Using herb to prevent stuttering. Effective?

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by purplemudkip, Nov 8, 2010.

  1. I have a stutter and I got off a six week t break recently. Yesterday my mom commented that my stuttering has "gotten a little worse in the past month". Could it be possible that weed helps alleviate stuttering?

  2. works for me, I sometimes stutter/mumble lol smoking pot makes the words come out more smoothly just my 2..

  3. i'm not sure but i definetly wouldn't doubt it.there's thousands of medical conditions that marijuana can help with.:smoke:

  4. I've never stuttered while using the herb, but I occasionally stutter while I'm not high. But then again, I'm hardly ever high.

  5. helps me

when im ona t break, i stutter like crazy too. Stuttered all my life

  6. there was a man in the movie "The Union" that has to live with REALLY BAD seizures and studerring too (i dont know the medical term) you should have seen his before and after a toke. It helped him severely reduce his seizure/studder...... it works

  7. good point, but a question to bring up is wether the stutter is primarily because of his MS (i think that was what it was) or because of other factors.

personally, i do stutter as well when in stressful situations (side effect of years of untreated anxiety issues which i'm FINALLY getting some help for) and when i'm even just ever so slightly high/stoned/medicated, it helps relax me and all that stuff which helps control the stutter. only downside is that i have to be careful not to get too high or else i'm a space cadet... though that's a totally different issue entirely ;)

  8. I've read that it can help, and I think it does a little. At least for me, I stutter usually when I'm excited and am trying to rush everything out, and when I smoke I'm more chilled out and can get through each word at a good steady pace.

No thanks to 6 years of speech therapy in school:mad:

  9. My stuttering is because of muscle spasms, so marijuana helps. But if you stutter due to anxiety... well, I guess it all depends on if you're a paranoid smoker or not.

  10. Well, I've had a stuttering problem since I was a little kid but I don't really think weed effects it for me. Sometimes it makes me stutter more lmao.

  11. Ask your doc

  12. well it can depend .
if your stuttering is caused by anxiety , some strains just cause your anxiety to become worse ..

If its for another reason tho try alcohol as it slurs your words instead of stuttering them

  13. I get paranoid when I smoke, but then I talk myself out of being paranoid (ie "I'm just being paranoid")

My stuttering isn't caused by anxiety, but stuttering definitely causes anxiety and then just makes it worse. When I'm high my anxiety is like nonexistent.

  14. i only ever studder WHILE smoking pot, but thats most likely because i Smoke until im slow in the head lol

  15. maybe its like a different stutter.
i think what you're getting at is something like

"weed is... is... is good lol" as opposed to "w-w-w-w-w-weed is g-g-good"

but im probably wrong. i think it helps me because normally i talk really fast and run words together

  17. wow thats amazing how simple it is. technology thats been around forever and hes cured instantly

  18. @Adam yeah I've seen that clip before (the MJ one and this one). It's remarkable. My speech therapist in high school had me try a device similar to that one and it works like a charm. When she put it on herself, it made her (a non-stutterer) stutter pretty badly

  19. Depends on the person really. I've stuttered since I started talking. I think it used to help when I first started smoking, but I find it is less effective if I use it constantly. Which I do.
We still don't really know what causes stuttering.

Being high has never really had an effect on it for me  :confused_2:

Booze on the other hand, booze makes it drastically worse. Being tired makes it a little worse too.

Just my experience. I haven't seen any research on it, but have seen a handful of people online saying that it helped their stutter.
