KJV verses today's modern versions... Part I

This was originally a PM to With_His_Author, but I decided to make it a thread just incase anyone else was interested in knowing about the differences in Bible versions...

Warning: This will be LONG. I mean LOOOOOOOOONG (as in 25 pages in MS Word)... As I will be copying an article I came across in the back of my most precious Bible (lots of sentimental value). Every now and then, you will see comments in {}'s These are added by me and are not found in the article.

Please take the time to read the entire thing as I've put a lot of work into this. You asked me for proof, and here it is.

A lot of the verses that are repeated in the side-by-side comparison are repeated because they are vital doctrinal verses. I will be comparing the KJV to the following 7 versions: Good News Bible/Today's English Version, New American Standard Version, New English Bible, New International Version, New King James Version, Revised Standard Version, and the The Living Bible.

I'd like to begin by quoting Revelation 22:18, 19, which states: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and fromt he things which are written in this book."

"What Makes a Good Version?"

Almost every new Bible version extols its own virtue, claiming (like the New Internation Version) to be "balanced, scholarly... most exact... so faithfully accurate, etc. The validity of such claims must be examined under the searchlight of God's Word "For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth" (2 Corinthians 10:18). Self commendation must be judged by God's Word.

What makes a good version? Here we define certain minimal Biblical criteria which a version must satisfy before it can be called good.

Criteria of a Good version.

• A version must do honor to God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. In particular it must satisfy the question: What think ye of Christ?
• A version must honor the Person and Redemptive Work of the Lord Jesus Christ in all parts of the Text. In no part must there be a diminution, dilution, or undermining thereof.
• Every essential article of our Christian Faith and Doctrine must be preserved wholly and completely, and must not in any way be diminished, distorted, diluted, or deleted.

A Good Version Must Uphold These Essential Articles of Christian Faith and Doctrine Without Any Compromise in Any of its Parts.

• We believe that GOD exists in three co-equal and co-eternal Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
• We believe that Jesus Christ the eternal Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man.
• We believe that sinners are "justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His Blood" (Romans 2:24, 25).
• We believe that "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again [bodily] the third day according to the Scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4). Having ascended to heaven, He is now exalted at the right hand of God the Father, interceding for those who have truly trusted Him as their Savior (Hebrews 7:25).
• We believe in the return of Christ for His own (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18) and also the personal and visible return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to earth as KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS (Revelation 19:16), and He shall reign on this earth a thousand years (Revelation 20:6).
• We believe that at death the believer immediately enters into the presence of the Lord in Heaven, for "to be absent from the body" is "to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8).
• We believe only in the real spiritual unity in Christ of true believers who are redeemed by His precious Blood (1 Corinthians 12:12; 1 Peter 1:18, 19).
• We believe that true believers are holy unto God and must not be united with unbelievers in any sort of prayer or worship (2 Corinthians 6:14-18), or any ecumenical linkage.

We believe that every version must be carefully examined in all its parts according to the above criteria to test its soundness or otherwise.

Modern Bible Versions Examined.

Without the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit it is impossible to discern between a good Bible and a corrupt one. Every Bible version on casual reading seems good, but we must not go by impressions. We are dealing with the Word of Truth, and every chapter, every verse, every line, every Word, must comform to the Truth.

A good Bible version must uphold faithfully every essential article of Christian faith and doctrine in all of its parts. No part of the version must in any way compromise, contradict, or undermine any one of these essential articles either because of its underlying text, or because of its technique of translation.

Users of popular modern English versions may take offense when told that the Bible which they hold dear is corrupted. They say, "How could it possibly be bad?" They have been much blessed, perhaps even led to salvation in Jesus Christ, through reading their particular version. We need much wisdom from above which is "pure, peaceable, gentle, easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits" (James 3:17). This is a deep spiritual matter, and spiritual things must be "spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:15). We need Holy Spirit wisdom and grace to set forth the case, remembering that some of us, before we saw the light, were also enamored with some modern Bible version until God in mercy opened our eyes and "delivered us" (Colossians 1:13) from Satan's snare.

Before we set out on our difficult task of evaluating modern Bible versions, one final word to the reader. Have you ever handled a counterfeit dollar note, or a thousand dollar note? Some of us have been deceived or cheated because "it looked just like the real thing." Only the discerning eye sees the "Fatal flaw," the absence of the water-mark or security thread.

Only a small difference, perhaps just one percent, makes all the difference. So it is with counterfeit Bible versions. We must look beyond impressions.

Modern Bible versions will prove true or false, good or corrupt, faithful or counterfeit in the "water mark" and "security thread" of vital essential articles of faith and doctrine. Do not look at "readability" and "beautiful understandable language." Go to the heart of the matter, and test the version by each article of faith and doctrine. Therein lies the proof of goodness or corruption. This is a spiritual thing: spiritual things must be "spiritually discerned."

God help us as we examine seven modern English versions under the searchlight of God's Word. For space constraints, we shall highlight only a few representative passages of the corruption in each version. Fuller reviews are available from more than 1,000 titles carried by THE BIBLE FOR TODAY, 900 Park Avenue, Collingswood, New Jersey 08108 U.S.A. These are all listed in the back of Defending the King James Bible (by Dr. D. A. Waite) and also in a separate booklet, B.F.T. Brochure #1, which is available upon request.

In the comparisons to follow, The king James Bible will be abbreviated as "KJB" and the other versions will also have an appropriate abbreviation. Sometimes the differences are due to differences in the Greek text and other times there is no difference in the Greek text but only in the translation technique and preferences of the translators. Regardless of the reason behind it, the resultant problem is the same.

1.) GNB (Good News Bible) [Also called Today's English Version (TEV)].

The GNB questions the virgin birth of christ by removing the prophecy of His virgin birth in Isaiah 7:14.

KJB: "A virgin shall conceive."
GNB: "A young woman will have a son."

{Hmmm... Any young woman could conceive a son. This clearly attacks the virgin birth of Christ.}

The GNB questions the eternal pre-existence of Christ by tampering with Micah 5:2 and removing the word "everlasting."

KJB: "from everlasting"
GNB: "from ancient times"

{Yeah... Christ was eternal. "From ancient times" would mean that He had a beginning. This is a clear attack on Christian

doctrine. If Christ was God - and God is eternal (no beginning, no ending), then how is it possible that Christ was only from "ancient times?"}

The GNB alters our Lord's divine goodness by deleting the word "good" from Matthew 19:16, 17.

KJB: "Good Master, what good thing shall I do... Why called thou Me good? There is none good but One, that is God."
GNB: "Teacher... what good thing must I do... Why do you ask me concerning what is good? There is only One who is good."

{The term "Good" was only ascribed to God as "there are none good, no not one." In this passage, the person called Jesus

"God" when he called him "Good Master." In the GNB - Jesus was not called Good - but teacher.}

The chief translator of GNB does not believe that Jesus is God, hence his willingness to accept a textual variant that denies this.

The GNB eliminates Christ's divine sonship in John 6:69.

KJB: "We believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God"
GNB: "We believe and know that you are the Holy One who has come from God."

{Hmm... Wouldn't you agree that prophets were Holy Men who came from God? What about the apostles? This passage puts Jesus at the level of mere men.}

The GNB omits Chrit's title "Son of God" in John 9:35.

KJB: "Son of God"
GNB: "Son of Man"

{Self explanatory?}

This clear reference to our Lord's unique Sonship is destryoed by the GNB.

The GNB replaces references to Christ's "Blood" with "death." Many of the numerous passages which speak of the "Blood of Christ" (1 Peter 1:18, 19), without which there is no redemption, are mutilated, and the vital words have been effectively expunged from the GNB. One example is Ephesians 1:7:

KJB: "In Whom we have redemption through His Blood,"
GNB: "For by the death of Christ we are set free."

Another example is 1 Peter 1:18, 19.

KJB: "But with the precious Blood of Christ."
GNB: "By the costly sacrifice of Christ."

In fourteen other places which speak of the Lord Jesus Christ, "Blood" has been removed in the GNB and has been replaced with "death" or "sacrifice."

There are many other examples of mistranslation and incorrect exegesis which go to make a most corrupt version, the GNB.

{Salvation was through the shedding of Christ's Blood. Not His death, not his Sacrifice... His Blood. As the Jews' sins were cleansed through the shedding of the blood of the Lamb - so our sins are cleansed through the shedding of the Blood of the Lamb}

Conclusion

The GNB presents another Christ, not the Christ of the Bible, the only begotten of the Father, the Virgin-born Son of God.

God manifest in the flesh, the Second Person of the Trinity.

The GNB elminates the vital doctrine of redemption through the Blood of the Lamb, to present a bloodless and false gospel.

The GNB is a corrupt version.

2.) NASV (New American Standard Version).

The NASV questions the eternal pre-existence of Christ by tampering with Micah 5:2, removing the word "everlasting."

KJB: "from everlasting"
NASV: "ancient times"

The NASV removes the assertion of our Lord's virgin birth in Matthew 1:25.

KJB: "firstborn son."
NASV: "a son."

The NASV questions our Lord's divine goodness by deleting the word "good" from Matthew 19:16, 17.

(see GNB example)

The NASV removes reference to our Lord's bodily resurrection in Luke 24:40.

KJB: "When he had thus spoken, He shewed them his hands and his feet."
NASV: *This important testimony to our Lord's physical resurrection is removed from the text and dismissed to the margin in some editions, and put in parenthesis in others, showing doubt of its authenticity.*

{Removed?!? Why would you remove something so important?}

The NASV omits the salvation exclusive to faith in Christ, in John 6:47.

KJB: "He that believeth on Me hath everlasting life."
NASV: "He who believes has everlasting life."

This text in the NASV effectively opens the door of salvation to anyone who believes anything.

{Yup, we see a lot of that today, don't we? Just read around in the forums some. You'll see my point}

The NASV questions Christ's divine sonship in John 6:69.

KJB: "Christ, the Son of the living God"
NASV: "the Holy One of God"

{Again, there were a lot of Holy men of God in the Bible. Read the OT for a few examples}

The NASV removes the title "Son of God" in John 9:35.

KJB: "Son of God,"
NASV: "Son of Man."

The NASV eliminates reference to our Lord's incarnation in 1 Timothy 3:16.

KJB: "God was manifest in the flesh"
NASV: "He who was manifest..."

{Again, why would you remove something so important?!? There's a very big difference in what those two statements say.}

The NASV omits reference to our Lord's ascension in Luke 24:51.

KJB: "And it came to pass... He was parted from them, and carried up into heaven."
NASV: "And it came about... He parted from them."

The NASV omits "carried up into heaven," thus removing a reference to our Lord's miraculous bodily ascension into heaven.

{And if Christ didn't physically ascend into heaven - then our faith is in vain because Christ "rose again the third day according to the scriptures"

Conclusion

The NASV, in the places mentioned above, entertains serious doubts about our Lord's Divine Sonship of God, His incarnation and Lordship, His Divine goodness and His bodily resurrection.

The NASV attacks the doctrine that salvation is exclusive to christ alone.

The NASV is a corrupt version.

3.) NEB (New English Bible)

The NEB drops the reference to the virgin birth of Christ in Isaiah 7:14.

KJB: "A virgin shall conceive"
NEB: "A young woman is with child..."

{Big difference in what's being said. One is a virgin and a miracle. The other is just a young woman - and is no miracle}

In Matthew 1:16 a NEB footnote says, "one early witness has -- Joseph, to whom Mary, a virgin was betrothed, was the father..."

This note destroys the virgin birth of our Lord, Who did not have any earthly father, by falsely alleging that Joseph was the father.

The NEB obscures the eternal Sonship of Christ in John 1:14; and 3:16.

KJB: "the only begotten Son"
NEB: "the only Son"

The Greek "monogenes" refers to our Lord's eternal Sonship, ("eternally begotten") of the Father. To change it to "only Son" is manipulation, not translation.

The NEB dilutes words referring to the atonement in 1 John 2:2.

KJB: "In whom we have redemption through His Blood"
NEB: "In whom we have release"

{Redemption from our sins is not the same as "release"}

The "Blood" is removed in various places in the NEB. (Satan hates the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ).

The NEB removes the need for imputed righteousness in Matthew 5:20.

KJB: "Except your righteousness shall exceed the rightousness of the scribes and Pharisees"
NEB: "unless you show yourselves far better men"

In this NEB text, the sinner is not led to Christ Who alone is "made unto us... righteous" (1 Corinthians 1:30), but this modern version merely exhorts him to show himself a better man than the Pharisee. This is a false and pernicious doctrine.

{This is also how you could come up with a doctrine that says you get to heaven by how good a person you are, not by the blood of Christ (which is taught in almost every Catholic church on the planet)}.

The NEB permits a false understand of the creation in Genesis 1:1.

KJB: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
NEB: "In the beginning of creation, when God made"

This NEB text implies falsely the pre-existence of matter out of which God created, and denies the doctrine that God created "ex nihilo," i.e. out of nothing (Hebrews 11:3).

Conclusion.

The NEB presents a Christ born of naturla human parents, not the eternal only begotten Son of God.The NEB questions the Atonement and Redemption through the precious Blood of Christ the Lamb of God.

The NEB is a corrupt version.

4.) The NIV (The New International Version)

The NIV claims to be "The most exact, illuminating rendering of the original languages into English... so faithfully accurate, that it ushers in a new era of Scriptural clarity for Christians around the world" (Zondervan Publishing House, 1978).

To be "most exact" and "faithfully accurate," a Bible version must (among other things) do honor to the Person and Work of our Lord Christ in each of these eight vital areas, and no less: 1.) His Work of Redemption; 2.) His Eternal Pre-existence; 3.) His Deity; 4.) His Sonship of God; 5.) His Virgin Birth; 6.) His Bodily Resurrection; 7.) His Bodily Ascension; 8.) His

Bodily Return.

On close examination the NIV fails to pass the test in each of the eight areas and many other vital areas besides. For our purpose, however, we shall confine ourselves to only these eight.

The NIV passages which subtly dishonor or attack the Person and Work of our Lord Jesus Christ are just too many to enumerate.

However, we shall first take two or three verses pertaining to each of the eight areas to show beyond a shadow of doubt that the NIV claims are misleading and false, and it is in fact a most corrupt version.

I. NIv distorts Christ's Work of Redemption.

A.) Verses which speak of our Lord's coming to save men:
1.) Matthew 18:11

KJB: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost."
NIV: [The entire verse is omitted]

{WHY?!? That's a little important, don't you think?}

2.)Luke 9:56

KJB: "For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them."
NIV: [This portion of the verse is omitted.]

{Again, WHY???}


B.) Removal of the Blood of Christ in Colossians 1:14

KJB: "In whom we have redemption through his Blood"
NIV: "In whom we have redemption"

Note: The NIV Translators have removed "through his Blood." Why? Satan hates the Blood of Christ because the Blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7), and God's people overcome Satan by the Blood of the Lamb (Reverlation 12:11).

C.) The NIV destroys the uniqueness of salvation in Christ in John 6:47.

KJB: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life."
NIV: "I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life."

Note: The NIV removes "on me" (i.e. on Christ) to open the door of salvation to anyone who believes anything. This favors the ecumenical doctrine that "all faiths lead to God."

II. NIV obscures Christ's Eternal Pre-existence in Micah 5:2 by removing the word "everlasting."

KJB: "Out of thee shall He come forth whose goings forth have been from everlasting."
NIV: "Out of you will come for me one whose origins are from ancient times."

Note: NIV by chaging "everlasting" to "origins" and "ancient times" has destroyed our Lord's eternal pre-existence, reducing Him, to a mere man.

III. NIV eliminates reference to Christ's Incarnation and Deity.

A.) 1 Timothy 3:16

KJB: "God was manifest in the flesh"
NIV: "He appeared in a body"

{Who did?}

Note: NIV has changed "God" to "He" and in this place has destroyed our Lord's Deity in His Incarnation.

B.) Philippians 2:5, 6

KJB: "Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God."
NIV: "Christ Jesus, Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped."

{Uh... Yeah... That says something A LOT different!}

Note: Niv translators have reversed the meaning of the text whereas in the Kign James Bible our Lord is equal with God, the NIV states the opposite. Satan hates God the Son, therefore he attacks the Deity of Christ by this manipulative act.

IV. NIV questions Christ's Sonship and His title "Son of God."

A.) John 9:35

KJB: "Dost thou believe on the Son of God?"
NIV: "Do you believe in the Son of man?"

B.) Acts 3:13

KJB: "The God of our fathers, hath glorified His Son Jesus."
NIV: "The God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus."

Note: In these two verses, the NIV has dishonored our Lord, changing "God" to "man," and "Son" to "servant."

V. NIV undermines the Virgin Birth of Christ.

A.) Luke 2:33

KJB: "And Joseph and his mother marvelled."
NIV: "The child's father and mother marvelled."

Note: The NIV translators have undermined our Lord's Virgin Birth by making Joseph His father, which is a lie of the Devil.

B.) John 3:16

KJB: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son."
NIV: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son."

Note: The Greek monogenes means "only begotten" and describes our Lord's Sonship as the "eternally begotten of the Father."

This excludes a human father in His birth. The NIV rendering "One and only" obscures the doctrine of our Lord's eternal Sonship and Virgin Birth.

{This also contradicts the other spot in the NIV that says when you're saved you become the "Sons of God" (John 1:12).}

VI. NIV removes Christ's Bodily Resurrection

Mark 16:19-20 speaks of our Lord's post resurrection appearances. The NIV separates this passage from the rest of th etext, and inserts before it the note: "The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20.

Note: The "most reliable early manuscripts" alluded to are the most corrupt Vatican and Sinai manuscripts, the source texts of Modern English Versions.

VII. NIV omits the bodily Ascension of our Lord.

John 16:16

KJB: "A little while, and ye shall not see me because I go to the Father."
NIV: "In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a while you will see me."

Note: Do the NIV translators believe in our Lord's Resurrection and Ascension to the Father? Why did they remove the record of His Ascension found in the words, "I go to the Father"? Because they were following the erroneous text of Westcott and Hort and its modern counterparts.

{Westcott and Hort tie in with the Vatican and Sinia manuscripts... More on them and their manuscripts later.}

VIII. NIV omits the Lord's bodily Return.

A.) Matthew 25:13

KJB: "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh."
NIV: "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour."

Note: The NIV translators have accepted a Greek text whose philosophy is leavened with the leaven of unbelief and which denies things which pertain to our Lord's Deity, His eternal Prexistence, Virgin Birth, Resurrection, Ascension, etc.

Therefore they have removed the six words of our Lord's which speak of His return.

B.) Revelation 11:17

KJB: "O Lord God almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come"
NIV: "Lord God almighty, the One who is and who was."

Note: The NIV translators have removed the three words "art to come" which speak of our Lord's promised Return," which they reject here.

A Final Observation: NIV's Pro-Gay Bias

Among the NIV translation committee was a self-confessed lesbian and a pro-gay ember, who do not believe that homosexuality is a sin to be condemned, but rather a loving relationship acceptable to God.

In five OT passages the words "sodomite" or "sodomites" are replaced by "shrine prostitute" or "male shrine prostitutes." (See Deuteronomy 23:17; 1 Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46; 2 Kings 23:7).

The NIV's wresting of Scripture (2 Peter 3:16) justifies homosexuals in their abominable practices and makes the version gay-frindly and acceptable to the gay community.

Conclusion
The few verses, selected from a great number available, are ample proof of the NIV's extreme doctrinal corrutpion.

The ecumenical composition of the translators which included Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Atheistic scholars pre-determined an ecumenical agenda for the translation process.

Therefore it is no surprise the NIV, in these and other verses, presents: A.) A humanized Jesus born of natural parents. B.) A Savior Jesus, one among many. C.) A heaven open to all, Christians and others.

The NIV is a corrupt version.

5.) NKJV (New King James Version).

The NKJV is a masterpiece of deception, a counterfeit of the original King James Bible, the authentic Word of God, the Authorized Version.

The NKJV was originally advertised as the fifth revision of the Authorized Version, "carefully updated so that it will once again speak God's eternal truths with clarity," subtly insinuating that the King James Bible did not speak God's eternal truths with clarity (Why the NKJV, Thomas Nelson Publishers)> The Publishers claim that the purpose of publishing the NKJV was to preserve the authority and accuracy of the original King James Bible while making it understandable to 20th Century readers by updating the grammar, punctuation, archaic words, etc. Smoke-screens!

The finished work was said to be "beautifully clear" and, "highly readable." The Publishers spent millions to convince the public that the NKJV is the Bible of the present and the future.More smoke-screens. Let us sweep aside the smoke-screens and take a close look at the book itself.

1.) The Source Texts

These are said to be the same basic manuscripts as those used for the King James Bible, namely, the Hebrew Masoretic Text (OT) and the Greek Textus Receptus (NT).

However, careful examination reveals that the NKJV translators put in the footnotes of the study editions the corrupt Critical or Minority Text of Westcott and Hort (from which the corrupt Modern English Versions are derived)> It is identified as "NU." The "n" stands for the Nestle-Aland Text. The "U" stands for the United Bible Society text. Both of these texts are dependent largely on the corrupt Vatican and Sinai manuscripts, virtually the same as the Westcott and Hort Greek text of 1881.

2.) The Translators

The translators included nine scholars who had been in the NIV translating team, and had been using a different source text (The Critical Text of Westcott and Hort), and a different translation methodology (Dynamic Equivalence), both of which are most corrupt.

The nine NIV translators would most certainly have left the imprint of their deviant philosophy and theology on the NKJV text, and they did.

3.) The Technique

The translators professed to adopt the "Complete Equivalence" method, and to shun the corrupt "Dynamic Equivalence" method.

Their profession, however, is not matched by their translation, which is replete with the diabolical "Dynamic Equivalence" -- men's corrupt thoughts replacing God's Words. [For over 2,000 instances of this, see B.F.T. #1442 published by The Bible For Today, 900 Park Avenue, Collingswood, New Jersey, USA.].

4.) The Theology

The theology of the NKJV translators differed greatly from that of the King James Bible translators. The latter group lived some two hundred years before the rise of modern thought. Their theology was pure and godly, untainted by the godless ideologies which abound today.

The same cannot be said of the NKJV translators. Their theology is certainly inconsistent with that of their King James Bible counterparts. Careful reading of the NKJV text leaves no doubt that the translators' thinking has been leavened with the leaven of Higher Critical thought and therefore they did not hesitate to mutilate the Words of God, including the Name of God.

This carefree abandon and recless handling of God's Words is seen in the approxmate 100,000 word changes in the NKJV text and in the underlying purpose of the Footnotes which will be mentioned below.

To the Believer, God's Name Is Holy and Reverend

"Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed by thy name" (Matthew 6:9).

In this prayer taught by our Lord Jesus we see how we should hold God's name in highest honor for "holy and reverend is His Name" (Psalm 111:9). "His name shall endure over for ever... blessed be His glorious Name for ever" (Psalm 72:17, 19).

What sort of regard do the NKJV translators have for God's Name? Do they hold it dear and precious, they who claimed to have spent "Months of prayer, research, and discussion over the handling of a single word" (Testimony of Thomas Nelson Publishers)? Smoke-screens again!

NKJV Translators' Disregard for God's Name

Analysis of the NKJV text reveals the translators' wanton disregard and disrespect for God's name. Based on the Logos Research Systems computer program:

1.) The word "LORD" is thrown out 56 times out of the 6,668.
2.) The word "GOD" is ejected 35 times out of the 3,878.
3.) The word "JEHOVAH" is alltogether missing.

How Precious Is God's Word to Every Child of God!

To the Psalmist God's Word is better than "thousands of gold and silver" (Psalm 119:72), and he says: "My heart standeth in awe of Thy Word" (Psalm 119:161) "for thou has mangnified thy word above all thy name" (Psalm 128:2).

But the NKJV Translators Dishonor God's Word

In their so-called "fifth revision" of the King James Bible, the "revisers" brought in about 100,000 word changes

(conservative estimate by Dr. D. A. Waite in his paper "Defects in the New King James Version")> Based on the Logos Research Systems computer program, compared to the King James Bible, the NKJV changes include the following:

1.) The word "heaven" is missing 48 out of 550 times.
2.) The word "hell" is thrown out 22 of 54 times.
3.) The word "blood" is deleted 18 out of 375 times.
4.) The word "repent" is ejected 11 out of 43 times.
5.) the word "new testament" is cast out all 6 times.
6.) The word "damnation" is missing all 11 times.

Question: By what authority do these revisers take away the precious Words from God's Holy Book?

NKJV Translators Dishonor God's Son

Our Lord Jesu Christ, the second Person of the Holy Trinity, deserves worship and honor from every true beliver. Such honor is diminished by the NKJV translators, as shown below. Which sets of terms gives a higher respect to the Lord Jesus Christ in our present English language?

NKJV Translators Undermine God's Word with Deadly "Footnotes"

A prominent feature of the NKJV is the addition, in the study editions, of extensive textual footnotes which constantly cast doubt on the Scripture text and call into question the authenticity of many passages.

What purpose do these "footnotes" serve? For an answer we quote from the NKJV editors:

What are the NKJV editors saying? Simply this: The footnotes were inserted to encourage the average reader to take up their own editorial scalpel and excise any part which he felt was not properly a part of the text. The NKJV editors have laid God's Word ont he chopping block of human intellect for anyone who feels like it to chop off anything he did not like!

In the foregoing paragraphs we have presented sufficient evidence to prove beyond doubt that the NKJV is another corrupt

modern English bible, masquerading under the cover of the "King James" label.

Other theological errors are beyond the scope of these pages, but they include attacks on the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, and the way of salvation.

We end this brief dissertation with a note on the pro-gay bias and pro-Catholic stance of the translators.

Pro-Gay Bias of NKJV Translators

Among the NKJV translators were nine scholars who had participated in the NIV translation. The NIV team of translators/editors had at least one pro-gay member and a self-confessed lestian. A pro-gay bias was shwon by the NIV translators' substituting the word "sodomite" or "sodomites" with "shrine prostitute" or "shrine prostitutes" in the NIV.

In the case of the NKJV the same words "Sodomite" or "sodomites" are rendered "perverted one" or "perverted persons" in these Old Testament passages: Deuteronomy 23:17; 1 Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46; 2 Kings 23:7).

Question: What was the reason why they "wrest" the "scripture" (2 Peter 2:16)?
Answer: God's Word supplies the answer 2 Peter 2:3. "And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you."

Thomas Nelson Publishers are the biggest Bible publishers in the world. They have reduced God's Word to a commodity, another item of merchandise to enrich the book people. To tap the gay market the revisers/publishers, have made the NKJV "gay friendly" removing the offensive word "sodomite." Both NKJV and NIV are top money spinners. "There are big bucks in Bible business!"

Pro-Catholic Stance of the NKJV Translators

James 5:16

KJB: "Confess your faults one to another"
NKJV: "Confess your trespasses to one another"

Note: "Faults" among Christians should be confessed "one to another," but trespasses are sins and should be confessed to God alone.

But the NKJV rendering favors the Roman Catholic Confessional in which trespasses and sins are confessed to the priest.

Conclusion

Having reviewed in some depth, through briefly, one is left in no doubt about the evil nature of this counterfeit "King James" version, the NKJV.

NKJV is a corrupt version.

6.) RSV (Revised Standard Version)

A.) The RSV obscures the virgin birth in Isaiah 7:14.

KJB: "A virgin shall conceive..."
RSV: "A young woman shall conceive..."

This mistranslation humanizes the Lord Jesus, reducing Him to a mere man.

B.) The RSV questions the eternal pre-existence of Christ by tampering with Micah 5:2, removing the word "everlasting."

KJB: "whose goings forth have been... from everlasting."
RSV: "whose origins are from... ancient days."

This mistranslation gives to our Lord, the eternal Son, an "origin" in time.

C.) The RSV obscures our Lord's miraculous birth in Matthew 1:16.

KJB: "And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus"
RSV: (Early editions have this footnote) "Joseph was the father of Jesus"

This RSV footnote denies the virgin birth.

D.) The RSV omits our Lord's Divine Goodness in Matthew 19:16, 17.

KJV: "Good Master, what good thing shall I do... Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is God."
RSV: "Teacher... what good deed must I do... Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good."

The RSV mistranslation denies that Jesus is the "Good Master" and one with God.

E.) The RSV omits references to our Lord's Bodily Resurrection.

1.) Mark 16:9-20:

KJB: Records our Lord's Post-Resurrection appearances.
RSV: The whole passage is relaged to the margin, casting doubt on the genuineness of our Lord's resurrection.

2.) Luke 24:40:

KJV: "And when He had thus spoken, He shewed them His hands and His feet"
RSV: Omits the entire verse.

This verse records our Lord showing the disciples His hands and feet to prove the reality of His bodily resurrection.

F.) The RSV removes that salvation is exclusive to faith in Christ alone in John 6:47.

KJV: "he that believeth on me hath everlasting life."
RSV: "He who believes has eternal life."

The RSV mistranslation opens the door of salvation to anyone who believes anything.

G.) The RSV leaves out Christ's Divine Sonship in John 6:69.

KJV: "We believe and are sure that Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."
RSV: "We have believed and have come to know that you are the Holy One of God."

H.) The RSV dismisses Christ's title "Son of God" in John 9:35.

KJV: "Son of God"
RSV: "Son of man"

The RSV verse eliminates our Lord's personal testimony of His own Divine Sonship.

I.) The RSV eliminates our Lord's personal testimony of His own Divine Sonship.

1.) The RSV rearranges the placement of Blood in a note in Acts 20:28.

KJV: "the church of God, which He hath purchased with His own Blood"
RSV: adds a marginal note, offering an alternative reading "with the Blood of his own"

This marginal note destroys the testimony to the Deity of the Redeemer Who purchased the believers with His own blood.

The foregoing nine instances of malicious tampering of Scripture aimed at the Person and Work of our Lord Jesus Christ suffice to prove that the RSV is a corrupt and wicked version. To add to this list fromt he many other similar examples is a tiresome and needless repetition.

Conclusion

The RSV presents another Jesus, not the Christ of Scripture, the only begotten of the Father, the Virgin-born Son of God, God manifest int he flesh, the Second Person of the Trinity.

The RSV attacks the vital doctrine of redemption through the Blood of Christ.

The RSV is a corrupt version.

7.) TLB (The Living Bible).

As one examines the so-called "Living Bible" the words of Holy Scripture come swiftly to mind is Psalm 138:2: "I will worship toward Thy holy temple, and praise thy name... for Thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy Name."

If so, how should we honor God's Word? Wherefore the Psalmist exclaims, "Princes have persecuted me without a cause, but my heart standeth in awe of thy word" (Psalm 119:161). The prophet Habakkuk prays, "O Lord, I have heard Thy speech, and was afraid... When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at Thy voice: rotenness entered into my bones, and I trembled" (Habakkuk 3:2, 16).

The godly man trembles at the sound of God's Word!

But haughty men have not known the glory of the Lord nor the power of His Word, who handle His word lightly and flippantly.

Consider that awesome event when the Lord descended on Mount Sinai to deliver the Commandments. How the whole mountain quaked greatly and the people trembled in the midst of thunder and lightning and blasting trumpet sound exceeding loud (Exodus 19:16-18), as God spoke the Word!

The Lord speaks: let all the earth tremble!

The Trinitarian Bible Society's review gives us valuable insight into the version under consideration.

We are introduced to the translator of TLB, Mr. Kenneth N. Taylor, who said in an interview:

"We take the original thought and convert it into the languate of today... we can be much more accurate than the verbal translation... I felt such a thrill at my own privelege of stripping away some of the verbiage... being a co-worker with God... I flipped open my Bible and began to experiment with this new method of translation."

But what does the Lord say to all this? Can any mortal take the "original thought" of God and "Convert it into the language of today" and make it "much more accurate" or assume to himself the "privelege of stripping away the verbiage" from God's Book? God's Word is reduced to verbiage by one who makes reckless claims with arrogant presumption.

But our Lord says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways... For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8, 9).

Furthermore be instructed: "Every word of God is pure... Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar" (Proverbs 30: 5, 6). Then Deuteronomy 4:2: "Ye shall not add unto the words which I command you; neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord."

"Every word of God is pure": let no mortal tamper with it.

Comment

We shall not burden with reader with any lengthy communtary, but quoting from the Trinitarian bible Society review Article 108, we offer a brief resume.

A.) The translator's "language of today" intruding into the Sacred Book of God is found to be "extremely vulgar" and "synonymous with the lowest forms of colloquial speech."

B.) "Instances of mistaken interpretation or exegesis are quite numberous" and "in many places the Living Bible is highly inaccurate..."

C.) "The Living Bible professes to express the original thought in the language of today, but in many places it appears to invent original thoughts which ahve no place in the original text."

But far more serious are the subtle attacks on the person and work of our Lord Jesu Christ hidden within the pages of the Living bible. The author of The Living Bible attacks the Author of the Bible!

Consider the Evidence

A.) TLB permits a false understanding of the Creator and His creation in Genesis 1:1.

KJV: "In the beginning God created."
TLB: "When God began creating"

This malicious manipulation of God's Word destroys the doctrine that God was the Creator, the Great First Cause Who created all things "in the beginning."

{I'd also like to point out that this allows an open door for evolutionists to creep into Christianity because it says: "When God began creating." This could be used to argue that there was something around before God began creating what we have today, and leave wiggle room for evolutionists.}

B.) TLB omits a reference to Christ as the Creator in Ephesians 3:9.

KJB: "Who created all things by Jesus Christ"
TLB: "He who made all things"

By this wresting of Scripture, and leaving out "by Jesus Christ," the TLB makes out that Christ is not the Creator.

C.) TLB elevates man, and falsely ascribes to him the ability to enrich God in Ephesians 1:18.

KJB: "and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints."
TLB: "God has been made rich because we who are Christ's have been given to him."

This TLB verse is a reversal of the truth: It is not God Who "has been made rich," but it is God who makes His people rich.

D.) Ephesians 4:24

KJB: "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."
TLB: "You must be a new and different person, holy and good. Clothe yourself with the new nature."

The TLB manipulator elevates many by a false doctrine. God alone can create righteousness and true holiness in a believer.

E.) Philippians 1:11

KJB: "The fruits of righteousness... are by Jesus Christ."
TLB: "Doing those good, kind things which show that you are a child of God."

The TLB rendering contradicts the truth. This is a false assumption. "Doing good and king things" are "fruits of righteousness" which the Christian is enabled to bear "by Jesus Christ." TLB elevates man, and displaces Christ.

F.) TLB omits the Deity of Christ in Romans 9:5.

KJB: "Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen."
TLB: "Christ himself was one of you he who now rules over all things. Praise God forever."

The testimony that Christ is God is removed.

G.) TLB humanizes our Lord Jesus Christ and omits the Incarnation in 1 Timothy 3:16.

KJB: "And without contreversy God was manifest in the flesh."
TLB: "But the answer lies in Christ, who came to earth as a man."

Here the testimony that "God" was come int he flesh is eliminated.

Conclusion

As a rendering of God's Word TLB is vulgar and inaccurate. In doctrinal matters TLB attacks Christ as God and Creator. TLB is a corrupt version.

Closing Remarks

"Yea, hath God said?"

With increasing ferocity the serpent has intensified his attack on God's Word in these end times, by multiplying counterfeit Scriptures -- modern English Bible versions -- contaminated with subtle injections of doctrines of devels.

For nearly four hundred years, oine Bible, the King James bible, stood alone, universally received and acknowledged as The Word of God in English. It was considered (and it is) the authoritative and accurate translation into English of the plenarily and verbally inspired, inerrant, infallible, preserved Hebrew/Aramaic and Greek Words of God. Today, no longer is it thus considered.

A hundred "Bibles" bloom, a hundred versions contend, each claiming to be the "Word of God" but all contaminated and corrupt to a greater or lesser degree.

These counterfeit Bibles (supposed "Words of God") are paving the way for the counterfeit "Kingdom of God" -- OIKOUMENE, the coming ONE WORLD CHURCH, soon to materialize.

But our God and Saviour Jesus Christ says:

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you" (2 Corinthians 6:17).

So there you have it. A very long, but very informative read. If you can't see that these modern versions are nothing more than Satan's attack on the Word of God after this comparison, I seriously question just how "open" you are to learning the truth.

I've never heard of Tony Alamo...

The KJV is accepted as the only authorized version due to it's history, souce texts, and translation methods... This has LONG explaination possibility so I won't go into it. If you want more details, I'll gladly give them upon request.

I've compared the KJV to the Aramaic, Greek, and Hebrew (not in its entirety - as I'm only 21, and feel like actually having a life), and it stacks up quite nicely.

I have a Hebrew/Greek dictionary, and anything I've checked in the KJV matches the dictionary.

 

I agree that the KJV is the preserved Word of God for us english speakers... The modern versions do contain portions of the Word of God, but they have been mutilated. The closest modern version to the KJV is still missing about 3% of the original texts.

 

I forget exactly which version it is, but it's translated from the Majority/Critical Texts, which contains 98.7% of the original text... Upon translation they subtracted a bit more though...
