How could you wire 4 120mm computer case fans?

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by moonbiter, Mar 31, 2011.

  1. How would you go about wiring 4 120mm computer case fans without having to use a computer power supply?

I am planning you using 4 120mm fans on each side of a CFL grow cabinet, but do not want to have introduce a computer supply into the equation.

Ultimately I would like to be able to just plug an extension cord into a socket and have either all 8 run, or have a plug for each 4.

Does anyone know how to achieve this wiring job, or know what direction to point me in?

    Thanks!

  2. Man, talk about the perfect answer! Thank you so much for the link!

Now I need to push the question just a bit further.

If you took four of these [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039825LM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER"]FAN[/ame].

What charger would I need, I can't seem to locate the mA needed per fan.

    Thanks again!!!

Hmmm... It should say right on the packaging.

I did a zoom on the photo and Im pretty sure it said 0.16A (or 160mA)
So just get any charger that can hold over that amount.
For example, If you have four of these fans, then you'll be using 640mA. Buying an adapter that can hold anything over 400mA should work.
I recommend just getting a 1500mA adapter just to be safe.
