18.8 mm > 14.5 mm joint size meaning?

  1. Hey guys, I was looking on GC shop for a new bong and saw the mad scientist. On the details for the bong it says the joint size is "Joint Size: 18.8 mm > 14.5 mm."

Just out of curiosity what does that mean? I already have a 18.8 joint size compatible precooler, so will that work? However the mad scientist branded pre-coolers are 14.5 mm joint sizes.

  2. Bump. if a piece is 18.8 mm > 14.5 mm joint which size bowl would you get to replace it?

  3. it can fit both but should use a 14.5 apparently

  4. almost a year old thread....

  5. 18.8 means that the female part is 18.8 and the 14.5 means the male part is 14.5

  6. Ya, should just make a new thread so that people can then yell at you for not searching. I'm so sick of this crap. Seriously, am I the only one who notices that whether you make a new thread or post in an old one, you get insulted? PICK ONE PEOPLE! Which do you want? Search and revive, or make a new thread? I honestly can't see how reviving old threads is bad at all, let alone more important than keeping a forum clean with less threads. /rant

I'm confused about this whole joint/stem/bowl/slide size stuff, and the terminology. As far as I know the joint size only refers to the female part of the bong meets the male part of the stem, correct? There is the female joint of the bong, then the male part of the stem. These are both 18. Then there is the female part of the stem, and the male part of the bowl. These are both 14. Right?

  7. correct.

as for the reviving old threads, it's fine when it's an open ended discussion or something but when someone bumps a 3 year old thread titled 'my mom caught me what do i do' it's just fucking annoying. lol :bongin:

Unless somebody directly asks somebody else a question, expecting an answer, and it's months old, then I don't see a problem. You're scaring people away from using the search too, which is what the actual mods of any forum want you to do: post in old threads.

I think people do it because that's what people (kids?) seem to like to do, flame/police other people. Some of these people who tell others not to revive or tell them to use the search, check their history, and you might see they go into many threads finding people to scold.

I went through a lot of this on the Uncharted 2 forum. We had people obsessed with telling others to use the search and not revive threads, almost like they were hoping the mods praised them for helping or something, it was sad. So that's why I rant.
