You know the drill, feel free to post anything and everything anime related. Or aspects about it that piqued your interest.

  2. Not a lot of blades are into anime? Come on, really?

  3. Nah I just think the TV forum is shot.

    I love anime.

Favorites... NGE, Berserk, FMA, Now and Then Here and There, Texhnolyze, Gantsuk Count of Monte Cristo...

Looking for some more shows now.

  4. Damn, well I didn't want to post it in General because it doesn't belong in there as much as it does belong in here.

  5. Hell yeah bro, Death Note is immortal. ^^

  6. I think it's mainly because we already have 2 anime threads that get a semi regular update. One more than the other, but regardless. I'll never complain when there is an anime discussion.

    Top 5 currently:
    1. Suzuka
    2. Shakugan no Shana
    3. Black Lagoon
    4. Ouran High School Host Club
    5. Baccano!

Aside from the first one which only resonates with me for a personal reason, all the others aren't in an particular order. They're all series I love to death and could watch a hundred times.

  7. Plus rep because I fucking LOVE both of those series, you have good taste.

  8. Thanks. I appreciate it. I'm pretty big on anime. I'll watch whatever I can get my hands on, but I really lean towards the slice of life/comedy/drama stuff. I just love anime. It's incredible that cartoons can evoke a more emotional interest/attachment than a series using real actors.

I've been loving the stuff since I was about 8 years old and here I am 12 years later with an even heavier interest than before.

  9. Shows and movies:
    Berzerk
    Soul Eater
    Dead Leaves
    X/1999(movie and series)
    Gyver
    Neon Genesis:evangelion
    Vampire Hunter D(both of em)
    Demon City Shinjuku
    Ninja Scroll
    Fist of the North Star
    Basilisk
    Biohunter
    Akira
    Devilman
    Ghost in a Shell
    Twilight of the Dark Master
    Wicked City
    Sword For Truth
    FLCL

  10. Yall should check out blie exorcist. Its pretty interesting just started two weeks ago. 2 eps r out on hulu.

  11. I just watched Time of EVE. It's a pretty fantastic film that I'd recommend to all who haven't seen it. It's one of the most (if not the most) visually striking anime films I've ever seen. Here's a screenshot of an exterior scene:

    GITS:SAC 1st & 2nd GIG
    FLCL
    NGE
FMA: Brotherhood (NOT the original series)
    Code Geass <--- Fucking amazing
Steins;Gate <--- Only 8 eps out but pretty good so far, and funny
    Elfen Lied
Most (if not all) movies by Studio Ghilbi
    Toaru Majutsu No Index
Eureka Seven <--- Another great fucking series
5 Centimeters Per Second (and anything by Makoto Shinkai)
Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ (aka Phantom of Inferno)
Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tail <--- Classic shows but kinda gay because they have fillers =/
    D.N.Angel <--- Another good one :D

I've been reading a lot of manga recently so I've cut back a little on the anime lol. And these are just a few series off the top of my head that I liked a lot.

    And nice thread FadedSkies :D

EDIT: I like psychological thrillers a lot (kinda like NGE) and I heard Gilgamesh and Ergo Proxy are pretty good. Anyone seen them?

The only Studio Ghibli film I didn't like was My Neighbor the Yamadas. The animation and story just weren't all that great. Everything else from the studio has been gold.

Also, I didn't Ergo Proxy. Don't take my word for it though. It's just not my kind of style. I'm not generally into the action thriller genre. So I'm sure you'll probably like it if that's you're genre. It was well done.

Right now I'm big on anime movie kick. In the last couple days I've watched or re-watched:
    Grave of the Fireflies
    5 Centimeters a Second
    Time of EVE
    Perfect Blue
    Tales of Earthsea

  15. TRIGUN, Death Note, FMA: Brotherhood(Originals ok, but brotherhood is so much better), Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, that's all i can think of. Also if anyone could recommend me an anime like the ones i posted, i'd greatly appreciate it.

  16. Browse Anime by Category | AnimeSeason.com

Select Shounen. You'll find tons of similar stuff. If you want some direct recommendations:
    Outlaw Star
    Cowboy Bebop
    Samurai Champloo
    Tenchi Muyo
    Hunter x Hunter
    Kenichi
    Gintama

All fall under the shonen/action/adventure style.

  17. I've watched a ton of anime based on suggestions.. Of all of them the only ones I enjoyed were

    Berserk
    Black Lagoon
    Hikaru No Go

    Didn't like Death Note

Thank you very much! I'll check these our after some sleep. Also what's with people hating on Death Note? It's one of my favorite animes. Had a good and to my knowledge original story, great characters, was a very different anime to say the least. Only thing i didn't like was it lacked in action.

    Before i go, i'll leave a present:D

  19. Death Note didn't work for me. I just kind of found it boring and predictable. Also, it's not so much the anime that really turns me away from it anymore, it's the big fans.

It happens so much in anime though. Die hard fans go all out. They get angry if you don't like their shows and constantly get angry if you question them on anything. Like if you tell them an English dubbed version of the show takes away from the authenticity and reflects poorly on the setting of the series, they'll go into a fit (even though they've never watched the subbed because they want to hear English only). It's actually kind of fun.

Just my two cents though. Usually fans ruin shows more than the show itself.
