  1. Hi, I am a virginia grower and welcoming any other growers in the Virginia area or any other areas near Virginia to join this thread. We can talk about related problems we have with outdoor grows (pests, diseases, etc) that are common in out areas. The most known problem is mold in Va....

  2. Welcome to GC!

The biggest problem in VA (aside from the piggies) IMHO is the soil. All that clay!!!! Its easily solved, but i wish we just had some good stuff to start w/.

Thats a beautiful plant you got there. How much did you get off of it?

  3. thanks man wat area of VA are u at? i live in midlothian (south of richmond) and there are some places that are real bad wit clay but usually hill tops and stuff dont have as much clay as say the bottom of the hill top would

and i got a good pound and a half off that plant at the end of the year i grew it wit a friend and it was my first plant i didnt scale it because i dont sell it just personal use mostly but yea thats that

  4. Wow. pretty nice harvest.

I used to live right in richmond. I always wanted to drive out into the hills and find a nice grow spot but never got around to it. I'm up near dc now.

I've only had one outdoor grow make it all the way to harvest (others were found and pulled up, or died :(...) so i'm pretty inexperienced, but i love growin anyways. Somethin about raising a plant...

anyways i'm lookin forward to seein what you cook up in the coming season.

  5. yea good luck and hopefully they wont get pulled or die this year! wat was ur problem wit them diein? did u find out? well i hope we both have like the biggest harvests ever...keep growing!

  9. Holy shit I've been searching for info on growing in VA forever. And have a few questions:

Will sativa's grow fine here (I'm using bagseed)? How do I avoid mold? And what do you use to combat pests?

    Thanks

  10. sup downwiththesystem its me PCro.....from overgrow...how you doin man

  11. BUMP. Somebody awnser my questions please!

  12. Yes sativa's will grow fine here.

Dont overwater to avoid mold. if its going to be a rainy season, make sure you have soil that drains very well.

For pests, i've heard that boiling a head of garlic in water and misting w/ that will deter most animals.

    anyone had experience w/ this?

  13. I am in Virginia too, but only til August or so!... starting an indoor grow since I will be out of town b4 any outdoor harvesting...

How are the cops in VA? The Virginia state laws are pretty damn draconian and scary, but I don't know much about how the enforcement is...

are y'all growing on your own land? Remote? Guerilla?

  14. I agree about the laws here.

Its tough to say about the law enforcement anywhere because it inevitably comes down to the individual officer and what mood they're in at a given time. Theres not exactly a "statewide crackdown" on herb. Most law enforcement attention is focused on the hard stuff (and rightly so). In rural areas they have meth labs to worry about and in the more densly populated areas they are just taking what they can get.

Most police i've talked to here could give a fuck about weed though. Regardless of the govt propaganda, a lot of them know how harmless it is, so their focus is on drugs that cause real harm.

perhaps more experienced VA growers could shed some light on their methods.

  15. Nice plant!

Yeah I'm up here in Ashburn (the suburbs surrounding Dulles Airport), and there are some nice outdoor areas, plenty of woods etc. But the laws are terrifying and the cops are huge douchebags for the most part. DC and MD cops are cool but VA cops are very unreasonable in my experience. I'd love to set up some stealth grows but won't even do it in my house (which I friggin OWN) because of how bad the law can come down in VA.

It's a nightmare location for paranoid wannabe growers :(

  16. is VA weather/soil/everything that much different from NC...cuz i was goin 2 start my first grow soon...was wondering if u had any tips...sorry if this is not where i should post it...i was goin 2 start a thread but i wanted to know if VA is diff from NC...and your plant looks amazing hahha if mine is half as good as that ill be that happiest person ever...

  17. YES!:hello:

I'm from Midlothian, Virginia too downw/thesystem!! What part are you in. Did you hear about those two kids in the woodlake/brandermill.....

Glad to have a VA thread even tho i kno it says wyoming.... I live in Midlothian.

 I really want to try and gurella grow somewhere but it is so hard to find a place. I live in the suburb on a lake and there are paths and some woods but mainly swamp/sandy/tree's in this one area but it is sketchy to always go bak there near my neighbors house.

I am just wondering how noticable it wil be!

There is a lot of clay but in some parts the top soil is ok and your can always by some cheap soil.

Where I live it gets ridiculously humid and hot in the summer and I am wandering when mold would start to form and how can i prevent this with the possibility of controlling weather aside...

  18. I used to live in Charlottesville. I lived on the side of a damn mountain but still managed to grow. However, I moved them to a safer location and were subsequently destroyed, but it is possible to grow weed in VA. There are many places where nobody to this day has ever seen.

  19. Did you ever worry about the helicopters that fly over scanning for herb?

One time they came right over me and two friends smoking joints at the top of a mountain in Nelson 5 min. from Wintergreen. It was about 50-60 ft above us.
    SKETCH:rolleyes:

  20. YO Im in FREDERICKSBURG!!! I got a nice little garden, I only got ONE female out of 4. But she is gorgeous, 3 huge colas and tons of off shoots...I have no clue what strain it is so im calling it Virginia Red for obvious reasons and because of the Virginia Red clay we have here haha, The ONLY problem Ive had is with animals eating my stuff, but I fixed that problem. ITS BEEN SO DRY HERE, but HELLO TO ALL IN VA!!!
