I started this grow in the middle of November with 2 pots.

In one pot I've got some unknown strain. Long story but, I got it and won't run it again.:) LST for this one.

In the other pot, with the high tech string screen, is my Purple Head Knocker. Yeah I'm running this again, and again, and again, and again :D

Both are clips which were grown in 16 oz party cups. They both showed up with fungus gnats and way overwatered with roots all in a circle at the bottom of the cups. The unknown strain's mother is just about a year old. The PHK mother is approaching her 4th birthday.

So, in this thread, I can compress the time until I catch up.

    Setup is nothing special:

    2' x 4' x 5' $100 grow tent.
    250w Digital Ballast
3 different digital bulbs (I like to call them lamps).
    •6,000K for veg
    •3,000K for bud
•10,000K for my death ray - LOL
    C.A.P. extreme greenhouse controller
co2 regulator and meters - Milwaukee Instruments
Fan - Vortec $40 at ACE
2 pretty large size pots. Like 23" in diameter.
For soil, Imma using 2 kinds. New and Old. The PHK is in some fresh Fox Farms Ocean Forest (I'll do my FFOF quality rant later). Ms Unknown is in some soil that I've already done a grow in. There is an element of experimenting here also :)

For Nutes I am only using bacteria, fungi and 2 different types of guano. We'll get into specifics later in the thread.

My water is regular ole tap water run thru a Zero Water filter (I really like these things.)

This is what it looked like Mid-November. The PHK is under the screen, about 4" tall. The screen is 10" above the soil. Ms. uknown is a spindly bitch maybe 10 ~ 12" tall.

  2. Hiya Your Grandfathe,

Welcome to the boards and good luck on your grow. Sounds like you've got things dialed in. I'm going to move your thread to the Organic Grow Journals section so it doesn't get buried.

You'll get a lot more traction and the growers there will tag along for the ride. I'm subscribing so I can keep up with your progress. I;ll leave a re-direct so folks can follow you over there.

    Happy New Year,

    chunk

  3. So, this porn is like 10 days later.

At this point in time, I'm dealing with the fungus gnats - Got myself some mosquito bits which are not only good for control of those pesky things but also do a real good job on exterminating those phucue-ing fungus gnats. Bacillus thuringiensis sub-species israelensis. Say that 3 times :) The gnats will be gone shortly.

I just hate it when you open the tent and are greeted by a host of flying shit. grrrr :devious:

Since it has been 10 days, I'm pretty sure the spores of the Super-VAM part a and Super-Vam part b have germinated, and further there will be some hyphal growth and that the roots have been recognized and lastly that we have appressorium (that is where the fungi has grown to the point where it's tip is flattened and it's penetrating the root).

Right before the pic's were taken each pot got a measured tablespoon of 10-2-1 guano, which I scratched in the top of the soil. When the guano meets the hyphae we should have a nice love connection.

Also, I gently added some Nitrogen Fixing bacteria, spread it on top and then took a little of the soil and put it on top of the bacteria. This nitrogen fixing bacteria should provide about 50% of my total N requirement for the entire grow. Basically it captures the Nitrogen from the atmosphere and then "fixes" it into the soil to make it readily available to the roots when the roots are calling for N. Put 1/2 of a measured teaspoon of it down. *for those of you who are taking notes* :)

What else? Well the PHK has stuck it's head up thru the top of the screen and I'm doing a lot of bondage on the unknown lady.

Giving about 9 oz of water every few days. Using a turkey baster for a controlled application of the water.

  4. Hey grandfathe, just bouncing around tonight and thought I'd stop and say high!

Can't wait to see the nitrification process in action man! Good vibes at ya and happy growing!

  5. Thanks for swinging by P38

Yeah, me too, I've never gown just using bacteria / fungi and a small bit of guano before.

I really like the idea of capturing the Nitrogen from the atmosphere and fixing it into the soil. Free high quality nutes :)

Outside of the buds, I'm really looking forward to doing the autopsy on the plant roots when the grow is over.

  6. LOL, I just love this being able to accelerate time.

These pictures are 10 days later again. The grow is now 5 days short of being one month.

The fungus gnats are long gone.... eaten by the predator bugs, which took about 6 days or so before I didn't see anything moving in the tent. :hello:

Both plants are really showing some great growth, stems look good and the overall appearance of the plants appears to be healthy.

At this point in time, they have only had one application of guano. I'm 100% sure the bacteria has germinated and is doing it's thing. There is no indication of any kind of nute deficiency, I'm not playing patty cakes with adjusting the ph of water. Just running it thru the Zero water filter and then applying it. Still giving each plant about 9oz of water every couple of days.

You can see in the one picture how I am weaving the stalk thru the screen so the bud sites are where I want them to be.

    Enjoy the porn

  7. Looking good so far! The screen fills in faster then you might think.

  8. I like your grow! Porn purveyor!

  9. Okay, in real time, these pictures are from like December 18 or seven days later than the porn posted right above this porn.

At this point in time, the grow is one month and 3 days old.

The screen is filling out real nice, the other plant I just keep tying down in whatever why I can move the branches. It sure is a long spindly biatch for sure. I've got a little indication of Nitrogen deficiency (which doesn't show in the picture).

Only thing I'm providing is Zero ppm water. Pretty much letting the bacteria and the fungi do their thing. I scratched a tablespoon of Nitrogen guano into the top of the soil on the plant which is not under the screen. I'm pretty sure this will (at least I hope) put an end to the little N problem that I'm seeing.

Temps are running right around 78 with light on and low 70's with light off. Humidity is 60% - I'm gonna have to deal with this or imma have some problems down the road. co2 is running right around 1,500ppm. Got plenty of air movement.

BTW, if anyone want to talk about UV and it's effect on growing I'd love to engage.

This is kind like watching grass grow. Pretty boring stuff for sure.

  10. So what you up to there 'ol fellar Grandfathe? You giving us a real slow time-lapsed grow LOL? Pics from 12/18... am I reading that right :)

  11. whats the ZERO FILTER? plants are lookin great.

  12. Well actually I started the grow on Nov 15 and rather than just jump in here.

I decided to kinda make like a VCR (too funny, some of you won't know what that is in this age of DVR's) and time shift the grow.

My plan is to serve up some porn every couple of days until I'm caught up with what is happening in real time and this grow journal.

In real life the grow has buds and all kinds of good shit, but ya'll gotta wait until I post some more porn before we get to the full frontal nude shots of the ladies. :p

  13. Zero Water filters are kinda like a Britta water filter that really, really works.

They cost like $35 (amazon.com) and come with a PPM meter so you can check the TDS of the water after it comes out of the filter.

In my experience, this is dope. It works really well and thru the magic of science it moves the ph to a very acceptable range.

  14. I had a feeling you were up to something!!!! :D And I'm sure that the ending of the grow-journey slide show is a real feel good eh? LOL

  15. I dunno cause I'm still growing it. LOL

You'll have to stay tuned.

  16. I'm far far from an informed person on UV, plant growth, and bulb type, but I believe my Ceramic Metal Halide provides a fair amount. Some people claim they get 'sunburned' from being under them too long, but I seem to be ok.

    I'd like to learn/read more.

  17. Okay, I'll throw it down and start 'er up again. This conversation started some years ago on another forum - which has since shut down.

Basically my premise was: The weed (same strain) I grew outside was superior in buzz to what I was growing indoors. At that time, I was living above 7,600' in the mountains and the only thing that was different was that outside the plants were exposed to a real high level of uv. We would get in a few minutes what it took an hour at sea-level.

Since then, I have know people who tried an entire grow with just uv lights to people who just put a lizard lamp into the grow room. At the while we were never able to find any real scientific evidence that our "hunch" *uv light makes weed stronger* was true or were we just taking too many rips from the bong.

So, as fate would have it... the other day, one of my friends from that old forum sends me an email with the following pdf file attached.

  18. Nice article, That's a keeper for sure! Haven't read it all but I will!

    Love it!

  19. I'll read that after work!

  20. Well I took some clips from the PHK right when I put her into bud.

Took a few days (more like 14) to get some roots showing.

So today, I decided to put them into cut down party cups, Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil and 1/4 teaspoon of Super VAM (part A & part B). I used my mister to moisten up the soil before I put the VAM into the cup and then I gave each of them a few spritzes after I placed the soil around the peat pellets.

This is real time and not on a delay :)
