Hey GC, it’s been a while since my last Journal. Unfortunately my 2010 grow didn’t really work out due to construction on the road about a mile from my site and increased law enforcement activity, I abandoned the site after only digging a few holes…

Anyways, onto the current situation this year! I will be digging 6 holes for the 6 different strains that will be grown. The bottom half of the holes will be filled with my proportions of the "Subcool's Super Soil Mix", while the top half will consist of just Roots Organic. If growing my plants in purely Roots for the first month or two of their lives will I need to possibly add any nutrients? Or will Roots be able to supply enough nutrients? It looks like its got some goods in there but probably not a very high concentration right?

Roots Ingredients: Coco fiber, peat moss, perlite, pumice, premium worm castings, bat guano, kelp, fish bone meal, soy bean meal, feather meal, greensand, leonardite, and alfalfa meal

    The Stuff:

    Base Soil:

    • 20 parts Roots Organic (~60lbs)

    Super Soil:

    • 20 parts Roots Organic
    • 2-3 part Worm Castings
    • 2/5 part Bat Guano Part (What kind? Mexican? Indonesian? Jamaican?)
    • 2/5 part Steamed Bone Meal
    • 2/5 part Blood Meal
    • 1/3 part Rock Phosphate
    • 3 Tbsp. Epsom Salts
    • 2 Tbsp. Dolomitic Limestone
    • 2 Tbsp. Azomite
    • <1 Tsp. Humic Acid?? <--(Do you really need this?)

I will combine the ingredients at the beginning of March in a large tarp and then let it bake in a trashcan covered by the same tarp for a couple months, or until my girls are strong enough to enjoy the nutrients. Ice, Black Rose, and Northern Lights will all receive 1/3 super soil while PPP, Morning Glory, and BLZ Bud will recieve 1/2 super soil.

    The Strains (Single Seeds, Feminized):

    • Ice (Indica Dominant)
    • Pure Power Plant (Sativa Dominant)
    • Sugar Black Rose (100% Indica) FREE!
    • Morning Glory (Sativa Dominant)
    • BLZ Bud (Sativa Dominant)
    • Northern Lights Blue

I ordered the seeds February 17th, so they should be here within 2-3 weeks at the latest. Will post pics of the site that I am clearing and supplies as soon as I get them (beginning of March).

Favorite Bud Shots of my last grow:

  2. yay organic. ill have a nor cal outdoor grow too. 6 plants, probably from clones. any strains uve had experience with outdoors?

ill note your soil mix, looks like it has loooots of goods for the plants.

  3. My outdoor knowledge is somewhat limited in regaurds to strains, Purple Urkle, OG Kush & Sour D

This will be my first time for each of these strain along with my first time buying seeds instead of clones. I am hoping for superior genetics from Attitude, you going to make an organic journal? Or know what strains you are going to grow?

Seeds arrive tomorrow or Friday! :smoke:

  4. ive seen ice clones in the club. heard they have great genetics and yields. sounds sticky.

ill get clones. some clubs prefer special order, others have in house cuttings only.

    top strains...so far:
    super silver haze
    blue dream
    green crack
    sensi star
    ___
    ___

a journal would be appropriate. thanks for the suggestion. u growing guerilla style?

  5. I just took blue dream bed time rips that I picked up from Sonoma Medicinal Herb. Drove an hour and a half there and back to get an eight of some kill 'cus of some of the poor quality recently, and green crack is the shit if grown well.
As for guerrilla style, I guess you could call it that. But they will all be in one spot, maybe two. Probably trying to top them a few times during veg then tie a few of the branches to the pots just to plump them up a bit before transfer into the ground.
You know to start your clones in the shade right? I messed up a couple plants on my first grow by putting them too far into the sun. Anyways, I'm bout ready for bed. Ill try and post a pic of the blue dream tomorrow. Peace. :smoke:

  6. What nutrients are you planing on using. I've always used Fox Farms for base nutrients, but plan on using Supernatural. My buddy swears by it outdoor. Said he had stalks you bigger then you can grab with one hand. Love some input on what your doing for outdoor.

Well I'm using super soil on the base so I can just feed them just water through out the last part of veg and all of flower, but do you think I will need veg nutes for when they are in the pots just starting off between 4-10 inches? I will be using purely Roots Organic in this stage so if there are deficiencies I assume I'll need some sort of supplement or tea?

On the bright side, I received my seed yesterday, 8 days from the time I clicked checkout. Props to Attitude! Ive been pulling scotch broom for a few hours clearing out my new spot.

Here are my seeds, the two on the bottom that are illegible are Sugar Black Rose and Northern Lights Blue. I love the Cali Connection mug, definitely worth the stealth for only $10.

Here is the start to my site, first part of my first hole dug (about 1' wide x 1.5' deep)trying to go a little bigger, as you can see all I had was that 1ft long hand shovel...ha. Will be clearing the rest through out the next month. Picking up soil, and composts this weekend.

  8. indoors i wait 2-4 weeks during veg before adding nutes. i think that lets the plants use up the nutes in the potting soil, then you can give em a boots of nutes once their roots are established.

ive seen and heard lots of buzz about the ice strain. im stoked for ya.

Thanks ImaB, I went to my local hydro store, A Fertile World which originated in Humboldt County :smoke: and they confirmed your 2-4 weeks of nutrients in the Roots.

I went back and they gave me some dolomite for free, and because you can't plant seeds directly into Roots Organic, they through me a nice starter bag of the Sunshine #4 which I have heard some great things about.

After going the past few days, I have come to the conclusion that it is absolutely necessary for me to start these guys inside if I really want a decent germ rate. You guys believe this as well?

Here's what I have so far, I was up for until 4:20am hauling shit. I am still going to have to go back and buy another 3 cubic feet of Roots because I am increasing my hole size to ~2x2x2, this way even if only four germinate they will at least be somewhat monsters. I also still need to get Blood Meal (ugh), Azomite, and a wee bit of humic acid

*Thing in tree is a rolled up fence for when i transplant outside*

    Peace!

  10. Great pics. Gotta love mother nature.

I think the holes u dug will b alright. If u mix the native soil w ur mix, u may want to sift for rocks or roots.

Cool location. The brush makes it seem well hidden.

  11. No native soil for me, too clay/rocky. Got home at 4:20am from lugging soil...im beat. Will post pics tomorrow

  12. going to keep my eyes on this one!
hope to see something good! :smoke:

  13. Thanks Captain!

So I am getting my indoor SUPER mini grow set up so that I can have my seedlings between 3 and 6 inches when they will be moved outdoors to harden.

My grow area is quite small so my main issue will be the stagnant air. Here are some quick pics, still gotta set everything up, will these 23w 5500k CFL's be sufficient for the first stages of growth???

    [IMG][IMG]

  14. Those should work fine but se at the top of the package there not actualy 100 watt lights it's just equivilent to it, I tried looking for the CFL guide but couln't seem to find it. A few more lights probly wouldnt hurt seeing as what I remember you wanted 100 watts to each plant?

  15. cool. thats my setup for veg too. i use a small fan like the one pictured and crack the cab open for airflow.

Yeah I know, they are 5x 23 watts each, which is equivalent to 500w of elecricity (related to wattage for a 120v outlet, as to not blow my fuse) As for the hundred watts to each plant. I have heard that one light per plant is sufficient for the seedling/early veg stages before they go outside. They will not get very big like I said 4-6 inches.

Awesome setup! I wish I had that much room to grow indoors! How did mount your electrical strip on your wall? I am having some issues getting mine to hang horizontally, I was thinking maybe like 3m double sided sticky tape? Oh and how did you wire that fan? Did it come with a plug into the outlet? I'm trying to get me one of those and then just crack my false wall a bit as well.

i put 2 little screws in the backing and mounted the light with the holes on the back of the strip. if it was a taller cab, id use a horizontal reflector. but because its fairly short and the ceiling is lined w reflective film, its all good.

the fan is rigged from old pc parts and a charger or some cord. the voltage or something worked. im not good with electricity theory, so it took a few trys and a few burned up fans to get it right.

its a great setup i created from ideas inspired by gc. it resides in a closet now, works just as well, and has vegged the last few rounds of 2-3 plants.

check this photo i found...i took this thru a handheld microscope at a trich from a green crack plant. nice and stoney.

That's dope, my friend just picked up Space Queen from the dispensary, it is actually the same thing as Green Crack but they had to change the name so people didn't think it was actually crack. :smoke: haha
Smokin' outa' the buddies Illadelph, all club trees, gotta love the chron. Stoned.

Here's my beggining set up (still needs a fan and 1..maybe two? more lights)

  19. Nice looking setup to start them out! you could even raise your plants with books or something to get closer to the CFL's I kept mine like 3-4 inches from the lights to keep them from stretching and they started off very nice like that, just my opinion

For fans, I would just get 2 computer fans, one for fresh air and one to pushout the air there really cheap

  20. Thanks Cordor, I know to raise them closer to the lights but I need to find some plastic trays to put under them to catch the runoff. I'll go try to get a couple fans, but I think I might do a little bag seed tester batch just to see what the temps get like with 24/0 lighting and no fans.

I broke another god damn CFL today! So now I have to go and buy two more...redonkulous....
