Best combo - replace Vicodin & Anxiety - What do YOU think?

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by BuddingBotanist, May 5, 2010.

  1. I'm in my 40's. I use Vicodin for my back, an antidepressant for stress, and cholesterol meds. I also have sleep apnea and have to sleep with a mask - which isn't easy.

I moved about 3 months ago, I found an old bag from about 20 years ago! There wasn't much left, but not being able to sleep one night thought, "Hmmmm." Well after just a a few tokes, got the BEST night's sleep in over a year, and was able to use the mask. Then I tried some earlier in the evening and my back actually felt better ( was able to skip Vicoden) and again, slept, GREAT.

So, over the last 3 months I've been doing research into med use. It looks like Wash DC is getting closer to med use, but not yet. So...I'm stuck. I've actually been thinking about a trip to Cali, and since I don't need much figure I'll grow my own, BUT NEED YOUR HELP. If you have a moment and I'd appreciate any input advice.

    1. It seems like Indica would be best for sleeping but that Sativa is more for "daytime" use/pain management. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

    2. What would be the best to grow? - what specific type do you think would be best for my symptoms but able to grow as a begginer? If you have a fav. and know where I can order the seeds, please let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to read and for your advice and help. :)

  2. in my personal opinion i would stay away from a mixture of caffine and sativa based pot if you have anxiety cause the headtrip can cause you to trigger your anxiety if i were you i would go with a sativa dominant hybrid for the day use cause that lil bit of indica will help you to keep your nerves in check and also for a day time relief i would go for eddible cannabis products cause it does not cause the complete head high it kinda stays in the body.

now to get you to sleep well at night i would suggest a few bong rips off of an indica dominant hybrid i beleive you will sleep very well at night as for specific strains for my sleep problems i usualy go for a kush, grandaddy purple, purple urkel, or an afghani strain. the only problem i seem to have is i cannot remember any of my dreams....i guess that is cuz i just love my bong rips. peace out man

  3. 1. I would recommend a nice hybrid, something around 50/50 sativa/indica (and up to 70/30). I have a fused spine along with spinal cord damage and these combination's work the best for me. Go indica dominant for sleepy time and sativa dominant for daytime.

    2. For pain and anxiety in one plant, Purps has worked well for me in that department and is fairly easy to grow. My #1 medicinal plant is Jack Herer, but the Sensi Seeds original only. The various knock-offs do not do the name Jack Herer justice at all, trust me these seeds are worth the extra cash. Jack is a little tougher to grow since it takes a couple more weeks to finish and needs closer monitoring overall, but completely worth it.

    Good luck :)

  4. day time im all about the SOUR DIESEL

night time ill pretty much smoke anything indica, but i just finished smokeing some grape ape that i picked up, and damn, that is some strong shit! i made the mistake of loading m one hitter with some during the day, and after a hit or two i was yawning and ready to pass out! lol.

  5. dude you live in virginia? i'm in west virginia and it seems like here in the mountains is pretty ideal for growing
    just my 2 cents
    have you ever tripped?
shrooms seem to be like a natural medicine as well
more so for the mind but the body feels the rejuvenation just as well IMO
    ;)
if i were you i'd stay in VA or just move up here with me eh eh eh
too bad i live with my parents at the moment

  6. Hey man, glad to hear you've discovered the many uses of lovely cannabis, I hope it can improve your life significantly in the future.

That said, there are a lot of strains that can really help with what you've talked about. For the back pain, a nice indica would do the trick like some of the previous posters have mentioned, also for grow indica's are going to take less time to grow (in general), stay very short and have denser buds, which is all ideal for an indoor grow if that's what you're interested in, I have no experience with outdoor but I imagine they are still great for that too. Personally, I would just stick with a few different indicas for all your problems, but I've heard a lot of people do like a good sativa for anxiety, I personally prefer sativa's for recreational smoking so you might even like those better, grow a couple of different strains and see what works for you.

If you are planning on taking a trip out here to Cali you should know that you won't be able to get medical marijuana unless you find someone who will hook you up, you have to be a California resident.
