if your in so cal. This place is legit. I called and made an appointment the very next day. I talked to the doctor for maybe a minute paid the fee and boom. The place is right downtown off wilshire, and theres 2 locations in the valley.I'm not sure how to bring this up with my parents or my physician. I have terrible wrist pain and Ive already had surgery done on it and the pain still wont go away. Every time i smoke some bud the pain seems to go away and i want a club card. How should i go about telling my parents this? Suggestions?

So you can educate them, but no one needs to know about your activites here at GC!
Secondly, I would not go to a cheap clinic! They are far less likely to go to court with you if you are busted. Yes, legal MMJ users DO get busted! If you don't have your rec or a card on you, the cops are NOT going to take your word for it that you have one... and away you go!
NORML has a list of "friendly", reliable doctors- the price varies from doctor to doctor, so call and ask. They WILL go to court for you!
Dealing with your present doctor- print up some studies supporting your need for cannabis. READ THEM, so you can discuss them intelligently. Incidentally, HE CAN GIVE YOU A REC! Any medical doctor can! If you can get him to say (and write into your records) that cannabis may help your condition- you are legal! However, although verbal recs are allowed, they are really a bad idea. The cops want to see your papers! So get it in writing!
Of course, if you just go see a cannabis specialist- there's no problem! You bring in a copy of your medical records, your ID and the cash and you're good to go. It's THAT easy- if you have a real medical problem!
With your parents, well, having medical studies to back you up, won't hurt. You know them best, and they are just as human as you are. I know that sometimes it doesn't seem like they are even the same species as you, but they are. Approach them with respect (a cocky, know-it-all attitude isn't needed!), maturely and calmly, with you being absolutely sure of your facts and having the facts, in hand, to back up your claims.
Good luck!

Do you need to give proof/past medical records to the medical marijuana doctor showing your pain?
No you do not. They will give anyone with the 65 fee a medical marijuana liscence.

As for dispensaries, each one is different. Have a quiet chat with the owner or manager with the parents present- something may be able to be worked out on a "case by case basis".
Also, any doctor who gives recs for $65 and no medical records, is less likely to be there for you if you get caught with cannabis in your pocket and your rec at home! The cops will NOT believe you when you tell them you're "legal".

Absolutly wrong. While there are doctors like that, not all of them hand out refferals like lolly pops. To the OP, yes you will need to briong medical records as proof of your ailments. No you do not. They will give anyone with the 65 fee a medical marijuana liscence.

^That^ is a load of crap. The only doctors who handle recommendations in that way are the ones who don't care whether or not they lose their license. If they lose their license your recommendation is no longer valid.Thats a load of crap go to any recommendation place in los angeles and everyone over 18 gets one who pays the fee.

The doctors aren't as lax about it anymore. The last doctor I saw took a complete medical history, physically examined the areas I've had surgery, and copied the medical records I brought.

A friend of mine was in the same situation, what she did was she went and got a recommendation before telling her parents. Surprisingly her parents were very understanding of it, even though they are not marijuana fans. Its a lot less harmful then pain killers and can benefit you in many ways! Goodluck
