Infinity = 1 (A demonstration of insanity)

  1. Is the glass half-empty, or half-full? Hmm..let's see..

Zero is an imaginary number. Go ahead, try and have zero of something.

All numbers (except one) are a creation, a fabrication created by the mind. Everything after one is a successive exponent of one.

All there really is, is one.

Infinity is an illusion: there is no such mathematical thing. 'Infinity' is just a word describing all of the fake numbers we can create in our minds. As such, if there is only 'one', infinity would equal one, as infinity is a representation of the variations of one we create, which, in the end, equals out to one. One consciousness, one mind, one reality.

Mind, body and soul are one. The mind is an expression of the soul, the body is an expression of the mind, and the soul is an expression of both. <-- That's why everything you do creates who you are. :smoke: The universe is our god, our god is one, we are one, we are god. Our brains, and our universe, are god. One in the same.

The glass is neither half-full, or half-empty. It's completely full, because it's one.

  2. Insanity, sir?

  3. insanity is right... im sorry, but when you factor something, you dont include one in that factorization, you just DONT.
ok, so everything IS a factor of one... everything's a factor of .000000001 too.........
nothing can be greater than infinity, but by your logic, 2 is greater than infinity....

  4. Yes.

You don't include one because the number is one. All numbers are a variation of one. They're not factors, they're successive exponential variations.

    .000000001 = 1.

    For example, 2+2 = 4. 4=1 1 1 1

2, and +, are our inventions, you see? 2 is not greater than infinity because 2 doesn't exist.

  5. If something is infinite can there be room for something else?

  6. Then is '1' not an invention also?

You're saying everything is equal to one.

Doesn't that completely nullify the point of even trying to develop a mathematical system?

It seems like your resorting to mathematical reasoning to disprove simple mathematics.

If space is infinite, then I believe so.

The concept of infinity is so impossible to wrap my head around though, so I can't really say that I have any more of an answer to that question than you do.

  7. I would say no, but that's just me. Infinity implies 'all', going beyond infinity is redundant. All is one.

No, because one is all there is. If there is self, there is 'one'. All else is decided by our mind. The term 'one' is obviously human invention, but the idea that 'one' is describing extends beyond us, into the fabric of our universe.

A mathematical system arises for development of the species. Order from chaos, competition, so forth. Without the concept of 'more than one' there is no competition. I'm not saying mathematics is unimportant or incorrect, but it is an illusion.

I wonder if other animals comprehend the concept of two or three?

    Can infinity ever be occupied?
    ----------------------------------

I think that if you look at everything as a whole, then yes, everything is equal to one.

Technically, anything conceived by our brains can be dismissed as an illusion, however this does not diminish the mathematical process.

If everything is jammed into a single collective, then everything can be considered as one.

However, there is more than one person on this planet, we are not all one.

We may be made of the exact same elements, the same molecules, we may even come from the same exact place (as with all matter), however we are not one.

One is not infinity, because infinity implies no bounds whereas 'one' is bound by singularity.

I do get what you're saying, but there's so many ways of looking at it.

  9. Any consecutive exponent of 1 is 1. I can see what you're saying though:any number is made up of 1s.
However, any number is also made up of 2s, 3s, etc.

Infinite is a value that changes with time. For example, in a single moment, the universe has an end. Since it keeps growing through time, we call that infinite.

On the other hand, infinite can be used to describe a number that has a formula to it but no end to the calculation; an irrational number, such as pie.

and yeah... just stating the obvious

    Infinity is occupied by infinity.

What I'm saying encapsulates everything you're saying. Think of it in terms of binary, ones and zeroes.

A computer analyzes ones and zeroes because it is a one (in our reality). A computer is a one because it is a product of our design: it exists in our reality, we create them. We exist in ones and zeroes as well, except there are no zeroes outside of our mind. All is one. A computer has to be given the zeroes because it isn't conscious.

We are conscious (one), so we create the zeroes.

Can you have more than one infinity? Say you have 2 infinity. If infinity is all, wouldn't that just be 1?

  11. because it a starts with the creator, "1".

  12. there's either nothing(0) or everything(1)

  13. jesus i was at panera with my friend today talking about how the universe is infinite, and the mind is infinite- so the mind and the universe must be one in the same. Universal consciousness. basically everything you just mentioned was the conversation my friend and i had

  14. damn dude i agree with everything you just said.
this should be a religion, i would be a follower

  15. Your just stating 1 is the mimimum increase on the scale of whole numbers when increasing. You change the scale and break everything into .5 (ie: 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 ect)and then claim all there is is .5. You could do that with an INFINITE number of smaller values, (Ie: .1 .01 .001 .0001 .000001 ect) So realy you could just state everything is whatever it's made up of, which is obvious. Or is it? As aristoltle said "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts".

  16. Infinity is really an undefined number, you can't define '1' infinity, therefore you can't have '2' infinities.

That argument doesn't really prove your point.

Your computer analogy doesn't make sense either. A computer has to be 'given' zeroes because it is a computer - we program it.

A value of zero is easily created.

I have no Ferraris , therefore 0 Ferraris are in my possession.

  17. Make up your mind. Either infinity is an undefined number, or it has no bounds, one is not the other.

And no, mathematically, infinity is not an undefined number.

    That's exactly what I said.

    My point.

Precisely. Then how, pray tell, is there such a thing as zero outside of our minds? By that logic you can have 0 of anything you want. Which I don't consider illogical, simply illusory.

  18. One consciousness, one mind. :)

    .5 = 1

It has nothing to do with numbers; we made those up. ;)

  19. I think that everything is equal to ones. Is that what ur tryin' to say.

  20. "While some people conceptualize infinity as a number that is larger than all other numbers, infinity is not treated as a number in mathematics."

This is from your link. This is exactly what I was trying to say.

Infinity is not a real number and has no set value, it does not amount to any fixed total.

One and infinity are entirely different things. One is a real number, it has an assigned value. Real numbers are finite.

You can say that one can be divided into an infinite amount of smaller sub-divisions, however the number itself is bound by a fixed value.
