Master OG's First Outdoor Grow 2011

Discussion in 'Outdoor Grow Journals' started by MasterOG, Jun 20, 2011.

  1. Hey all this is my first grow, thought i might as well start a journal so yea here it is. Unfortunately im starting this 2 weeks after germination, along with the fact that my plants became sort of damaged after spraying some neem oil/pyrethrum solution by the name of ferti-lome triple action plus.

    My setup:

    1x sweet deep grapefruit
    2x Thunder Bloody Mary

Got them from Attitude Seed Bank

So far they are in solo cups, with the following mix:

    50% peat moss
    30% perlite
    20% worm castings

They will be going into 5 gallon smart pots as soon as they recover from there present predicament, hopefully sometime this week.

Temps range from 85 degrees to a 100 Fahrenheit, its pretty windy and a tad bit cloudy today as well. I water when ever the soil gets dry

If anyone has any tips or any advice then please help a fellow grower out, this is my first grow and i need all the help i can get. Will be updating periodically

Thunder #1 is too droopy (most likely watering too often) and there's is nute deficiency...or perhaps nute burn you don't think you're feeding to much do you? It's very easy to over feed bud plants.

Okay your soil is slightly off. It's retaining too much water you need to get some perlite (for drainage) and mix it in with the soil. Becareful with the roots when readjusting the soil obviously.. Read the growfaq I posted and other grow guides on the internet, it's much better to go into this as educated on growing as you can be.

If you haven't already it might be a good idea to get some hydrated lime to neutralize the ph.

It's outdoors where are you located? It looks like it might not be getting enough light and perhaps it's raining too much. If it rains a lot where you live you will have to supplement indoor lighting with outdoor lighting only having them outdoors when the weather permits. Hope this helps.

  11. lol it does have perlite, gets about 6+ hours of sunlight, i havent fed them anything for a while, i water every 3-4 days. The reason they got so fucked looking is cause of an insecticide i sprayed on them and it burned the shit out of them. They're alright now though, new leaf sets as well as old leaves are starting to grow, one plant has pistils coming out so im just chillin on it ya dig.

Do you think i should transplant soon?

You transplant when the roots have made their way to the bottom. Just look under the pot and if they're poking out of the dirt it's time to transplant. I only have experience growing indoors but what I know is vegetation is about 18-24(on)/ 0-6 (off) hours and flowering is 12/12. So 6 1/2 hours i dunno lol someone else with more outdoor experience will have to help you out.

Oh and also the more hours + intensity of the light the more bud you get so keep that in mind.

edit: oh ur in dallas you should be fine then so long as you have the plants positioned in a good spot.

  13. yea fa sho, this is my first grow ever so im kinda nervous, but the fact that they survived 2 separate bug infestations, one underwatering situation and a full on plant burn this early on in their lifetime makes me very hopeful of them lol. Plus i just have to keep em alive for about a month and half and i should be enjoying the fruits of my labor :smoke:

  14. You said it has perlite but it should have around 20-40% perlite. get a pinch of the soil and press it down. It should be able to form into a firm ball but also break up easily. And it's your first grow so don't even trip. My first grow was in my dad's attic 7 years ago and it got nice and bushy after a month and half when he found it and made me kill it...I told him "after all this work you see that I put into it now you want me to kill it?" We both laughed...he still made me kill it. :(

I will say that you are doing good if you can make it to harvest, then every grow you do after that will be about refining your skills until eventually you'll be pushing out fire. But it takes time to get that green thumb for most people about 3-4 grows and you'll be able to call yourself an average/good grower. :smoke:
