New outdoor - August start...

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by NewSalvia, Aug 14, 2005.

  1. I've started a few bag seeds outside in late July/early august. I've never grown outside and i would like to know what to expect as far as yield is concerned. I'm growing in Northern Georgia. The plants are 3 weeks old and only 3 inches tall. Thats why im a little concerned.

  2. Your plants might not even make it to a foot, and they'll be scraggley, and low yielding probably... It's just too late to start. Many plants are already pre-flowering by now.

EDIT: Sorry for the grim news... You can always try next year, but start them earlier... Say late May into early June (depending on when your last frost is).

  3. Despite the bleak outlook, I will continue to ensure care of the plants. I managed to snap a few pics. If someone could give an estimate on yield per plant by looking at these pics, that would be great.

  4. so the reason you aren't gonna get anything and your stuff is so slow is because you started to late. You need to start around march. sorry the light schedule is setup outdoor for flowering right now. you missed the heavy vegging.

  5. Ok, did you read my last post? I understand the lighting schedule. That's not what i'm asking. I did plant in May but those plants were found by a family member and burned. This was the only opportunity i had to plant again.

What I dont know is...how much the plants will yield DUE to the late start. They get a lot of light per day, and they get watered regularly. Is there a chart that tells you the light/dark schedule of a particular area for each day of the year? Maybe in a farmer's almanac?
Again, if anyone could estimate the yield per plant accounting for the late start, that would be great.

  6. Well... Lets see what we have here...

Flowering officially begins on September 22 (the light/day will be 12/12, then the nights will be getting longer from then on)... For now you're above 12 hours of light a day, BUT the days are getting shorter. Your plants are starting to sense this, so they're gonna wanna start preflowering...

Say they get to a foot before the middle of September... They might make it to 2' by harvest, and you might get an ounce or two a plant if it's a good strain and you take super care of them.

This is just a guess though. I don't know for sure what your plants will be like. You might get some fat buds, or some really whispy airy ones... But either way, it's free buds, right?

  7. ty for the info cottons. They look even better now. I'll update again!

  8. Cool... Good luck. I hope you get some nice buds.

  9. It's been a while since the last update, but here it is...I had to stake a few of them because the remnants of hurricane Katrina bent em over. All bagseed from good bags...

  10. Despite going through a hurricane, being bent, and growing at the end of the season. They look pretty good, hope you get at least an Ounce or two from that. :D Good luck

  11. Sigh, well the two biggest ones are definitely males. they got balls showing up all over...
The next biggest one is starting to show something, i'm willing to bet it's a male as well. The biggest ones are 10-13 inches tall.

Just goes to show that you can start a grow late as hell and still produce!

    Pix coming soon.

  12. Its so Ironic how males have these " Balls" hehe :p

  13. The one tall plant is in fact a male. He'll get pulled the next visit. None of the other plants are showing sex at all. Nor are they growing very quickly. They are all bagseed. Here's a few pics:

  14. Update!

Well, We're down to 2 plants. 1 is Definitely female, the other is still up for grabs.

  15. Sigh, yet another is male... 4 out of 5 seeds planted were male. Seems a little off from the 50/50 ratio... DAMNIT! Hope this one female produces! Pix soon!

  16. Here she is!

  17. depending on where you live... ur yield is gonna be like 0... or maybe a few grams

first frost is coming soon and your plants have been flowering by the looks of it, for about 2 weeks.

  18. Hey if you get a gram it's a blunt to smoke a chill on while you plan next year.

  19. ya, but i'm growing in Northern Georgia. The Southern part of the USA. I will be fine. She'll finish. First frost is due in about a month here.

  20. Wet weight approx: 40-45 grams

Had to harvest early. I got to the site and someone had cut a branch off of the bottom node, and left it laying at the base of the plant. The severed branch was still green and healthy looking, which lead me to believe that it was done THIS morning. I pulled it and ran!
