Georgia Growers

  1. hello all, Im not a novice grower , i grew 20 yrs ago when there was very little police pressure, you could let your shit get 10 ft tall and group them 20 to a plot but not anymore, and the laws are quite stiffer today then back them.. im in a position now to where i can smoke again [ owner operator] and plan to grow my own instead of paying for it, i dont smoke alot now like i used to , so ill need about 2 lb a yr.. quite modest if i do say so , well let me get to the point if i may..
i already have seeds [ durban poison] plus about 200 bullshit sack seeds from friends, i have a great place to grow its right on top of what used to be a chicken farm [ 20 yrs ago] and the soil is like loom i can dig down atleast 12 to 14 inches with just my bare hands, its full of grubs and worms now , its like a 5 acres pile of old chicken shit actually... but my question is this how can i grow very small plants [ like if i make them bud very early and just grow as buds [ i did this once long ago by accident] they got about 24 inches tall and was just 1 big ass bud, do i need to bag them to fool when there small or is there some new shit i can try....thanks for the help....peace:D

  2. I haven't had any exp growing outside but one way you can slow/stop vertical growth(at least indoors) is to do somthing called toping. At the very top of the plant you will find the two new leaves forming. Simply seperate these two leaves and you will find a small round tip of the plant. Simply cut it off. This will slow your vertical growth down as the plant thinks it lost its top(which it kinda has) Where your plant use to look like this l it will now look like this Y . So you should get a increase in yeild as well.

In case you have any questions about it(I know I'm not the best at explaining things) Just do a search on these fourms on Toping you will find pictures and detailed explainations. You could also do a SOG or LST but it may be to much effort due to you planting outside.

  3. yes ive topped alot of plants before ,but what im trying to acomplish is basically 1 big cola , when i did it before i bagged the plants for a day and unbagged it for a day i did this for like 4 days just to see what would happen [ bagged = covering it with a bag when its only like 12 inches tall] only 1 plant out of 5 actually did what i explained earlier. i can visit my shit as often as i need [ very remote] ima check on sog and maybe cloning dunno this maybe what im looking for. im open for options at this point...:hello:

  4. Sog would be your best option then and the only way you can be sure of how tall you would like it. However you won't be geting just one main cola.

With sog you build a structure around your plants. 4 posts around the plants with a screen of wire mesh above it(like chicken wire). Simply pick the hieght you would like them to get to and build it that high. This way the plants will grow up into the mesh. At the end of the harvest you simply need to look above the mesh to see all your buds. There is more to it then I just explained but thats a rough idea.

Ethier that or grow the plants inside and get them to the size you want and then put them outside in late summer earl fall so they can flower.

  5. hey 5 assed monkey, fellow georgia grower here, when do you put em? or when did you put em out? and to make em small and bushy, the most light you can get, like a full 10hrs + a day and then to LST em, which is basically bendin the main stalk of the plant until it almost or is horizontal to the ground. But if you choose to do this method, dont expect the first plant you try this on to live as the first time is basically a learning experience.

  6. If you want one big ass bud, then cut the side colas off, all of em. It will direct all the nutes to the main stem. If you don't want them to get tall, plant late.
Bagging induces flowering by creating a 12hr/12hr light/dark cycle. This happens naturally if you just plant late. By late I mean early June or so. Sometimes the intense heat of mid-summer can kill a young plant, so provide a lot of water for it.

  7. You're thinking scrog with the screen and all. Sog is when you have a lot of plants and flower them early, which in his case would just be planting later.

  8. wups sorry left out the r, you got the idea though.

  9. fukit ima just go with the old tried and true ,plantem/waterem/and let them soar to the sky, but im quite dissapointed with the durban poison seeds i bought from oversees , not 1 fukin seed came up, not 1 , out of 25 seeds not a 1 has sprouted lol , but low and behold all but 2 out of 35 bag seeds sprouted.. go fiqure:hello:

  10. I have grow the same way everytime ive grown , tell me if im wrong here....
mid march i start , by using good soil like moisture control potting soil, fill a cup , pop in a seed, water 1 time , i alway put my cups in a clear plastic tub [ like from walmart], i also put some nice size air holes around the topside,so the rain and shit wont flood my cups etc and also it help to keep shit away from the little ones until they get about 12 inches tall , then i dig my holes, put time release ferts, mix good soil with natural soil, put in some of that [ i forget the name] gel shit that hold water, and then i let them go do what they do , i come back every week to check them.. i always have good luck and my seeds sprout at about a 50 to 75% rate.. but it does piss my off that not 1 of my bought seeds sprouted ....

  11. thats fucked up.. i get a 90% success rate, i had a 40-50% success rate when i first started growing all them years ago...

  12. youre not tryin to grow in that good ol' georgia red clay are you? all you will get is rabbitt weed.

  13. another word of reccomendation is to stay away from time release ferts, you always get better results when you control how much ferts and when they get it...

  14. no hes an old grower he knows better! :hello: right? (bout the clay) and bout the slow release ferts. I think there fine for a full growing season outdoors...

  15. really its each to their own, i cant make the decision for him, it was a mere suggestion, but imho you just dont get the control over their feeding schedule or nute strength at different times through the veg and bloom stages, little things like this can be the big things that dramatically affect your yields...

  16. Personaly i hated growing outside in GA... I did it when i stilled lived with my parents, but maybe its because its hell to dig in the ground and i always (for some reason...) decided to start digging when it was hot outside lol. I still havent figured out why i did that... But yea, you can make a screen and SCROG your plants outside, ive seen it done before. Worked pretty good too, just dont make it out of a material that conducts a lot of heat and you should be OK

  17. well one thing is that you mentioned that you are now an owner operator, well my friend has acknowledge me on the trucking industry, and well what i'm trying to say is that, being that you are gone alot of the time (month at a time) time would fly by and you would be astonished everytime you come back (month intervals) simply bc alot happens to a plant in a month,

and i'm guessing it would be difficult to tend and to properly tend to the plants needs and for you to provide an optimal growing environment..

but i could be wrong, you could also be a local owner operator meaning that you come home everynight and that everything that i said about you not being able to tend to it properly, in this case it wouldn't be a problem at all....

  18. no no i dont mean a truck driver , i own and operate my own business, right behind my house [ very small business that makes my living].
    ok back to the topic.
    1. I have always used time released ferts with no problems and i use other ferts also.
    2. Im paranoid as hell when it comes to the govenors irradication task force, they have found my shit twice and once with me watching them, ill give them credit they are good at what they do, so i grow a little different now ,fewer visits , only very late night visits, you get complacent with your grow and yo ass will be going to jail.
    3. as far as the seeds go i think i just got fucked, like i said the site isnt up anymore and they gave me way to many seeds for $20....
    4. the soil isnt clay everywhere in georgia the 1 good place i have is ontop of a 5 acre pile of chicken shit that was dumped over several years from and old chicken farm , its been there about 25 years all grown up and you can push your hand down in this stuff about 12 inches or so with little effort , no digging holes, and the shit if full of worms , grubs etc ... exceptional soil for it to be natural..
    5. i used to really get into the soil/fert/lighting etc but now i just use a few simple rules..1. always have good soil, natural soil if preferable
    2. most ferts that support fruit trees / vegitables etc will do just fine.
    3. visit as little as possible.[ be prepared to leave and never look back if necessary, i have done this , its hard as hell to walk away but its a sight better than the alternative]
    4. never put more than 2 plants within 100 yards of each other , ever never
    5. and always go late to check your shit , i mean 2 am I have never heard or seen anyone get busted in the field at 2am...

You can never be 100% sure you wont get busted but like i said im 1 paranoid fucker when it comes to growing, but you can lower your chances of getting busted in the field by using some simple rules..and sticking by them...my friend takes it a step further and takes a hand held $100 scanner with an ear piece with him when he goes to his shit, he has never had to leave because of a call but its a dam good tool.

you should check the laws for your state when it comes to growing, when i started growing back in 85 my county wasnt even flown over so you could grow a patch and when i got busted in 92 the fine was $850 and 5 yrs proby or until you paid the fine for 65 plants, but now its 5 yrs manditory minimum sentence in the state pen for 50 or more, you dont want that shit!!!!!trust ma!!!!

  19. oh okay sorry i couldn't assist your problem accurately :)

  20. thanks anyways bro , i have never professed to know everything about growing , but i know my surroundings and what i have done , but like everything else that can be inproved upon also..

Im always looking for the optimim way to grow outdoors and not draw attention, i mean look at it this way , you have lots of different circumstances, you have ppl that can grow in there backyards and its cool , some cant even let there own spouses know, me personnally my dad was a cop for 20 yrs and he can smell a j a mile away, and in my small community i cant even be suspected of this behavior, when i was younger ppl would look over it but as an adult in my social circles and work circles i would lose some friends and business, this is no copout or anything but im happy with my life but as we all know some ppl look at reefer in the same criteria as say crack or meth... :smoke:
