your application/resume , and seeing if there is any openings yet.

If you dont get the job by now, dont be discouraged. Start calling to check on your application (by name) every week for 2 weeks before going back in.

The manager will recognize your name and face by this point, and see that your ambitious and really want the job.

    HIRED.

This is coming from someone that has been a business manager for over 10 years.
When you get applications all the time, you barely look at them. When it has a cover letter and Resume, you take a bit more time. When someone is practically beating your door down for a job, and they look respectable, they are the ones that get hired.

If you get a job from simply turning in an application , Id be leery that they are DESPERATE , and the job probably blows.

  9. these days its so hard to get a job in this hard world.

  10. You make America great !

    ;)

  11. Yeah i have been checking back in and they usually just keep saying "We haven't gotten the chance to look at your application yet. Sorry."

Meh i'm in college and i'm looking for part time. That might have something to do with it.

  12. yup yup, cover letter and resume.

Make yours stand out... applications sit in a huge pile, the manager wont even look at them until he is desperate to hire someone .

He will look at one that has a cover letter and resume, even if its for a part time job !

Keep your chin up, keep looking, keep checking back ! Youll find something.

  13. I doubt this works everywhere. Some people might think your an annoying asshole, and who wants to hire one of those guys?

  14. play football or something. they don't discriminate against those who have priors.

i wish you the best. you got a tough road.

  15. Have you followed up on any of them?

Ive put in maybe 20 but I have many leads.

Most are only "Our hiring manager isnt in/in a meeting"

I have one hooked, but Im not into commission.

  16. Last time I went to a place about a job I got that line :(

  17. some times commission jobs are whack.

luckily i worked at 2 that payed bi-weekly as well as commission. lame i had to pay it back.

better than not getting dick until you close something.

  18. This is really all you need to do.. Good luck to anyone that thinks this makes you look like an "annoying asshole." Wait until you try getting a REAL job. Chances are you'll have to bother the shit out of the guy hiring you.

Why is my generation so fucking lazy?

  19. I usually take it as that they are not hiring, but they dont have the guts to say it for some reason.

However, the places Ive talked to seemed very interested. One even greeting me to the department head that I was applying to

  20. the last thing anyone who is in a position to hire people wants is to be annoyed even more. by nagging they just either throw your resume/application away or just give you the run around.

a lot of quality jobs just put out that they are hiring to make it look like they are looking for new employees but don't ever hire anyone. state jobs especially. they hold interviews for spots they never had in the first place.
