I'll be using both of FoxFarm's trios for nutrients with distilled water... soil.

    CalMag.
When should I start using this?
Is it better to use it only at the first sight of Cal or Mag deficiency or could I give it weekly for great results?
    How often?
Can I use this all through flowering up until I flush my girls?
What are the real benefits of this besides countering Cal & Mag deficiency?

    Molasses.
When should I start feeding this, as soon as I switch to 12/12?
Is it safe/good to use with bloom boosters like FoxFarm's?
Is it a good idea to only feed with this up to right before harvest like after the flushes?

Sorry for so many questions :p any answers you can provide plus any tips or advice are appreciated.

  2. That's about it. Helps the plants stay healthy.

    yep.

Yeah, but be carefull not to use to much or your roots can start to rot. It's also a good idea to use some bacteria side by side.

    No.

  3. Thanks broseph.

Does anyone and everyone want to add anything else to this?

I don't have any real clues about these, and have not bought them yet...
What is the best type of molasses to use? Any particular brand? What do I need to look and lookout for?

  4. Forget the cal/mag and add some dolomite lime to your mix. Will take care of the cal/mag AND keep your soils pH buffered.

Distilled water or RO isn't the best for soil grows. If you insist on paying for bottled water, use Spring water.

Grandma's Molasses is good. Available in the grocery store. Or, any unsulfured blackstrap molasses.

    Wet

  5. I've read something somewhere on this forum someone got from a book (I don't remember which) that CalMag acts as a pH buffer.

  6. Everything that you listed is the same exact line up that I use. Fox Farm has some new products that are included in an updated feed shedule. I haven't used them yet, but I recommend it.

I thought I would also mention that I've had great results with those products.

I use the Earth juice Hi-Brix molasses. I'm not saying thats the best, fertilizing is one of those things that you will find a lot of different oppinions. People tend to find their own way of growing.

  7. what are u growing in media, soil, soiless, hydro?
    cal mag by botanicare?
cal mag plus is a bio catylst, and its iron and mag and cal is chelated, its 2% nitrogen 2-0-0 on the bottle.
stay away from grotek cal max......it had sodium chloride in it
molasess brer rabbit is good 6% k
u could try a molasess based nutrient line as in bio bizz grow and bloom which are derived from molasess or earth juice made by hydro organics, im pretty sure all there line of products is made with molasess.
if u can find sugar beet molasess that is the kind the big manufactures use in great fertilizers.
    hope this helps

Thanks dude, keep em' coming people, anything else you can add. I'd like to know as much as possible; I appreciate it all a lot.

  9. i usually tend to use molasses in the last 4-5 weeks of flowering. i use the one with the rabbit on it. never used any product that has cal-mag in it since i am using tapwater in a soil grow. the water in my area is a little hard, but never had any problems a good flush couldn't take care of. never had a cal-mag diff. so i didnt see it necc. to buy. the plant lady at the hydro store said i probably wont ever need it since the municipal water supply has lots of minerals. gotta love that rocky mountain springwater.

  10. Quick question. Are you growing indoor or out?

  11. how can i tell if i have a cal mag deficiency?? what does ph buffered mean?

is foxfarms ocean forest soil ph buffered? does that mean i dont need to ph my water??
plz help man im a beginner grower here.

    srry for hijacking thread

  12. indoor, soil, complete FF lineup with bushdoctor products. 800w veg, 3000w flower. premium soil with mycorrhizae. 75 degrees in both rooms. 60%Rh in veg, 50%RH in flower.

  13. FFOF is pHed to the correct pH for your plants out of the bag, about 6.5. You won't have to fiddle around with the pH really at all in soil until you start nutrient feedings. Adding fertilizers to a gallon of water usually tends to bring down the pH and will have to be adjusted first before feeding. A buffer is... in the best way I can explain it... tends to keep pH more stable. A pH buffer like dolomite lime for example has a neutral pH and can buffer up or down the pH of water going in and coming out (runoff). I'm not any expert so I could be wrong... that is the best explanation I can provide from the top of my head.

  14. I have not seen this to be the case.

Thanks everyone for your intelligent insight.

With soil and distilled water, if I am following the FoxFarm feeding schedule...
How often should I use CalMag?

...since the water I'll be using has no minerals in it.

(I'm feeding every other watering with FF nutes starting with 1/8 strength and building it up to full)

  16. From what I've read its kinda hard to overdo it with CalMag. I've been using 1 tsp/gal with every watering and haven't had any problems. Started using a few weeks into flowering

  17. Just to say, I read something, I can't remember what it was, but it was saying that Calcium is rarley deficient in Indoor plants. It seems to me that the Fox Farm Line was mainly intended to be used indoor. I haven't seen calcium listed in any of their products.

I use the whole fox farm line up myself and I love it. I use it Indoor and out. When I use it outside at some point I use the CAL/MAG. You have to take into consideration that an outdoor grow is significantly longer than a typical indoor grow and more likely to develope a calcium deficency.

    I haven't had any problems with CAL/MAG.

  18. Just use a table spoon of grandmas blackstrap for each plant with everyother feeding. it costs like a buck and it's a concentrated version of what all the manufacturers put into their bloom enhancement mixes. get your self some technoflora magical or botanicare calmag. they are the best, and any grower that has used either one of them will stand by them because they show results nearly immediately. technoflora is a bit less expensive and comes in a black bottle to stop light degradation.

Dolomite lime is also good (in soil a must) but is in no way a replacement.

i noticed when i just started using cal mag that when i added it to nutes at end, when i checked ph it was 6.4.......i lowered it to 6.0 and ran with it, maybe it buffs 6.4 6.5 ish???
make sure what cal mag product u buy doesnt have sodium chloride in it.........
grotek calmax has sodium chloride in it

  20. so how can i tell if my plants have a cal/mag deficiency?
like how does it look like discoloration??
