HELP! Wanna grow my own. Clueless about stages and setups. Anyone?

Wow, I thought I was a pretty smart guy untill I started reading this website. Sometimes it gets really hard to find in my region so I want to grow my own smoke. I started reading this website and I'm am extremely confused now. I saw the bubble bucket thing and it looks like something I would want to do. Compact and the step by step directions look easy to follow. However, I know jack about the veg stage and the other stages and when I'm supposed to do what and the lighting and ventilation stuff. Anybody got like info from the Weed Growing for Idiots or something. I could really use some expert info explained simply though. I'm not even sure how much plants yield in what amount of time and when to harvest and all that good stuff, so I'm not sure how many plants I need to grow for my personal use and hook my friends up every now and then (it is Christmas after all). I don't want anything big and like I said the bubble bucket thing looks like it's right up my alley. I'd appreciate any simple info. Maybe blueprints and a harvesting schedule? Thanks new buds! You should look into investing in a book called see more budz grow 8oz on a $50.00 budget. You need a secure place to grow in your house. Soil is the easiest to start with. It takes about 75 days from start to finish then a month to cure. You need to figure out what lights cfl cmh hps. You need to know the laws in your area. You have to read and read and read and look at grow journals. I spent 8 months researching so pm for links or basic questions. You also need to know your budget, My set up was about 600.
