Using a Smoking Schedule to keep Tolerance Low

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by darkstone, Dec 28, 2009.

  1. Hello everyone out there. I've been smoking on a daily basis for about 6 months now. Moving from a "only on weekends" schedule I noticed my tolerance building right away. I smoke mostly dense dank but from time to time I tend to get less than that because I'm buying right now instead of growing. Anyway, I've experimented with a few different smoking schedules/regimens and I'd like to hear some of yours.

What I hate is when the high only lasts 15-30mins then I know I need a break. Usually a 1-2 week T-break will bring me back to where I can make the first schedule last indefinitely. But the whole point of sticking to a schedule is to avoid T-breaks. Or rather, T-breaks longer than 12 hours :smoking:.

This thread is intended to find a good smoking schedule that allows one-self to find a daily limit/schedule that will help keep tolerance low for as long as possible with out needing a T-Break or going to BHO :p.

So what do you think? How do you regimen your smoking to keep your tolerance in check?

    ------------------------------

I usually smoke about 1/2 Oz to 1 Oz a month. For reference: 1/2 Oz ~= 14 grams.

I try to limit myself to smoking 1 gram every 6 hours. 1 gram will usually last 3 smoking sessions. I smoke about once ever 2 hours. I try to limit myself to after 5pm on M-F and max 12 hours spent high on Sat and Sun. This is just my limit because 1) self medicating isn't a good idea 2) Sometimes I don't have the best self control :p.

Weekends and After work: (Mostly constant mid tolerance; peaks on sunday night, lowers during the week)
    Monday - Thursday
2 grams total. Spread out. Smoking only one session after work.
    Friday - Sunday
1 gram each day to smoke however I like

Week Vacation (from work): (Builds up tolerance in about a week)
    2 grams a day. 0.33 grams every ~2 hours.

High Constantly: (Constant low tolerance, constantly high, not very satisfying, saves weed)
1 decent hit from a joint every hour
++ I use this instead of T-breaks. You don't have to smoke nothing... just a little infrequently.

The goal for me is to smoke just enough during the week that I can still relax and be high but also let my tolerance decrease a bit so that Friday - Sunday I can max it out again.

The best is to wait 2 hours after you feel normal before smoking again with a good 12 hour break between days (Go to bed at midnight and smoke again at noon).

I am thinking about supplementing these schedules with mid/low potency edibles because I've heard that edibles last longer. So my thoughts would be to start the day with an edible. Take a small hit from a joint to get me started while I wait. The idea would be to use the edible to keep my base-line high while using a bowl or joint to get the nice peaks during the day (say when I play guitar or watch a movie).

I'm a dork and an Engineer so I'm going to try and model tolerance as an RC Circuit to figure out the best schedule (to minimize tolerance while maximizing time high). I'm about half way done with the calculations and report. I will post them soon.

  2. bump... no one has any comments. Call me a noob and correct my spelling or something :p

  3. Looks like you got it all figured out, LOL, i just stick to the weekends seems to keep my tolerance pretty low, I might take a t break when I feel it takes longer to achieve my high with the amount I smoke in a usual fri/sat night session.

  4. Yea, "Only on weekends" is the best. As deadlines get closer I tend to need something to calm down before bed.

  5. Sometimes but very rarely will I smoke during the week.

  6. I like your idea, however I just don't think I could keep up with that. But if it works for you, then by all means go for it. I usually just smoke when I feel the need which is about 1 or 2 times a day. If I feel like I'm building up a tolerance, I'll just smoke once a day or take a week t-break.

I'm currently on one and sleeping sucksssss. :(

    Good luck!

  7. I smoke about an ounce per week and I try to limit myself to smoking every three hours.

My tolerance is pretty much out of wack..it's hard to limit yourself when you can do your job stoned and you have a huge supply of homegrown...

As my supply dwindles I find myself having to cut back and smoke every 4 hours...or even every 5..It is hard at first, but that schedule is always better, cuz I get really high when I smoke..

    just my .02

  8. I'm not a schedule man personally, I don't smoke very much because I have few opportunities, but the time I do smoke is luckily enough to keep my tolerance low ad consistent :)

  9. lol 0.33 grams.

just smoke when you want, until you're good.

smoking is about getting around schedules and shit, but if your on a budget i can see why.

  10. I feel ya. I just don't want to get an insane tolerance and start blowing through 3 bowls just to get high for 30 mins. Probably I should write a disclaimer to this thread: For Daily smokers.

These schedules are meant to keep the amount of weed your are smoking at a minimum while maximizing time you can be high. And prevent me from burning out to quick after a t break. Nothing sucks more than taking a t-break and then blowing it in a weekend.

  11. This is very interesting, I like the logic and calculations you have here. Coming from a daily smoker's perspective of cali grown bud it's hard to keep getting high through the day due to a massive tolerance. Smoking only once a day is also difficult, but I find the high is immediately enhanced. It's almost like a t-break, going from 10+ times a day to once.

  12. I'm a daily smoker, a half-ounce lasts me about a month, usually with a 3-day T-break somewhere towards the middle. The key is, I don't allow myself to smoke until 4:20 in the afternoon or after. It started as a designated free-time for my schedule when I was keeping my neice, then I got my own apartment and now I use it as a discipline. I smoke 1-2 hitters around that time, then I do whatever, eat dinner about 4 hours later and then I'll smoke a couple more right after, to kick off the evening. I miss wake-n-bakes, but after a solid year of smoking all day every day (until the weed was gone) I started feeling kinda burned out, and it just wasn't doing it for me anymore. Adhering to this schedule is a testament to my willpower and an excercise in self-restraint. Just one more way to make myself stronger.

  13. my smoking schedule isn't nearly as detailed as yours, but i try to limit myself to an 8th a week. I'm in college and also don't have a ton of money to spend on bud usually, so I try to smoke after I've done all my work for the day. I appreciate it more that way and it conserves bud.

I do however like taking t-breaks when I feel my tolerance is getting too high. It's refreshing and allows me to save up money for when I decide to smoke again

  14. Exactly. When I was in college I only smoked on weekends and when all my studying was done. Or after a test I did really well on. I knew that if I smoked a lot in college I never would have made it. Now I've made it, have a good job and I follow a simple modo: Work hard and play hard.

And I know what you mean about burning out. This holiday season has given me so many reasons to smoke that I'm feeling burnt out and will probably take a T-break soon

As long as my shit is getting done I can smoke (when not at work obviously)

  15. I guess I am lucky to have vast amounts of weed, but I don't need a schedule to keep my tolerance low... my body just knows.

  16. yeah i am doing the same thing my tolerance is way high im gonna dry up after this bag but im gonna smoke 1 or 2 times a day with this last bag..smoke my resin from the bowl then im gonna dry up for awhile.

  17. I always fail tolerance breaks if I do it cold turkey.

    This is my tbreak regiment

I smoke everyday so one day I just do not smoke.
The next day I do, but then I skip two days.
    Then smoke, then three without.
    smoke then four.
    smoke then five days without.

After you go that last five days without smoking your tolerance will be gone completely and yet, you never really quit...

  18. Im interested in the RC circuit you are talking about, are you talking about an electronic resistor capacitor circuit? And how are you using that to calculate the tolerance and all that?

  19. Please expand on the circuitry idea. I'm not incredible with it but my two best friends are electrical engineers and they will love this!

Also, I just read someone's post about only smoking 4:20pm and after. I've been feeling I need a t-break lately so I think as a way to work up my courage to it I'll adopt that rule.

  20. I guess im reviving this? But yea in college I smoke on average about an 1/8th a week, smoking daily, but I smoke once i finished with everything I had to do for the day. Basically it follows that dudes idea of smoking after 4pm. Tolerance stays low nd still conserves bud
