Hey everyone,

Grasscity doesn't have very many journals with GrowLedHydro.com LED lights, so I thought maybe you all would be interested. This is my third grow.

Basically I have a small 3' x 4' x 8' closet setup. In the closet is 200watt (actual watts) of CFL for good measure, but the feature is a 300watt 12 spectrum LED unit from GLH. The pictures don't do it justice, it is really bright but sense there is very little green light it doesn't always seem so...

As for seeds, we have Nirvana White Widow which I grew last season and was very happy with even though it was harvested early. And finally, DNA LA Woman which I choose because last season I grew Sour Cream and it was very nice but its yield was low from not topping.

At this point the seeds have been in vegetation for 28 days (4 weeks). We had a bit of a nute problem but that's been resolved. They are in MG Organic soil with Fox Farm nutes, super thrive, and some water conditioning (pH down, CL decrease).

I Fimmed them both a week ago. White Widow responded really well and now has 6 tops! LA Woman has giant leaves and really needs to be topped/fimmed so of course the first time I fimmed her she completely regenerated... And then again the second time I tried. Even though it wasn't successful it slowed her down and made her much more bushy.

In the last few days I have started LST mainly just to pull everything apart and give it more room. but in LA Woman's case, I tied the top down and I'm, finally, starting to see new cola formation.

Not sure what you mean by not many people growing with the brand named LED you have, but there is a social club for LED growers in GC. I have a question about the light hight, it looks really high up from the plants what the measurement and why is it so high? Can you feel the heat coming off the lights or only from the fans it has? How tall are your plants btw? Looking good from here.

Im no expert when it comes to LED but from my understanding your UFO should be alot closer too your girls. like 10 to 12 inches, then use the CFLs to flood the sides of your plants. I think youll increase the growth rate dramatically by doing so. My clone donor grew Nirvana seeds WW his last grow along w/ bubbledust which is what Im flowering presently now for 36 days. I decided not to take the WW clones as they were not even comparable to the BDs. But I can tell from your pics that your WW are the same genetics as his. His journal is still here if you feel like looking it up. Bonglords First Grow. indoor grow journals. Ill be checking in to see how your girls are doing. Here is some +rep for you too:D:D

First off, I should probably provide a link to IrishBoy's grow which is responsible for my $1000 investment IrishBoy's 600watt GLH Grow

My plants are on a 18/6 cycle right now which might explain their slow growth. Irish had his LEDs 26" away, mine are about 30" away. Neither Irish nor myself have noticed any stretching. This thing is really bright and seems to not need to be as close as other LED systems on the market... I was never really impressed with LEDs until I saw this bad boy.

My plants are about 12" tall right now. Because of time restraints, I'll be switching to 12/12 in a week or so.

The System as a whole runs quite a bit hotter than I expected but that seems to be related more to the power supply than the actual LEDs. The room gets pretty hot (95 f) with the door closed. Eventually I'll install some venting but for now I just keep the door cracked with a fan circulating the air.

Yep Im already subed to Irish boys grow. Hes good shit. I still think your light should be closer. But its still your call. Id definately get some fresh air vented into that cloz. ASAP it'll also help your cause tremendously. 95 is WAY too hot.

My solution is to not close the door all the way with a fan to circulate air; which keeps the temps in the 80s... Eventually I'll install a contained venting system but I'm moving soon. Until the light leakage bothers me it really doesn't matter

As for the light height, it looks a lot farther from them than it is because of the angle but I'm going to try just as an experiment... But if that's the case, then I wonder why they aren't stretching at all?

After looking at some other GLH posts around the web (420magazine) I don't think these lights need to be as close as CFLs and other LEDs but I did see a few people in the 12-20" range as well... So I don't think it's a big deal but I would like to see what difference it makes

Keep me posted as I hope you get the kind of results I think you may. Plants look dank at any rate. Like I said my clone donor was growing Nirvana seeds WW and his were short and stalky just like yours(look like the same damn plants) He vegged his under T-5 flourescent and his did no stretching either.

Update at 4 1/2 Weeks.

The growth up until this point has been very good but slow so today I lowered the LED lights to 18" above the tops. I am also going to 24/0 light cycle.

I was really hoping to start flowering next weekend but we'll see how much they veg. What do you all think? Is that going to be too soon?

Yes sir, there is a fan blowing air into the room at foot level and one blowing air out of the room on top the closet shelve. I keep the door cracked about 2-4" depending. I don't need a lamp in my living room any more :smoke:

I don't know about seedlings, but one of my plants (3 week veg) is literally 1 inch away from the LED panel... doesn't hurt the plant.

Update at 5 Weeks on First Day of 12/12

Hey everyone,

Overall the plants are looking really healthy but LA Woman's leave tips are curling down. I'm guessing it is either heat stress or low humidity but can't say for sure. Anyone else know what this could be?

The plants have been under the lower light now for almost a week and seem to be doing great. I wouldn't say that their growing speed has drastically sped up but it has increased some.

I pruned 4 very large fan leaves off of LA Woman which seems to have really helped her develop more tops and bush out. I also removed a few yellowing and dying leaves from each.

Today is the first day of 12/12 light so hopefully they start flowering soon and get huge :hello:

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but for the curling leaves, are you checking the PH of your feed/water regularly and matching it to your medium? It would speed up the growth as well if that's the issue.

I've only been measuring run off lately... I used to measure the PH before I watered but it never changed much; I'm going to do it next time to make sure. But I'm using a pool ph kit and it's only really accurate at telling me if the ph is above 6.8, in the 6.2-6.8 range it can be a guessing game

Hey darkstone your setup looks great. It is important to get your PH correct. Spent the $60 and get a decent PH meter. What kind of nutes are you using? :hello:

Thanks Cheese. I decided to buy a Milwaukee Mw801 ph/ec meter so that I can get to the bottom of this. It was only $140 dollars on eseasongear.

In the mean time I flushed my plants because, as someone pointed out, my ppm were probably way too high.

Update: 6 Weeks 2 Days - 1 Week since 12/12

Since we last met I've flushed the plants throughly to reduce the ppm which probably built up too quickly (I bought a mw801 ph/ec meter so I can monitor my nutes better)

I transplanted them into there final 3 gallon pots. I probably should have done this sooner as they really exploded after the transplant. They also got their first watering with FF Tiger Bloom (nutes) and FF Big Bloom (food). I'm taking it easy (1/2 strength) on the nutes until my meter gets here. My next watering will be plain ph balanced water.

I have female pistol confirmation on both my plants!!! so with out further ado
