  2. That song was so badass live. I could actually feel the heat from the pyrotechnics on my face.

  3. Not strictly Rush related...but it is nice to see Neil playing some jazz for a change.

  4. Great post!

I love seeing/hearing Neil's Burning For Buddy stuff.

  5. Gumbo, your comment about Power Windows earlier made me want to listen to that album again...so I am. I'm on "Marathon" right now, and thought I'd drop off this video of that song from the Time Machine tour....

Incidentally, you should check out that guy's YouTube channel (ACELLOFAWARENESS is his name). He's got a bunch of videos from the Time Machine tour, most of them in HD and most of them taken from the first or second row. :hello:

  6. I've always loved this song. I also love that I won't ever go bald haha. no one on either side of my family is or was bald. Glad to have good genes. But seriously this song is amazing especially the solo and the bass line.

Heres another great track. Its from the Hemispheres album which everyone seems to forget. Most people just go from 2112 to Permanent Waves. A farewell to Kings and Hemispheres are two of my favorite albums.

  7. So wierd that you bring up that song. Caress of Steel would have been a perfect album without it.

  8. yeah, rush is the shit 2112 is a great album

  9. Yeah, it is! :hello:

Are you familiar with the song "A Passage to Bangkok"?

  10. Yesterday I totally used Rush lyrics in my english essay. I felt pretty badass.

  11. Aw, dude, don't even get me started on using Rush lyrics in school projects.

For my 10th grade English class, we had to make our interpretation of a soundtrack for one of the novels we had read. I chose Ayn Rand's Anthem, and the soundtrack consisted entirely of Rush songs. :D For a 12th grade class on nonfiction, we had to do a "senior project" - write a paper and give an oral presentation. My paper was titled "The Development of Neil Peart's Lyric-Writing Style, 1975 – 2007," and the presentation was called "Literary Devices in the Lyrics of Neil Peart."

Suffice it to say, I work Rush into school projects wherever I feasibly can. Haven't managed to do it in a college class yet, though...although for my Introduction to Computer Science class last year we had to make a website, and on the site I linked to this video. :hello:

  12. yeah i am song owns lol

  13. I wish I had an assignment that awesome in high school.

My quoted lyrics were from Roll the Bones and Fountain of Lamneth, I'm still pretty proud, though.

On a related note, the other night I was hanging out in the neighborhood bar, and ran into a HUGE Rush fan. This dude claims to have been to over one hundred Rush shows (he was old enough for that to make sense), and also claimed to continually communicate with Neil through email. Whether the last part is true I'll likely never know, but dude definitely had a fuck load of accurate Rush trivia in his head.

  14. What was the essay about? And which lyrics did you use?

I love randomly meeting fellow Rush fans. You should have asked that guy for Neil's email address...man, I think it would be awesome to write to him and get a response. :smoke:

  15. It was about a book we read. I mostly wrote about how nothing in life is gauranteed and that you have to expect the unexpected. The lyrics were from Roll the Bones, Anthem, and Best I Can.

You should know that Neil doesn't like meeting people. It would have been cool to try, though.

  16. He doesn't like meeting rabid fans. He feels uncomfortable around people who shower praise on him and say they're his biggest fan, etc. And besides, I'm just talking about an email. :D

  17. True, but who knows with Neil...

I would have loved to get his email, but let's face it, he probably wouldn't have loved me getting his email.

  18. Here's a cool Rush thing I found the other day.

Rush Rider | The Smoking Gun

It's their dressing room, etc. requests from the Presto tour. My favorite is page 5 when they outline which type of liquor they want each day.

  19. My friend showed me that a few weeks ago. Pretty interesting to see what they requested for meals, sodas, and alcohol. :)

  20. Got a few of Neil's books for Christmas, bringing my total up to four. I recommend reading them.
