Hey guys,
I have decided after a long hiatus to begin another grow journal. This will be my second grow journal from seed to harvest, my first being a few years ago. I have since been upgrading my system through countless hours of research mixed with trial and error. I have chosen this particular run to document thoroughly because a LOT has changed since I've posted last.

Changes include:
Got my MMJ card (I am legal in my state to grow and possess)
change of residence (empty basement at my disposal)
Equipment upgrades
Strain additions/subtractions

I'm not good with introductions so I will begin the journal...

Setup:
Lights:
Vegetative: 8x 40watt fluorescent shop-lights and 1x 80watt spiral flourescent
Flowering: 2x 400watt HPS and 2x 600watt digital HPS (2000watt total)
Temp Control: 2x humid/thermometers, 6" 60CFM intake (from outside), 6" Vortex 256CFM exhaust fan (to outside), 12" occulting fan
Cloning: 2x Daisy 8site cloner-buckets
Setup: Homemade aeroponic sprinkler buckets, hydroton medium
Nutrients: General Hydroponics - FloraGrow- FloraMicro- FloraBloom- Kool Bloom- Botanicare's Liquid Karma

Here is a link to the setup that I built and am currently running...

So the grow-show belongs to my roommate and I. I have been growing for about 3 years now and my roommate is a farmer in training. We ordered our seeds online from Attitude Seed Bank and received them in the mail along with a SWEET T-shirt lol. The plan is to germinate these seeds into peat pellets until the roots are adequate length to transplant them into their aeroponic buckets where they will remain for the rest of their short lives.

The seed lineup includes (all feminized):
Mine: Reserva Privada's Headband, Dutch Passions Original Blueberry
My Roommate: Barney's LSD, Barney's L.A. Confidential
Community (free seeds): White Widow, Grapefruit, Bubblegummer, and C99

We currently have the girls soaking in their peat pellets and properly labeled.

So, pop some kettle-corn and twist a blunt... and leave as many comment/concerns as possible :-)

p.s. We are both legal to grow our alloted amount of plants per patient, we have our medical recommendations complete with doctor's signature, address, phone, and fax number posted visibly on the door...

Nice set up man. Best of luck. How long are you going to veg for? Are you going to set this up to run perpetually?

fairbanks:
My plan is to keep a schedule as close to this as possible...
Clone -- 14 days
Veg -- 14-21 days
Flower -- 60-70 days
Dry -- 5 days
Cure -- til she gets schmoked!

I veg for either 2-3 weeks depending on the strain mostly. It's a judgement call after the 2wk mark...

Perpetually? Yes, the pumps will be on 24/7 circulating the water through the air via a sprinkler head which creates enough oxygen in the water as well as supply nutrients to the base of the roots.

Oh i forgot to ask.. do you ever have any heat issues with running 2k worth of lights.. I wanted to either get another 600 or 1000 watt light, but don't know if i'll be able to keep my temps donw.

Since moving into a larger house and moving my girls to the basement rather than a second story apartment I have been able to keep WAAY better control of temperature. Another factor that directly effects my girls is the fact that its like 24 degrees outside and my intake is spilling that cold air into the bottom of the room at 60CFM...

What I would say makes the biggest difference in my controllable temperatures is that I am using two 400W lights and two 600W light equalling 2000W total instead of two 1000W lights which put out a great amount of heat. So basically, I am taking my 2000W of light spreading it out over a larger area which greatly reduces heat discharge :-)

Hope that helps

p.s. The seeds should begin shooting through the soil in the next 2 days, I'll post pictures when that happens...

Hey guys!
I thought I'd add an update today because we got some action from our feminized seeds :-)

We've had the girl soaking pet pellets in my veg. tent under some soft fluorescents. This morning I was pleased to awake to these:

The first two images: The girls doin' their thang :-)
The last two images: some shot of my veg. tent that they live in...

Another update for yall. I was hoping I'd have a few more responses or viewers by meow but I know there's not a whole lot going on yet. Here are a few update photos of the girls.

Today I put the sprouted girls into their vegetative drip buckets. My only concern is that the constant stream of water is going to soak the pellets too much and drown the girls before they get long enough roots. Does anyone else see this happening or do you think they will take well to the drip system/suspended roots?

The first image is a photo of the girls in their new hydroponic DWC drip system. They look happy although I JUST moved them in today. Am I going too fast?

The second image is the rest of the seeds that haven't sprouted yet. I've heard that these pellets have a darn near 100% germination ratio. I am not seeing that ratio at all lol :o I soaked the pellets with de-chlorinated water and kept em around 67-69 degrees. I dunno what there issue is, does anyone else?

The this image is just them together with the fresh clones we just cut donated from another local grower. (Organge Old Man, Raspberry Cough, and Skunk #1)

The last image is of my Purple Power that NEVER turned purple (so I call her Green Power lol) and seemed to NEVER stop growing. In the photo is just 2 females, if stretched from their LST would easily reach 8+ ft... She is still covered in white whispy hairs but is on flower week 12 (today). The bottom half is plumping and turning color finally but the top looks as if she's at LEAST 2-3 weeks from being done, any input on this mutant?

Thanks guys, feel free to comment :-)

That's too bad about your purple power. I've seen a picture of one it's buds that was completely purple, with no green at all. Your greening may have been due to high temps as purple strains need cool air to turn purple (so I've heard). If you ever grow another purple strain, I'd recomend getting an aquarium chiller (around $100-$200) and filter you water through that before it waters your plants. Or maybe pop in an AC unit as I'm sure you 400w HID lamps get pretty hot.

Alright,
After weeks of struggling to get these seeds to veg due to severe spider mite issues as well as losing a few other plants in various stages of growth, we decided that we needed to revamp the entire grow room. So, to make a long story short we added a wall and a door down the middle of the room to create a veg room and a flower room. We then covered the ENTIRE room in fire resistant drywall and airsealed the enire thing. Our water now comes from the faucet in the other room, through a dual water filter, through the drywall into the grow room, and into a 90gal reservoir tank that we have attached a float valve and a drain nozzle to fill gallon watering jugs near the plants where we need em.

Since creating this double room that is air sealed (minus the intake and exhaust in the flower room) we went out and gathered hundreds of wild ladybugs in jars. We brought the bugs back and sprinkled them throughout the plants to make sure the spider mites stay away. The ladybugs took to the plants nicely and often sit directly on the fan leafs like the guard dog in the Sandlot. Many of the ladybugs in the flowering room flew into the HID bulbs and immediately killed themselves. We just simply replace them when this happens... We also spray the veg plants and clones regularly (clones more so) with a mixture of Neem Oil and Water.(pictures of the procedure posted)

We also installed "light hangers" which are actually metal rails that are bolted to the studs in the ceiling. We found clips that fit them well as well as the chains that the fluorescent lights hang from. These have only been implemented in the veg room thus far as an experiment, they are working GREAT and will be installed into the flower room shortly. (pictures posted)

Now on to the seedlings which are the original subject of the thread... We were able to save 5 seedlings and they are flourishing greatly! Some of the strains got mixed up in the tedious remodel but I know for a fact that one is Headband, one is LDS, and one is Cinderella 99. They are doing WONDERFULLY in the new environment and are growing rapidly! In the next week I hope to clone them and send them to the flowering room. The colors are bright, the leaves are perky, and the bugs are gone! (except the Ladybugs :D) (pictures posted)

I also included a photo of the flowering room currently. In there we have Skunk #1, Original Blueberry, and Sour Diesel... all of them are currently in their 3rd week of flower.

p.s. I will do another journal on the entire remodel/aire sealing process when I get more time. I took a lot more photos of the process and have a lot more useful details if anyone is looking to air seal their room, for either bugs issues, temp issues, CO2 issues, privacy issues etc...
