This has got me all mixed up. Seriously. Burger, sandwich, what makes which, which?

Say, you have a regular hamburger. Beef, and buns right?

Then a regular sandwich, well more like a chicken sandwich. Chicken and buns right?

What happened to the days when a burger was a burger and a sandwich was a sandwich.

Now a days you have the Chicken Teriyaki Burger.

But its not a burger; See, on the rest of the menu, all other chicken things that are chicken with buns, are sandwiches.

Really any restaurant you go had burgers, which are beef, and burgers that have chicken, but are called sandwiches.

And also, the turkey burger. Which is ground turkey made into a patty, which resembles a burger.

Shouldn't a burger be beef? And a Chicken burger be a sandwich?

I dunno, I'm really high right now and this is whats wrapped around my brain at the moment.

And yes, I really did just start this thread.

In my opinion there is no such thing as a turkey burger or vegetable burger, those are out of the question. The thing that makes chicken burgers burgers and normal burgers burgers is the amount of proportionately cooked meat. Size and cooking skills applied to the meat determine its burger essence. The fine line between burger and sandwich is subjective, one may say that a McDonalds cheeseburger is a sandwich and some may call it a burger. It's neither in my opinion but to each his own.

The way I see it;

burger = ground meet. usually beef, sometimes turkey, never chicken, and always cooked

samwich = sliced/cut meet or any kind, cooked or uncooked

idk?

burgers originated from the word hamburger. they are all sandwiches. its just what we call a sandwich when you place a formed patty on the bread.

Mr bob proves a valid point. But that whole turkey burger ideal is a big cover up for dieting people to say they're letting themselves go and having a burger but wait no it's just ground down low fat turkey!

A burger is ANY ground meat patty. Be it cow, buffalo, turkey, veggie, chicken, etc... etc..

And I am a lemon, I have no idea what you just said but it sounds wrong.... Turkey burgers aren't just for people trying to lose weight - some people just don't eat red meat for health or religious reasons.

A burger has to have hamburger beef on a bun. A sandwich has to have any meat that is not a hamburger and it can be on any kind of bread.

You realize you just tried to use the definition to define the word?

Except a burger doesn't have to be just beef.

And all burgers are sandwiches, so long as they're between two slices of bread. A sandwich is merely two slices of bread with some kind of "filling".

And to confuse things even more, shouldn't a hamburger have ham on it instead of beef?
