Can't find my Marijuana Botany book [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Botany-Propagation-Breeding-Distintive/dp/091417178X]Amazon.com: Marijuana Botany: Propagation and Breeding of Distintive Cannabis (9780914171782): Robert Connell Clarke: Books[/ame] But if memory serves me correct there are several outcomes for marijuana hermies depending on the ploidy level. XX and XY: Pretty obvious, its male or female, no hermies XXX: Female sterile XXY: Hermie with sterile pollen. (depending on gene expression could be mostly female or mostly male) XYY: Male sterile XXXX: Female XXXY: Hermie with fertile pollen, when stressed (mostly female flowers). XXYY: Hermie with fertile pollen, no stress needed (mostly male flowers). XYYY: Male
reference to my post on hermie seterility: Breeding Field Crops by John Poehlman and David Sleper (4th ed, pg 87): Polyploids with an uneven number of genomes, such as triploids or pentaploids, are generally infertile and can be used to genetically deseed certain plant cultivars. The uneven number of genomes prevents complete bivalent pairing and makes the formation of euploid gametes unlikely which prevents production of seeds. Triploid watermelons and bananas are plants that do not produce seeds because of uneven ploidy levels.
