    OK,

I am moving this from the indoor growing section to the journal section where it belongs. Here is the deal, my son and I decided after doing a bagseed grow, had one plant, we didn't take care of very well because we didn't know what we were doing, turned out to be male, or we stressed it enough to become male. We started reading more and more in the forums here, and decided to do it the right way. We have started a grow off. Our intent is to grow 4 females, we have now 5 out of the ground, and a few more we are waiting on. We will pick the strongest looking plants, narrow it down to 4, and grow them out. I purchased California Skunk seeds, they are decent and relatively cheap. I also got 20 free seeds of unknown mixed Indica/Sativas. So far we have 100% germ rate on the skunk and most of the others so far are germing as well. We are using 8 26 watt, 6500K CFL's and will be getting more as the plants get larger. We are using Natures Own Organic soil with no nutes to start, bottled RO water to germ and water. Please feel free to offer advice as we go along but know that this is a competition, I plan on kicking jr's ass! :hello: Wish us luck and root for the old man! (if 44 is old to you!)

  2. Subbed. I didnt see a fan though. you should add one for some ventilation and get some air movement goin. happy growin!

  3. There is a 10" oscillating fan in there, the airflow is actually very good and no heat really from the bulbs, I expect to see some increases as I add lights and I am prepared. Somehow didn't make it in the picture. I appreciate the heads up! Keep an eye on me so I don't screw this up please! :smoke:

  4. Figures... I do all the work and he gets all the fans..... You know this aint NASCAR, right?

  5. Well I read your other thread in Indoor Growing and by the sounds of it, youve done your research not him hah... and btw if its a competition why are you taking care of his plants? lol good luck jr

  6. Just getting him started. Once we have all going it will be up to him to feed, LST, top, etc.... We shall see how it goes. The competition side of it is secondary, we want a good grow. Thanks bud!

  7. Just did the PH test and we are perfect. Working on the room design today. I will be traveling from Wednesday morning to Friday evening so I should see some nice changes by the time I return.

  8. If it helps, I have done my own research as well. So I think this will be a pretty square comp. All in all we are just trying to have a good grow, healthy plants, and big buds.

  9. That's what's important, a good grow. You guys will both be smoking when it's cured no matter who wins.

  10. Of course that is the desired outcome... the more growers the merrier..
Good luck to both of you guys, I will check back on this journal. Check mine out if you could in my sig and let me know what you guys think =D

  11. Thanks guys.. New pics will be up soon, we changed the setup and added more lights.

  12. Amen to that. I am clicking over to yours as soon as I send this Boston.

  13. Much appreciated bro, sorry about the large pics... Ive learned my lesson lmao...

  14. No big deal man. Nice healthy girl you have there. Hard to believe that came from bagseed. Keep it up bud and keep posting, I am watching.

  15. In the end you both win!:smoking:

  16. Dude, I love your quote...

  17. OK, today is day 5 for the first spout, day 3 or 4 for the rest. I notice that all of them are drying out very quickly. I don't want root rot, but I also don't want the plants to suffer from dehydration. I am walking a thin line. What I don't understand is there is really not much heat coming from the bulbs, I am thinking the fan may be drying the soil up as much as anything else. I pushed my finger pretty far down into the soil and it's pretty dry. I guess my question is should I just trust the instinct and go ahead and water or wait until I see signs on the plants? My oldest plant looks a little shrivelled but not really bad, probably wouldn't notice that from a pic. I hopefully will post pics laer today but wanted some opinion on watering before it's too late. Any thoughts appreciated.

  18. Ive read once when it comes to watering be a bit lazy... but I also read a good rule of thumb is doing what you did, dig your finger and and check for moisture... maybe you could water a bit, but with under and overwatering your plants should begin to droop... if they arent droopy Id say your still a bit in the clear... post pics bro. good luck

  19. buy a moisture meter.
