Got a iPad for Christmas, don't understand their payment plan for 3G. 250mb for $15 or 5g for $35 what does this mean? How much time does this give me a month?

It's not time based. It's based on how much bandwidth you use. For $15/month you can download 250 megabytes before you get hit with extra charges or for $35/month you can download 5 gigabytes (5,000 megabytes)

you could go with the 250mb but that is not going to be enough. If they had this 3 months ago I would say spend 30 dollars a month and get the unlimited plan. but they offer that anymore.

He's in Canada. The plans are all quite different there from the US.

I have free wifi at home and can download all my shit therebut it would be nice to be able to use my apps when I'm out and YouTube. So do you think 250mb would be enough?

If you do a lot of video you can eat that up pretty quickly. Depends on how much you think you'll be using it on the go.

You could start with the cheaper plan and see how it goes for a month. If you need to upgrade the next month it won't be an issue.

It picks up a wifi signal too, so if you plan on mostly using it in places where you can get wifi you won't need a large plan.

Using 'gayest' to describe a service plan is the gayest thing I've ever heard. That is how all mobile broadband is billed, by bandwidth used not by time.

So the fact everyone is doing it makes it a good thing?

How smart you are... I have an iPad and I don't pay for some 'stupid' (do you feel better about yourself now?) mobile service charge. The fact is a majority of consumers are not willing to pay that price except for egotistical trend chasing ____s.

Hot spots are everywhere.

I never said it was a smart buy, so you can can the attitude. I just stated facts. I never said it was a good thing; it just is what it is. You're being rather immature about it.

I have an Android tablet without 3G (Archos 101) so I'm in the same boat as you are. If I really need to I can tether it to my phone, but as you say hotspots are everywhere.

I'm not quite sure why you're so bent out of shape about it. Mobile broadband has always been priced that way, and for someone who has to travel around to places that do not have hotspots it's not a bad deal. You get what you pay for.

As for trend chasing...you have an iPad. Enough said. Grow up and stop being so belligerent.
