  1. i've never inquired as to how much water to give and how often...........

    really not sure.

i've been having an OVERwatering problem.........

whats the proper amount to give and how often? (in general)

  2. Let the soil tell you when its time to water.. I use 8" pots myself..

Note: Keep in mind that roots need to travel and develop in search of water.. If water is readily available all the time, there is no need for the plant to continue root development..

The only true way i can tell is if i stick my finger about 1 inch into the dirt.. If it feels dry 1" under the soil, then its time to water.. If its still moist, i give it a day or two until dry..

When wattering, I make sure there is some run off... This way it will flush out waste products that the plant produces in the soil and keep the salts from building up creating problems later..

    Hope this helps..

  3. There is no set amount that anyone can tell you (a pint, a quart, a gallon) or a frequency (once a day, every 2 days, 3 days, once a week) -- it's dependent on your grow and set-up, and even that will change during your grow.

You cannot overwater in a single watering, any excess will run out the drainage holes. Overwatering happens from watering too frequently. When you water you want to saturate the soil until you get good runoff, then don't water again at all until the soil dries out a bit. The ol' finger-in-the-soil-to-the-first-knuckle is a good way to test.
