Bills, Initiatives and Referendums OH MY!!!!

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by Indica Kid, Jan 16, 2010.

  1. But if they do pass the law under "for the welfare of the people" that would raise a major stink with most republicans that are against nat. healthcare and what not. A lot of the radicals that would vote no to weed, would be put in a very tough situation; to either not pass a law to make weed unlawfull, or to give into and allow more room for more welfare acts and programs.

  2. Exactly, which is the hypocrocy (sp) of the corportist state in which we live in. It's hard to pass such laws in this country because we are mice being represented by cats, in a sense. Very few of our elected representatives are of the working class and as such have no idea what it is like.
Surprisingly, Bernie Sanders, a Democratic Socialist and Ron Paul, a libertarian, have joined forces to propose such a bill that would cancel the prohibition on cannabis. I'm not sure of the details, but having Paul on the bill probably means its leaning more on taxing it to increase intake by the government. Not a bad idea, but having a "weed" industry like Phillips Morris leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But, its a step in a better direction.

  3. YES! We should legalize it now! Show your local representatives that you support the recently new bill called the End Cannabis Prohibition Act by sending them a letter addressing this matter. It's already written for you, just sign your name at the bottom.

I've just started this petition today and it must reach 150 signatures before it becomes "searchable" on the white house website. In Other words I have to personally copy and paste this link for anybody who wants to sign It until the 150 threshold
is satisfied. Please share it with your friends/aunts/cellmates or whatever. Use Twitter,Facebook, your call. It is pretty quick and requires nothing more than creating a white house petition account which is just Name,E-Mail Address, and zipcode. upon searching to the link there should be some kind of prompt to create your account. That's It! Thank You in advance!

  13. I just got an email from my congressman's office in response to a NORML template email about a bill I sent a while ago, I can't remember what exactly the bill was tbh but I think it was the hemp bill HR 525

  14. Everybody in BC should check out the sensible BC campaign and see how they can help. If they can get around 350 000 signatures by November there will be a pot referendum in BC!

Great job providing info about changing the law! :)
I'm working with the group Real Legalization in Washington state with their petition 584 to allow every adult to grow up to 15 plants with no tax, license, fee, or permit.

  16. I would recommend looking for Sensible Tennessee, or Safer Tennessee on Facebook.

  17. Cops will probably leave you alone, as long as you have less than an ounce, and you are not seen smoking it in public, and you are not seen handing any amount to your adult friends/family.
Real Legalization will legalize sharing, as well as allow every adult to grow 15 plants with no tax, license, fee, or permit.

  18. Did not read the entire thread because I silmply want to give my vision.

If you study history, you'll see that one of the best ways to achieve a goal is by gaining the majority of the people. does this mean that a referendum is the only way to legalize marijuana? no def not!
But the power is in the hands of the many, in this case the marijuana activists.

It is time for activist to go public and let society know what they want. today, the problem is that so called activists only talk about legalization with friends and family(maybe this is a way to spread the word but the word needs to be heard by more!).

It is time for every marijuana activist to speak up and set their goals, make an effort! if we unite and all speak up, no one will have the power to shut us down.

so before saying that politicians are the ones making mistakes, we have to look at what we can do and make sure we get what we want, make sure we can enjoy the benefits of legal Mary-Jane!

  19. Should a State be allowed to govern itself according to the wishes of the people? Is the State capable of doing such and should it be allowed? That war has already been fought between the States and the Federal Government, and ended in 1865! The people and the States lost! Peace!
