Hi, Creator of the "Who here listens to dubstep?" Thread here... just wanted to

  1. say to everyone that dubstep had a good run. We had some good times, we enjoyed its wobbles, and loved the freshness of each newly released track.

But something terrible has happened. Corporate America has officially hijacked our genre. You may be asking yourself, but Synergy, what ever are you talking about?

    I am talking about this:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K3g0DKYFWs]YouTube - Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me (New Single)[/ame]
    Starts at 2:16

Congrats corporate America, you have exploited yet another movement and bastardized it for personal gain.

  2. what the flying fuck fuck fuck

  3. Fuck you corporate America. And so the commercialization begins....

    :(

  4. Begins? This shit has been commercialized for years. All that filth you listen to is the commercialization and bastardization of the music.

EXCISION is playing in the Best Buy Theater in TIMES SQUARE for a 16+ crowd. THATS commercialization if I ever heard of it.

  5. Yeah you're right, it has been getting marketed to the masses a lot over the past few years, but never have I seen such a blatant attempt of a washed-up artist and her corporate label to try and cash in on a genre they are completely unfamiliar with.

The track sounds disjointed and awkward, and it sickens me internally that a "popstep" or "britneystep" subgenre is evidently emerging from it. I think the main concern is not that Britney Spears hijacked a genre to exploit, but that this clearly is only the beginning of such colossal bastardization by popp-y record labels to reign in sales while effectively killing a truly unique style of electronic music.

  6. Best thing we can do is try to pay it no mind, eh? Definitely don't give that video any more plays. Most little pop fans might not like it either... Maybe. Blah

  7. What do you expect? I'm a huge dubstep fan, and even I accepted the fact it would be 'mainstream' and ran by corporate America in only a matter of years. It's bound to happen to anything with that much popularity. Just stick with the artists who are keepin it real, and they will stick with you keepin it real.

    It was bound to happen.

  8. ehh, the genre deserved it for having the genre of "dub" in its name

Finally a dubstep song I enjoy!

    That... was... filthy!

  10. God damn her!

  11. thissssssssss
who cares if a genre becomes mainstream it doesnt mean there will be no more good music being produced it jsut means a whole lot more to choose from

  12. What...The...FUCK!!!!!

someone told me this today but i thought he was joking.

    im pissed...

  13. Or a lot more shit music to wade through. I think dubstep's uniqueness as a sound is what draws a lot of people to it to begin with.

  14. to be fair the majority of dubstep being made now is shit anyway and has been for a while

  15. meh some of the filthiest dubstep is hard to listen to.

im EXCITED to see the new ways wubs and wobbles will be used.

its not a horrible song, but soon music is going to be the lowest frequency to hear and just blow windows out and make us crap our pants.

So i say, bring on the dub.

    my ears need new sounds

  16. This is a fair way to look at the situation; I agree.
It's a bit annoying when music gets commercialized, but whatever. It might make it more accesible for other to get into.

  17. Speaking on behalf of my ends, dubstep has been commercial as fuck for a year, year and a half now...

  18. suprised? don't be........ this kind of shit has been going on in the music industry for YEARS. in the 80s they tried to tone down punk rock by giving it a poppier sound and making it more commercial friendly then replacing the name and started calling it New Wave. in the late 90s they did the same thing with rap and hip hop. it'll pass, something new will come along and people will have moved on and forgotten about it except for those of us who are still keepin it real

  19. Holy shit, the world really is coming to an end...

  20. are u guys serious? ive known for at least a few months if not more that rusko has produced her new album, lame as fuck but whatever...i dont think rusko is gonna be invited to many legit festies this summer lol
