  1. Does anyone know if DRs at Kaiser here in Cali are MMJ freindly? Here is the deal. I've suffered from migraines for about 20 years. Until recently though its just been maybe one migraine per month. So I've never gone to the DR for it. I've just delt with it whenever it happened. Over the past few months though my migraines have increased to more like once per week. Whenever I've gotten a migraine lately I've just smoked a little bowl and within 10 minutes the migraine is gone and i can just chill. I tried MJ for my migraines because a friend told me it would help, and it did! I am going to go the DR about the increase in my migraines, but I don't want to go on pills for the migraines. I know MJ helps, so I'd rather use it instead. I was wondering if I should mention the MJ to my DR and see what he says, but I'm not sure if Kaiser is MMJ freindly or not. Anyone know? Would it be better for me to just let the DR write a percription for migraine meds, then take the perscription to a MMJ clinic for and evaluation?

    Thanks.

  2. Kasier is VERY unfriendly to medical cannabis. I had a problem with eating and major weigh lost due to that (50+pounds) and 4 different dr's all from kaiser they told me that marijuana was the problem. Without it I wouldn't have been able to put back on weight, turned out to be mental health.

Anyhow, what you do, tell you dr that, or about it. He will write it in the summery that you can print off at home (kp.org), bring that paper down to your local place(I always go with and recommend medicann.

    $150, to do it.

  3. i use to have kaiser and have friends/family that still do. i agree with the poster above me that kaiser wont be very likely to help you get a card.

doctors put a lot at risk with their licenses to practice medicine when suggest medical marijuana to one of their patients. unless a doctor specializes in this area its hard to find one willing to say you need medical mj unless you have cancer or some other serious illness in which medical mj may help you...even then some doctors wont do it as they dont agree with mj...

with that being said ill pm you a little info about a doctor who will be a bit more sympathetic to your problems...

  4. They are actually more MMJ friendly then you would expect someone as big as Kaiser to be. There's still no way in hell they will even consider MMJ for headaches though. Only a specific MMJ doctor will give you a rec. for headaches most of the time..

  5. Thanks for the responses all. That's what I figured.

@tgjester its not for headaches, its for migraines. Anyone who gets migraines knows that they are much different than a headache.

  6. first.. kaiser blows..find a better hospital :)

second.. thats not the place to go for mmj (hospitals are all about that $$ man! gotta push those PILLS, pharmaceuticals are where its at right now)... marijuana is the last direction they would point you in, because then, how would THEY be benefiting from your hard earned cash?
    seriously, fuck them.
just google medical marijuana evaluations in california and i guarantee you'll be bombarded with links to doctors that will help you out.

if you are around O.C./L.A. area, pm me and i can refer you to a legitimate mmj doc who is very affordable.

I know migraines are much more serious than headaches didn't mean to minimize your issue or anything. What I meant to say was Kaiser will probably only give you a mmj rec if you have cancer or aids or something that serious. If you go to one of those pot doctors you will have no problem though.

  8. in my experience kaiser wont help you at all, my old doctor got really nervous when I asked If instead of sleeping pills I could get a marijuana recommendation, his answer was no because it was illegal.

dont bother, just go to a pot doc.

  9. I want to start by saying that I'm really sorry for bumping this thread! I know its a bit out of date! This is the only thread that has relevant info from people that have already dealt with this. But I have kaiser and was just diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis which is causing all sorts of other issues, I just emailed my GI doctor (he's actually a really nice younger dr who was completely real with me when I asked him about my condition). I'm taking about 7 different medications for this... I was just wondering how much more expensive it is to see a different doctor, and how difficult the process is.

I'm sorry, I'm completely new to this, and I don't really even smoke weed recreationally. This condition is just a total killer! Any info is amazingly greatly appreciated, and if it helps at all, I live in the sacramento area.

  10. its not difficult at all in cali. google "Medical marijuana doctors in sacramento" or something like that.. i guarantee you'll find a link to a legitimate place or two and just bring in your drivers license and maybe some medical records (depending on the place you go to).

  11. What you should do is talk to your kaiser doctor about your headaches and get him to record it in your medical history; he might even prescribe something.

Take the pills or not it's up to you, but once you have a documented medical condition or symptom that marijuana can help with, you pretty much have an airtight case for an mmj card in cali.

Like others mentioned, always go to a popular pot doctor for your recommendation, it's like going to a physical therapy or chemo or any other kind of specialist; not only will they be more likely to recommend the treatment you want but they will probably know more about it and be able to discuss various things like side-effects and the most effective strains and everything.

Plus it feels so good to be able to open up to someone who understands how much it really can help, and my pot doc is also really anti-Pharma so I totally feel like we're on the same wavelength

  12. Thank you for the response! I will check into that. I don't know if this is the right place to be asking, but is it very costly to see an mmj doctor?

Also, I did just talk to my regular doctor and he said that as open as he is to medical marijuana, they generally only prescribe it to terminal patients with cancer and aids.

  13. Up here in Oregon it's $195.00 for a mmj doc visit.

I paid $140 plus $20 for the state registration

  15. Oops! I mean $120 for the visit and $20 for the card...total of $140

  16. a renewal here in colorado is about 60bux.

i think a first time as much as 120 as little as 70

  17. a friend of mine told his doc at kaiser that he had medical mary jane and the doc told him he wound not prescribe him anything until he stopped taking mmj

  18. We've gotten too far off topic here. The question wasn't where to get a MMJ recommendation, it was specifically about Kaiser.
