  9. I've been wondering lately, how does the NAP apply to animals? As a deontological ancap am I a hypocrite for eating meat?

  10. A political science professor I am friends with has incorporated NAP into his class on American Politics I basically coteach that class but I am not paid for it. He calls it the associative principle but its the same thing. In the course I help teach for money on International Relations I have included noninterventionist foreign policy and the importance of free markets and free trade in preventing war. In my other course on terrorism I have included the principle of blowback.

I just thought I would share some positive news on the spread of libertarian ideas and this seemed like the best place.

  11. Sadly i wonder if people will ever be able to seperate from the religion of statism.

People just think you need force to control people.... its sad

But he's also still the only public figure with such a high profile and level of influence speaking out in the media like he is... And in a lot of ways he's still probably one of the best hopes (election and influence-wise) to turn our country around.

I know I'm the one usually sticking up for Rand on this site... And I understand some of the hate toward him, although not totally, but maybe on more of a surface, approach, or even subjective level... But I've asked many people on this site to elaborate WHY he's so bad.

I mean, sure, some of his statements on foreign policy and stuff like sanctions have been pretty bad and I don't think he can touch his father as far as honesty or integrity (although, he surely gained a lot from his dad).

But I recognize that he's pretty much forced to play a slim or cautious political line if he ever wants to get elected.

And I can't help but at least be a bit encouraged that he still can and does speak out in a way that no one else will - that he's still the only person with such a high level of political influence touting the ideas he is. That he's the only on apparently with any type of defined and coherent political philosophy, at least.

I mean, I've never voted in a presidential election to be honest, sadly I've never liked or believed in the options and always figured my vote didn't really matter much anyways...

The way it's starting to shape up in 2016, it looks like it'll either be something like Rand vs. Hillary or Jeb Bush vs. Hillary. :(

I trust Rand Paul more than I do Ted Cruz.

  14. yeah, i've heard this narrative so many times, i could recite it backwards. replace rand paul with obama and thats what people were saying in 2008

bottom line: rand paul is a fake libertarian, or he will never get elected.

he won't do jack shit to turn the country around.

Well, I think you're being very general by calling him a "fake libertarian" and saying he's just like Obama was in 2008.

I tend to believe there IS a point to be made there though - with Obama being a constitutional scholar and HE DID have some good rhetoric back then... But Paul is speaking more ideas than Obama was, and from more of a constitutional basis. Obama's rhetoric wasn't much different than Clinton's or Kerry's or Edward's.

So yes, I think we could get screwed placing our trust into ANY politician (to turn our country around - especially if it's on the presidential level).

But I AM convinced the ideas of the country have changed a lot since Obama and people understand a lot more and are more knowledgeable.

And I DO believe that Rand Paul has grown up since his teenage years with the same intellectual ideas as his father.

Whether he'll follow those ideas once he gets into office is the question I think we're both concerned with. He COULD do a whole lot of he's elected to turn our country around, the question is: will he?

But of course, I agree with your apparent sentiment that placing too much trust and confidence into ANY politician could be dangerous. Especially the president.

But if our only choices are gonna be Kerry, Biden, Bush, Clinton, Cruz, or Paul in 2016... And it's gotta be one or another lol... I'd rather see Paul get it, since I know with a lot more certainty that those other choices would be dangerous.

Of course Paul is still a question for me, although I tend to trust him more than a lot of other people in politics.

^I didn't reply back to your PM because I literally couldn't care less who you'll support for president. If you think Rand is the man with the plan than so be it. I no longer have the time or energy to debate this sort of thing on the internet, its sort of like jerking your dick without lube. Sure its fun for a little bit but eventually your dick gets sore and you're right back where you started.

Well, I wasn't specifically talking about you, and in no why have I tried to allude that I think "Rand is the man with the plan" or advocating my support (other than saying if it was him or Clinton, I'd rather see him... Which isn't saying much).

I was just trying to get your intellectual opinion since your someone who's ideas I mostly respect and someone who I've learned from.

I'm just trying to be objective in my investigation, and trying to understand. I'm not trusting anyone yet. Most politicians suck, although I tend to think some are better than others. If only in rhetoric. <_<

I'm sure there would be tons and tons of people who I would trust more as president, most of course aren't politicians. But I do have some respect for Rand, being one of the only in office with a high level of influence actually talking about this stuff.

I mean, it's a small list of those in office who talk about some of these ideas.

  18. you think anything anyone who is running for election sais is trustworthy?
