    Hey there my fellow blades,

I'm back for another run! Well, this run has been goin for a little while now, but its time to share with the community. :smoke:

I am aware that I'm posting a Hydro grow in the Indoor section, but I find that more members come through the Indoor section vs. the Hydro section.

Ok, let's get down to business. The setup:

    Veg Area:

    4ft 4 Bulb T5 Fixture (216W)

    Flower Room:

    400W HPS Setup
    4 inch Inline Fan
    Elf Charcoal Filter

I'm running closed 5 Gallon bubble buckets for each of my plants. I have an eight site air pump operating the Veg area, and a dual outlet pump for the flower area.

    The Strains:

    2x Blueberry Permafrost
    1x Rocky Mountain Kush
1x Barney's Farm Red Cherry Berry
    1x T.H. Seeds Burmese Kush
    1x T.H. Seeds S.A.G.E
    1x Big Buddha Blue Cheese

All these seeds are femmed. :D

    The Timeline:

    Flower:
"Lily" Blueberry Permafrost Day 12 of 12/12 - 57 Days Old

    Veg:
Blueberry Permafrost - 29 Days Old
    S.A.G.E. - 19 Days Old
Red Cherry Berry - 17 Days Old
Blue Cheese - 12 Days Old
Burmese Kush - 11 Days Old
Rocky Mountain Kush - 3 Days Old

    The Nutes:

I'm using the General Hydroponics Keep-it-Simple regimen. I did obtain free sample of FloraDuo A&B, and I will be testing this new product out. My full line of nutes is as follows: FloraGro, FloraMicro, FloraBloom, FloraBlend, Floralicious Plus, Liquid KoolBloom, FloraDuo A&B, and Botanicare's CalMag+.

Pictures in the next post... :smoke::smoke:

  3. Topped the BB Permafrost in Veg last night. Although the cutting's stem came out too short, I'm going to attempt cloning it nonetheless.

Here is a fresh picture of the topped plant:

That's all for now. When the lights come on in the flower room in a few hours, I'll have some pictures of Lily. :D

I've decided that I shall opt to use FloraDuo with the Burmese Kush plant. From the research I've done, I've come across a couple interesting finds. From a cost standpoint, the Duo is more cost effective since there is less parts to purchase. Not only that, but my calculations show that one would use approximately half of each quart of Duo A&B for one plant's growth cycle. Compared to the Flora Series' Keep it Simple program with FloraBlend included, Duo really stands out. The 3 part Flora Series would require around half of each quart as well, two thirds of a Flora Blend quart, and about a quarter of a KoolBloom quart for each plant from seed to harvest.

    So...
Duo = about 1 Quart of nutes per plant per plant.
3 Part + Blend + Koolbloom = a little over 2 and 1/3 Quarts of nutes per plant.

Note that these calculations are based on 4 Gallons of water in a Hydro setup. Soil amounts would vary and thus would need to be calculated separately.

I'll be comparing the Duo vs. the 3 part in this grow. However, I don't currently have the ability to do a side by side with the same strain. That shall come sooner than later though.

  5. Some new pictures of Lily:

    [IMG][IMG]

She is currently 34" tall, which amazes me... In my previous run, both plants topped out around that height, and this lady doesn't seems to be slowing down at all.

I eagerly await the tops to produce masses of pistils. :D

  6. I'm pleasantly surprised as my new bubble cloner has allowed one of my BB clones to grow root tips in 3.5 days. :D:D:D

The clone I speak of was cut from my Blueberry Permafrost plant "Lily". Lily was 10 days into flower when these clones were cut. I made a DIY Bubble Cloner in a 2 gallon bucket. This cloner has 5 sites in total. (Well, there are 6, but one is being used for the airline at the moment.)

Here's a few pictures of the cloner and the clone itself.

  8. In case anybody is wondering about the other plants in the flower room...

I have a green pepper, a Brandywine tomato, and a baby bluecrop blueberry bush chilling with Lily. I hope I can get some good buds, berries, and tomatoes out of that room.

    Peace.

    The Veg Area:

A couple of plants are not labeled in this picture, I'll move the veggies out for a better shot next time.

Yesterday was cleaning and feeding day. I was able to step up the nute level on almost all vegging plants. They are coming along nicely, I must say.

When I was cleaning out the bucket for the Burmese Kush, I noticed the Flora Duo left a bit of a sludge behind. It must be some thick stuff...

Lily is standing 45 inches tall and it's just amazing. :D She's popping pistils everywhere now as well. :smoke: :smoke:

  12. Mickey, going to read back across your other journal tonight. But, these pictures are perfect. A touch of heat stress, but still perfect. You've got a regular f'n botanical gardens going there! Sage, tomatoes, kind, shit I thought I saw some basil and bananas in there. Making italian sausage and growing some weed to keep the chef on point. :D

I would plus rep again, but us lowly "walking amongst the blades" type need to spread the love first.

  13. Thanks again man.

Lily is definitely under a bit of heat stress, temps are 79-86 in the flower room. This is slightly out of the optimum range, but my last grow went well with about the same temps. So...I don't fret too much. Lily is growing so much that I keep raising the light to keep it 18-20" above the canopy.

As for the herbs/veggies: I have Cilantro, Cherry Tomatoes, Brandywine Tomatos, Green Peppers, Green Onions, Green Bean, and a Blueberry bush. The S.A.G.E. is a cannabis strain, not the herb sage. No basil or bananas either, but I would love to grow those as well. Especially a Banana tree... :D

  14. I'd go for the ganja tree :D Mine usually get a touch of heat stress. It's never a deal breaker, just takes a few grams off the yield. :(

    EDIT - I'm sub'd

    Thanks again fm!

Here are some shots from the flower room... One of Lily's tops was burned by my hps bulb two days ago... I was not careful enough when I was lifting her out of her bucket for transfer to a clean one, and she touched the bulb for a second or two. Leaves burn really fast after contact with HID lighting it seems. I won't let that happen again.

The last picture was taken with a different White Balance setting than the previous three. I think I'll use florescent setting for the veg area, and the incandescent setting for the flower room. That way, I can shed some of that yellow tint. ;)

    Anyways, pictures below:

  16. Hey, Mickey, that is quite a garden you have there. Lily is a real beauty.

I managed to go 4 for 4 on my current grow topping plants and getting the resulting cuttings to root. I'd had a previous failure due to inadequate stemmage. What did it for me this time around was waiting an extra week before topping. Instead of topping the 5th leafset once it had grown in, I topped the 5th leafset only after the 6th leafset had grown in. That gave me more stem to play with.

It's great to see all you have going on here, Mickey. It looks like you are having a lot of fun.

Thanks Alatar! Glad to see you stopped in! :hello:

I think I will hold off on topping all my plants until they grow in that 6th leafset as you had said. I haven't really had much luck with cloning at all until building the bubble cloner, but now it seems they all will root. As for the BB clone with the shortage of stem, I highly doubt it will make it. There just isn't much stem under the neoprene collar what-so-ever.

As for Lily, I'm stunned... She measured at 48" tall today. That's not including the 14" bucket height. She has totally eclipsed what I was expecting in every way. My soil plants from last run (which I thought were pretty decent...) look like complete slouches now. If she continues this rate of growth, I'm gonna be looking up at her colas soon... :D :D :D

I'd love to estimate what the yield may be, but I don't know this strains' yield to area ratio... I wonder how accurate of a calculation that provides anyways... I see numbers for certain strains on the 'Tude, and I wonder...

  18. She's a big girl.

Some few of those estimates are realistic, but most of them are made up. That's my impression. If they claim it's a heavy yielder or a light yielder, I'm inclined to accept that as a general expectation. But those yields per square meter? Is that a SOG under a 1000w light with CO2 enrichment? It ain't my shower stall, I know that.

I never heard of Blueberry Permafrost. You kids and your strains. You will just have to flower her out and see. But I imagine a plant that size will yield well enough. :D

Well put Alatar, I was somewhat suspicious of those figures I was reading on the 'Tude. As for the strain, I can't find definitive information on permafrost... I think Permafrost is a hybrid strain and was then crossed with Blueberry to create my beans. However, that's pure speculation on my part.

From my previous run with the BB Permafrost, I was able to pull 2.65 oz. from two plants of what looked like different phenotypes of the strain. (Pictured below to illustrate.) That being said, I think I have an idea of what to expect. We'll see as it unfolds.

    Strolling down memory lane... :smoke:

edit: Had to fix picture resolution.

  20. That's an interesting picture, the two phenotypes side by side. Lily looks like a little bit of both plants. She is bushy like the plant on the left, but the blades of her leaves look longer, more sativa and her canopy seems less dense than the plant on the left. The one on the right looks tastier, with those long spider-like fingers.. That was a nice cola on that plant.

How tall were those plants, about 30 inches? I'm trying to formulate my yield estimate. And this is your second run with this strain? The second run always goes better. But those two plants looked pretty damned happy. There are many factors that must be considered when making dry weight estimates for buds that have yet to materialize. Though all my ponderings are unlikely to overcome my ignorance of the ways and weighs (ouch) of bubble buckets.

    :bongin:
